Question Wild Mass Guessing: 2007-08 academic year

We've got a speculation (silly or serious) thread for G2, but given the new academic year in G1 will be starting in the next few months, theorising on what could potentially occur could be fun...

To start you off:

It's likely that the surviving Loose Cannons will eventually turn up - although the last time we met them, Bek teased they were headed Vegas way so still had plenty more adventures in store before getting anywhere near campus.

Stacy (Silver Ghost) will also be starting Whateley - possibly as a Poesie; as will Danny Franks (who'll probably still be worried Wihinape will renege on her promise and turn him into Dannie...)

It's remotely possible Bek may find some time in between all the other characters to write some Toni PoV, but the rest of TK are only likely to appear as inserts in other characters' tales. For similar reasons, we'll see a lot of Lainie but not so much of the other members of the Literary Club.

Having said that of course, if Diane manages to escape the hellmouth and resume writing Whateley, knowing past form there'd be no stopping her

Halloween probably won't pass without incident - although the campus is likely to be more prepared should Chessmaster decide to stage another invasion.

Meanwhile in the fanon alternative universe, a certain diminuitive girl will still be causing chaos wherever she goes - especially if anyone "accidentally" feeds her sugar...

Judging from the output of Morpheus, Elrod, and the other Authors, all of the Freshmen in Fall 2007 will get their own origin story.

Shine, Roulette, Ribbon, Sphere, Absinthe, Glow, Knockoff, Danny, Stacy, Mischief, Porcelain, Amelie, The Loose Cannons{8}, Stormy, Envy, Ethan, Palantir, Abracadabra, Little Bee, Crimson Comet, and Elle Annelise Ruud are known or possible new freshmen. And Belphegor who is likely to flunk again.

If all those show up, that is 20+% of the Freshman class...

Though seeing how massively derailed the old thread got, I will say this, we don't know if Stacy will go to Whateley, but I still predict that we will see Peeper tied up in pink ribbons (same goes for any other male that annoys the oldest freshman whom happens to have the same or lower apparent age as Jade) also I predict Ayla teaching the new changelings that there's a time and place for everything, for pranks that's Dunn Hall lunch and dinner.

Minor point: it's uncertain if Envy will be a freshman -- Evan was what, done with his junior year before he manifested?

I think Stacy could possibly be a late starter. Considering how she feels about being abandoned, it could take longer for her to agree to it.

Well Stacy is behind on the Gen1 timeline, a lot can change, I currently have her as a 50/50 potential for attending Whateley in the fall

Something on the "unlikely but interesting if it happens" scale - it's mentioned in the Outcast tales that Sandra (Diamondback) has a twin brother (Matthew), who hadn't manifested by the time she started at Whateley. Now of course that doesn't guarantee that he will eventually manifest himself, but perhaps more likely than not.

While on the "fingers crossed and hoping" scale, Dr. Bender finds a new angle of looking at Sara which enables him to find writing her easier than before (three years elapsed between IPP3 and IPP4, four between IPP4 and AAA, so we may have something new by 2018).

Also, the last time we saw her, Freya was planning a campus attack, and it's possible TWFKA Hekate may seek revenge on a certain mage (it's possible she's unaware of The Battle Of Skybolt's Mind). Canon will probably continue to tease us with nuggests of seemingly useless information on Nimbus and HM (although whether the investigation will continue throughout the year and into 2008-9 or whether the identities will be revealed remains to be seen...) and our friendly local Bastard™ may make a reappearance...

Finally, also on the unlikely scale - the House Parents do Adam Lambert a favour by giving him a new room mate. Either that or somehow he finally realises there are other people on campus who like him, and true friendship is not marked by meekly following orders in the vain hope of finding favour.

Speaking of the Outcasts I wonder if anyone is going to do something with the Changeings in Twain, Whitman and Hawthorn that were briefly introduced in Jericho's, Diamondback and Razor's stories.

iirc Nikki and Billy were both done with their junior year before they started at Whateley as juniors.
It was a technicality that got team Kimba into the sim rotation.

That's why I said "uncertain" -- yes, the school might "demote" Envy to freshman; but then again, they might not.

All things considered, an extra year or so at Whateley (unless its for stuff you did wrong, like Belphy) isn't a bad thing, which is probably why they like starting new students as freshmen, regardless of prior education.

