Well... as it turns out, a significant majority of people responding don't like the changes I have made to the look of the site. As a result, I will be reverting things to the previous look. Expect that to happen sometime in the next couple days.
This one may have come as a bit of a surprise, because its been some time since the Gen 2 team has put out so much content, but here's a piece from Malagula called "A Goldfish in the Ocean" that suggests that not everyone finds settling in at Whateley to be a piece of cake.

I'm aware of the error in the left sidebar beneath the login well. That's the Patreon widget and, unfortunately, the error is on their end. I'm considering temporarily suppressing it (taking the well with the embedded button out entirely) until they get it resolved... but that's about all the control I have over it.
I've got a couple weeks between my regular job (which ended yesterday and doesn't start back up until Sept) and my summer gig, which starts mid June this year... so I'm going to spend some time on some 'larger' scale upgrades for the site that I've had plans for for awhile now. I'll try to keep from going live with anything on the 'early' week when there's new content, but you might see some offline time and/or need to refresh your cache for the site between Thurs-Sun during the next week or two. Down time should mostly be 'short' term (under an hour) unless things go wrong or the internet fails to propagate a change quickly... in that event, remember that I do have a status page up on my wisdomsprice.com site and I might also keep folks on Discord up to date as well.
On to the content!
Today's release is some Second Gen goodness from someone who's getting back in the swing of things after some hardcore struggles and recovery. I'm talking about Elrod, of course, and we're all glad to see him back in the mix. What he's got for you all today is something about our resident blue lass, Part 1 of "Laura and the Fan Club". Enjoy!
And don't forget to leave a comment and join in the discussion on the forums with your feedback!

Yes, I know its Sunday and not Monday. Unfortunately, the primary source of chaos in my life (the education department of our theatre company) has decided to schedule all the things they can this season on Mondays because that's the only day that we aren't otherwise already doing shows and rehearsals. Never mind that they are still expecting the same people to staff those days (requiring some creative interpretations of labor laws and schedule writing). Anywaaay... grumpiness about poor management aside... it means I'm busy during most of the afternoon and evening tomorrow. I 'could' leave the update in Dan's capable hands... but instead, I've decided to post it this evening. Most people won't be around until tomorrow to see it anyway... given the large number of people who 'only' visit on the evening of content release.
So what IS that content being released 24 hours early? Why... that would be the newest Original Timeline piece from Morpheus "Shenanigans Too" .. this is Part 1 of a Team Shenanigans focused story so you KNOW what you're in for. A real treat. And for those of you who DO visit us more often than just the scheduled times? Enjoy your early access!
I suspect a few people have been waiting eagerly for today's story. Even though its billed as the beginning of a 'Murphey' piece, this is E.E.'s continuation of the action Lifeline is taking to 'save' her friend Elaine from Kodiak and Grizzley's spirit 'possession'.
The story is "Murphey's Law of Spirits"... and you can find it in the Gen 1 / Original collection. Enjoy!

One of the pleasures of being an author or producer here is knowing what stories are scheduled for release and keeping tabs on the 'bets' made by the community members as they try to predict what we've got in store. Sometimes the guesses are close... we even see occasional winners. But the rest of the time... the guesses can get pretty far afield. Or the stories on offer are exceptionally unexpected.
It's the latter that's the case, most likely, this time around. While it is a later chapter in something that has been in progress for some time now (it's part 4), it HAS been some time since we'd seen any progress. So its with great pleasure, as the staff rakes in our take of pastries, that we announce this week's content. From MageOhki, we have Part 4 of "Rises the Sun" in the Second Generation collection.
You will find today's release, from E.E. Nalley, over in the Star Wars section of the Library (or if you are accessing via the sidebar lists, it will be at the top of the Non-Canon Stories, list (the third one down, between 2nd Gen and IF). It's titled "Burdens of the King" and you should be sure to post feedback and comments once you've read it.

I'm sure my Sacramento desert climate has a bit of a jump on much of the rest of the country but this week definitely moved into shorts weather. Not 'ok, I can wear shorts with a shirt and a hoodie' where its a little chilly... but full on, clear blue sky and mid-70's pushing towards 80 during the afternoon. Shorts and a t-shirt necessary for temperature control (unless you cheat and turn on the AC at the first sign of warm weather). We've also had a fairly rainy spring season, spread out over a couple months... so everything is flowering and green. Which, admittedly, sucks for allergies... but it certainly makes for gorgeous scenery.
Over on the Whateley Universe front, its also shorts weather. We have a couple of them that we're going to release together, all of them in the Original Timeline 2007 school year. From Elrod, we've got a vignettes collection "Charge of the Light Vignettes" and from E. E. Nalley, we have "Out Foxing".
Today's content release is something a bit off campus. Way, off campus... here's Part 2 of MageOhki's Battletech fic "With a lever big enough I can move the world"
Note: Because there's been some confusion in about seeing / not seeing the story for this week in the Original / Second Gen timeline lists... I'll point out that, as a Battletech fic, this second section of the story is located in the Library under Unique Sci-Fi, as was the first part of the story posted a while back. That means you can find a link to it in the Non-Canon Stories panel on the right side-bar. Or, if you follow the menus to the story collections: "Read Stories" -> "Library" -> Unique Sci-Fi.

Trying out a little something new here. Dan and Wasamon have implemented a Table of Contents mechanism for today's presentation of an anthology of short stories. It is a little glitchy, and its... ugly... but it should be functional. If we can work the rough edges off the process of making use of it, it might become a method by which we can present some reading lists or combine author collections. And other stuff.
If it continues to be glitchy and I can't easily resolve tying it more into the site's style scheme, it might just be a one off. We'll see how it goes. :)
As to the content for today? Wasamon has some origin stories or other 'off campus' bits for a number of support characters that he thought you might like to know more about than the brief mention they get as background to someone else's story. Enjoy the Anthology! Be sure to comment.
