  • I'm glad you like this one and my first one, and I'm working hard to keep putting out enjoyable material. Did you have a chance to read my second book? Mind Games?

  • Well, this first part is really interesting. It's a good beginning with a nice pace, the characters's personalities seem engaging, the plot hooks are working because i can definitely say that i will read the next part without any hesitation.

    Thank you.

  • Nice work.

I really like the descriptions of the differences between the main character's perceptions as a human, and as a "whatever-it-is-that-he-is-becoming".

My guess is that it is a story of a were who is awakening to their full potential, but that's just a guess.

Looking forward to the next part. :D

  • I won't say that i was surprised by the gender change, but i admit that i was not fully expecting it. it could have gone either way. You have dealt with a classical passage in this genre but you have put your own spin on it.

Aiden's fear that he would no longer be able to practice his craft was interesting.

I know it's an independent fiction but do we have exemple in canon of a family with the same mutation passed down from generation to generation ? And are they really mutants ? How similar to werewolves are they ? Would mithril prove fatal to them ? We will have to see.

    Thanks Paradox.

Yes, Harry Wolfe. He suffers from a family curse, as well as him being a mutant, Gadgeteer, i think.

    It's not a mutation, but it's similar.

  • Congratulation on this third part Paradox.

The aspects that I found particularly enjoyable :
    - The wolf instinct affecting her behaviour (The Pack hierarchy, the way you have written the interactions in wolf form, the influence on her sociability and the way she deals with the world in general)
    - Your attempt to humanize Henry (by minimizing what we thought they were planning to do to Aiden). For now I will say attempt because it will depend a lot on the following parts, it's a work in progress. Blaming Ed for the whole thing kinda felt like a cop-out but as long as he really tries to make amend he can have his redemption.
    - I think I have a thing for romance between former bully/bullied. (Twister karma of Serenity, Absinth.) It was here nicely done, it was fast but kinda justified by her animalistic behaviour, in a way.

I foresee cloudy sky ahead of them, at one point he will learn the truth about her mutation and believe she was the one who attacked him and killed Ed.

The reproaches about whateley are not completely without ground, I wonder what you will do with your own academy.

  • Catching up to the latest of these Paradox stories!

Spoilers that I've gotten: There's a GenderBender and some wolf transformation somewhere. At least I don't know who yet.

I'm at like the 1st quarter of part 1...

I wasn't sure if the POV was girl or guy, until it was stated, 'cause there could be girl bladesmiths, and girls could be just friends with guys.

Saw this Typo and wanted to hunt down this thread to check if I had somewhere to post it, and if it was already fixed in the Google Doc version or not. Which it wasn't.