Incorrect. Nikki completed her freshman year, and Billie completed her sophomore year. Both were enrolled at Whateley as sophomores and placed on the freshman floor. In Billie's case, part of that is that she was trying to make her identity harder to trace by altering her age (she's really 16, but Whateley has her down as a 15 year old). Though I'm not sure which story that tidbit was actually mentioned in.

Nope. Mathew is mentioned in Child of Confusion . The alternate personality you're thinking of is Ryan, which was Diamondback's birth name.

On the Sara front, a second chapter to AAA is conceivable, telling the events from Sara's PoV of what happened between Jet sacrificing herself and re-emerging at the end of TGTH, and it would be lovely if Branwen can rescue her from her current fate (thus at the very least opening her up for secondary PoV in other people's tales or background window-dressing in G1Y2).

Given the numerous attempts on both Sara and Kayda over the year, it's conceivable the Administration will at the very least discuss what (if anything) can be done about external actors trying (either directly or indirectly) to assassinate students while on campus, or manipulating others to attempt to provoke their target student into doing something that will get them expelled (and therefore into the hands of the antagonist who can't directly reach them while on campus).

Kayda's gadgets will give her an edge against PK supermen...

At least one of the TLW manages to light (and keep alight) her essence well...

It's mentioned as canon, either in a recent story somewhere that the TLW's all get their essence lit at the end of the term.

Kirstin made a post were she explained as one of the Magic courses they would be getting this year their essences would be lit.

Well, she said as part of the course the students essences would be lit, and implied that the Three Witches would be in the course.

Well, implied that the two witches that are now high school students would, I don't know about Clover, she's apparently a year younger and a form below the other two.

I can't predict what will happen there

The Stacy stories have gaps between them spanning 1-2.5 months by that time scale vacation plans would be at proper time

Edit: consider, you have to book the flight and the hotel and plan out all of what you want to do and book what you can to optimize your vacation time, and cram in as many activities as possible.

I'd venture my own guesses, but unless things have shifted since a certain exchange of PMs, I fear I have an unfair advantage over the others. Therefore I'll decline to comment, and simply sit back and watch - perhaps laugh at the outlandish guesses once all is revealed.

Since Elrod's Nordic Sidhe got another mention in the G2 thread (and at some point in the next few months [our timeline] we'll start the 2007-08 academic year, I thought I'd give this thread a bump.

Just thought: if this character ends up in Dickinson, she could potentially meet a certain Suzan Chylds (assuming you could get Drunkfu's permission to use her)...

The edit resposible for that addition was by JohnBobMead (aka kd7mvs - responsible for 550 Wiki edits between 2010 and 2012) on 1st Dec 2010.

With ~150 new students every year, I think there'll be a lot of new faces? But, we're Team Kimba focused, so maybe we won't see a lot of them?

Well, we're not so much TK focussed as Poe TG wing focussed, as the focus within the 2006-07 academic year has shifted to Kayda, as most of the TK authors are AWOL (one's uncontactable, one fell into a hellmouth, one brefly resurfaced a couple of times, two got burned). It's a similar story with many non-TK 'original' characters.

I believe that the 'core' G2 story arc was purposely designed with contingencies to allow it to advance even if authors of some of the central characters drop out (e.g. the plot probably can't hinge on one character doing something unless it's absolutely positively certain the character's author will be around to write the tale), as they don't want it to advance at the same sluggish pace as G1 (where it took most characters the best part of a decade to get through the first half year - and even then, most of that was largely from a single character's PoV with occasional PoV inserts from others).

Anyway, as for G1Y2, it wouldn't surprise me if we meet some Juniors (currently Sophomores) for the first time, as their younger siblings start Whateley; while at least one of the TLW is likely to be starting her Freshman year. Hopefully, Whisper will come out of the proverbial shadows after deliberately keeping under the radar for G1Y1.

My Guess is that TK will still be involved in some of the major stuff but a new main team will form. Also as soon as people see Ribbon and hear what cottage she is in, they will keep their distance instinctively, Jade has trained the student body well....

That would be cool. Excepting Aughadail, we don't know much about the Nine, except that they exist.
Personally, I'm guessing this year will see the fight with the Bastard, presumably in Spring 2008 - assuming those storylines are one and the same.
