  • I need a name for a superhero group in Miami, all the cool names have been taken already.
Right now I have a temporary name of Miami Lightning, but I don't like it.
The only other group in Florida that's named is Bakers Dozen over in Tampa, and they're not respected, so I can't use them as a basis for it.

  • That reminds me about a set of fanfiction about Buck and Bolt, who were a team of power suit jocks affiliated with the Tampa Bay sports teams that mostly did drug interdiction. I wonder if those will get reposted.

If you had an all female team with water themed powers you could go with "The Miami Mermaids". "The Miami Dades" is a trifle tongue in cheek, and you might not want to go with including Miami at all. Perhaps something like "The Scorpions" to reference the cryptid of Miami Beach, or maybe for a laid back group, "The Beach Bums".

  • I like the beach bums, and the scorpions is cool, I didn't know Miami had a cryptid.
But it's Crusaders. The beach bums can be another Florida team.

The team is only being mentioned by an impressionable twelve year old.

  • OK, two points:

"The Conquistadors" is not a would-be bad naming case: it's an actual South American superteam in the Whateley Universe. Yeah, I'm South American and I don't like the name very much either.

Second point: I once jokingly suggested to Kristin that the reason that no Miami-based supergroups ever got mentioned in "Fling" is that, like Gothan in the DC Universe, Miami is home to a guy who does not play well with other children... but instead of being a paranoid control freak like Batman, this one is an egocentric jerk who thinks everything that ever happens in Miami is somehow about him -- like, he never thinks a bank robbery is about the money: somehow, in his mind, is a personal attack on him, so he has to take center stage on every case and hog all the credit.
Name of this super? Horatio Caine, a.k.a. "The Ego."

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

Canada has a military? When did someone let THAT happen? (snerk)

Yes, I know. I also know that Snowbirds is a disparaging nickname in Phoenix for all the geezers who winter in the Valley of the Sun - which is the reference I was shooting for.

  • yup I know, was just razzing ya.

and a lot of those geezers are Canadians. ;)

my aunt and uncle were doing that, going to SoCal for the winter, but my uncle developing Schizophrenia put and end to it. He can't walk past a vertical line because of it, he has to see it until he is past, which stops him from going through a doorway. :( ( he can't see both sides of the doorway at the same time so gets stuck bouncing forward and back trying to go through. )

    being form Cali

he should be just fine here. as most doorways are no longer 'vertical' from all the earthquakes we have daily --or so my east coast family says to me --lol

and Canada has a military ? are you sure its not just some real mean scouts?

  • It is amazing how long this has gone on after Domoviye said that he was going to make this particular Miami team an expansion team of the Chicago Crusaders (just like the California Crusaders are). Still, we have gotten a lot of interesting possible names out of it.

Please, please, stop harassing the poor man. It takes time and we know how slow Whateley time is. A day at Whateley can feel like an eternity for some characters as its seems it never moves past a certain day for them. Take Time Capsule for instance. He's been looking for a home ever since the day of discovery. Poor chap and as I'm sure Dom is working ever so diligently on finding the correct adajay I mean adaj for the Miami Gophers. Or is it Miami Diehards?

Well just give her time. It is a long weekend for some and it takes time to digest a wookie.

I'm not commenting on this thread, because I do have a name already picked out. But some of these do have me laughing and I may borrow some of them for later.
Also I've spent the last week really busy with a special project. So I've been pretty busy.
But please keep the names coming.

Also found a name that might fit for anyone that wants it. Just change the beginning. Miami Libertarians. That is if it hasn't already been used.

They started their own team ( with 2 mill pop in the GVRD they can have 2 teams ;) )

    The Vancouver Gigolos

and the weaklings that have formed a team in Victoria can't understand why they can't get stronger members for the Victoria Vegans.

seems to me more powerful members would want that 5 pound slab of flesh at every meal. ;)
