  • So, a Sidhe colony that follows a distorted Five Fold philosophy that elevates the Sidhe above others. Very Interesting!

Especially since this is gonna go to Earth where some character from the colony is going to discover actual Five Fold philosophy...

OH! The distorted FiveFold is the culture of Di'ar!

Wait... Hmm... If Magical Traditions are based on those who still believe in them, Di'ar's gonna import her Tradition to Earth? ... Reminds me of 500 Kingdoms Traditions...

  • Eons have past, history distorts. I also figure that the Sidhe and other Court beings found their life spans a lot shorter on the colony/outpost worlds then they had been on earth. Bit like how in the Bible prior to Noah's flood humans lived for.... I forget how old some of them got, and after the flood, they where lucky to get to 90.

I'm kind of using the Shannara Chronicles, both the books and the show, as as well as Brook's other series Knights of the Word as sort of the basis of the Sundering and the effects on the worlds. I recommend the Shannara Chronicals show and the core Shannara books to the Sion series. The latest few Shannara books I haven't gotten to yet, and the the Knights... I had to struggle through as they depressed the hell out of me. I swear Domo wrote them.

  • Update for A Changeling's Tale, formerly Long Way From Home, is up.

Thought the story needed a better name after I realized where I was going with things. And Di'ar's code name will likely be Changeling.

  • Oh, so we've got more Hybrid Sidhe... Interesting... I wonder who will appear later? Lillow appears so much that I think she's gotta appear later somehow...

We haven't seen Trakar yet... Hmm... I wonder if he's a Pure... Will he try and come to the rescue... Perhaps Ms. Zivyh to the rescue?

Outer Space Sidhe are gonna be news to Earth Sidhe... Use Yukinoko to meet them, perhaps... ... Wait, we don't know the time on Earth... could be Gen2, Gen1, Gen3(+)...

  • Tentatively I am setting things late Gen1, just cause I can't think of a way at the moment for Di'ar to meet Nikkie and Jobe in the same place outside of the school.

And I like Lillow as well and am trying to work her in more. And Trakar is not pure Sidhe, his family is more Court of Water. -wrinkles nose- I think that's where they'd fit into the Courts any way...

And Malady, just remember what happens to most Changelings in the Old Fairy Tales...

  • Short update posted.

Got something for you all to think about; Should the Ponys, who I do have a better name for, be a species that naturally evolved on their world, where uplifted by sufficiently advanced being (example mad science or exiled Five Fold), or a bit of a mix?

Well... Does it matter? How does it play into how they interact with other species or something? Maybe don't bring it up until you need to? Or flip a coin or something??

  • You do have a point on the "What does it matter?" front.

And yes, Sex-Ed is very interesting for them.

And I hadn't considered that for Trak. Thanks. :)

And yes, Shen is the same rank as Afterglow. I fiddled with the previous chapter to remove Glow's wings.

  • Oh those poor ponies... I figured out how to work in the Breezies and the Changeling. I just wish Di'ar could keep one or more as pets.

Does their culture involve clothes? Do they have a need for clothes... Questions like that.

That's exactly what I was mulling. I can see them with lesser body taboos then humans, but the mental image of antho-pony wing wang makes me thing the males need something to keep the mares from being distracted.

If they never invented pants, I guess?

Wikipedia on Trousers wrote: Invented in Asia and subsequently spreading worldwide, ... Made of wool, the trousers had straight legs and wide crotches, and were likely made for horseback riding.

I guess you could justify pants vs. kilt however you want. I think we're at the "reason is irrelevant" level of detail?

  • New update.
Honestly I feel bad for Di'ar. She could have been bad ass in this scene, but I wanted it to be more Afterglow and Shen.

Nest up, what is Lillow doing to help fend off the Ponies?

  • Interesting way to start! Does Celeste have a sister, I wonder?

Also nice note on magic notes. I wonder how the Ponies' use will affect the Tree, if it does...

And that's as far as I've got. Nevermind!

... Oh! You made MLP Changelings! Totally missed that as a meaning! And that Assimilate Traits spell, applied to those 'Changelings' make a Hermaphrodite Whateley Changey, and using it on a kid to take over lives is the Fairy Changet meaning!

Celestia always struck me as a weird name for a Diarch, as it encompasses the whole sky, but if you have a singke daughter, and don't think you'll have another, and want astrologically aligned names, I guess it makes a lot of sense!

Typos, on mobile, so not exhaustive. Important ones first:

  • The Celeste does have a sister ship, and said sister ship is the High Queen's (ok, need a better title) flagship. And yes they where named for two of the first rulers of the species. Both of whom are still 'alive' after a fashion. We may see one of them soon.

Haven't quite decided how the tree will react. I do know that time away from Earth had mutated it some, so it might just go all James Cameron's Avatar on the invaders.

The MLP Changelings and Flutter-Bat where kind of a spur of the moment addition. Not sure if Di'ar is going to be feeling any effects from this spell, but I do know she would get a "Modified" label added to an MID once Glow is done with her.
