  • It's been cleaned up, some things have been changed, and it's posted up to the start of the Christmas holiday. Expect the rest this week.

And hey, for the most part it isn't horrifying or dark.

Domoviye, I think Elrod and I managed to get about half the Whateley readership to cry, and I shudder at that statement

Afraid I wasn't part of that group.

    Sorry.

Is it bad that this makes me feel very proud of myself?

  • So, I finally started reading this last night. I spent basically all of today so far finishing it. That was damn good.

I am the kernel that pops in the night. I am the pain that keeps your dentist employed.

  • Thanks. I'll have more up soon, just been having some kind of sinus infection since October which has made breathing hard. I'm finally on antibiotics which should help, so hopefully I'll be writing and breathing properly by Christmas.

  • Ok, one of the projects I was working on while sick is now up and published.
Fate Sucks Part 1 is now up in the official Fanfiction section. The grammar has been heavily edited, the first 10K of it has been rewritten so it's much less passive, and it's all around better thanks to some very nice critiques by different people.
    So HURRAY!

  • Congratulations, Domoviye! Will definitely check that out when I'm rereading the story. Fate Sucks is one of the stories of yours that I enjoy the most (minus the whole cult thing; that wasn't personally interesting) and I'm really looking forward to reading more of it. :) Please keep it up; it's appreciated quite a bit. :D

Does this mean I can critique it and send it to you quietly?

You can critique it and post it loudly if you like.

    Thanks.
The cult was needed for an outside antagonist that would go after El and her family, also demons are cool. But I did try to keep it all balanced.

  • Congratulations Dom on being the first in the Fan Fiction Content tab. Last time I read this it didn't really strike me as being my favourite bit of your work but this is much improved. Well done!

Looking forward to the next part...

  • Thanks. I'll be adding other works up soon. The next one should be Never, then Part 2 of this story, and then either For Master or A Light in the Dark.

  • Grats Dom, always thought you'd have a good chance to make something officially unofficial.

I think the story you would have the most trouble getting into that category would be Tink, haha.

  • Thanks.
I'm actually going to be holding back on Tink for a short while as I do some rewriting. I skipped a lot of fun things she could be doing during the summer, because I hadn't thought she'd become so popular and didn't want to take too much time away from the other stories. So I figure 3or 4 months I'll be about ready to post an actual novel for her summer, and by then I should be able to clean up her first term at Whateley by using things that will be common knowledge by then, like the fact that in one of the recent stories a magic teacher said the three little witches will have their essence wells lit up.
Don't worry though, I'll still be updating the Tink stories I have right now, just not as frequently.

Wait... What?! ... Where's that? Is that around when they're training with Ito? Or is that Domoverse canon but not Whateley-verse Canon?

  • It's canon. Can't recall what story but I'm pretty sure it's Grimes who said it

Kristin Darken wrote: The three don't have lit wells yet. They play at being witches.. they aren't casting real spells outside of class where they are given the essence to power the assigned practice spells. As part of the completion of spring intro to magick, they will get to light their wells... but will then have to workon building any reasble amount of essence

  • So uh..... seems all the fan fic authors went poof. Is this because people are just trying to post directly to the story>fan fic page, or did everyone just drop off the face of the earth at the same time?

    :(

    Miss the fan fic updates.

  • Looking at the page views on the main stories we seem to have like 10% of the people reading the stories that we should have as well.

I don't know, I'm starting to lean towards "everyone dropped of the face of the earth" too.

As for Fan Fiction, I think the Canon Cabal kidnapped them and has them hidden in a secret location churning out story after story so that they can make it canon and are just calling it things like "Gen 2" and "Gen 3" to placate us.

It's unfortunate you were sick, though I'm glad it's past tense and thus (presumably) overcome. I hope your income is sufficient for your desires.

And I'm really looking forward to what you produce. :D
