Question Reworking a charecter

I hit a small stumbling block with my gender flipping mimic in Refection, namely the "Ok to use my powers in class I have to reveal I'm switching". Should I just leave the issues for them to work out or maybe some how tweak the power to make it less of a potential headache to write? I'm already thinking of a rewrite where there is a mental component to the power where when gender flipped the character remembers always being that gender.

They only have to reveal the switching if they use that power in class. Any other powers they have in their usual form(s) would still be fair game. After all, switching in the middle of a fight (BMA class, Combat Finals, many sims) probably is going to be more of a disadvantage than advantage.

Mimic that unless reflecting a power is a baseline. I suppose she could put a mirror on the dormroom door and touch that... but then she has to worry about it wearing off....

Ok, let me bounce this idea off of y'all:
Jess is an Avatar that has picked up a mirror spirit s/he calls Mary. Mary is Old, and the mirror she came from is mithril backed and has some lingering enchantments on it which Mary now possesses and shares with Jess (mirror walking, true sight, scrying/clairvoyance) And limited shape shifting as well as using the bits of shed spirit/essence people leave behind in mirrors for power mimicry.
