  • I'm starting to revise the story that I posted the first two chapters of to the old forums, and I'm planning on setting it with freshman year 2011, right in between Gen1 and 2. That way I could keep Gen1 staff but not have to worry about students from Gen1 or 2. And then I thought, why not see if anyone's interested in getting together and making this era a semi-collaborative fanfic jam? It would give us all plenty of background characters to populate the school. Anybody want in?

  • Fall 2011 should be Team Awesome!'s freshman year, give or take one. I'm not adverse to the idea, as I have two or three OCs in the classes of 2013 to 2016.

I think "Call of the Light" and "Light's Promise" are set in the middle timeframe as well.

    Forum-posted ideas are freely adoptable.

  • In the Discord @RoseBunny brought up an interesting point. Something like this would have significant risk of colliding with canon at some point, and she was concerned that it would end up wasting the efforts of a lot of people. Then I thought, what if we turn a bug into a feature and have certain specific divergences on purpose an play up an alt-universe angle?

Collisions with Canon can be worked around, using the "Unreliable Narrator" trope, or just having the stories be part of the "School-yard Gossip" exaggerations.

Nice example is Tink's re-telling of the Breakfast Brawl.

    "Twin Sparkle-Powers Activate..." :D
