Well it's back, for anyone who was waiting for it (I realize that this is no one).

I'm curious to see where it goes, and how it will involve tractors.

Really? You're wondering where the farm girl will run into tractors?

Not a lot of information to go on and figure out whats going on, but its a good start.

You have to have read Mice in the Churchhouse to know what is going on. This small part is essentially a What Happened to the Mouse turning into its own story.

clearly some Exeplar mental trait, though I get the feeling that she wont "study" any of the guys she is set up with the same way as she does the girls she meets.. Possible gadgeteer?

I was talking about both

For both I gave the response, "you'll have to wait," so I suggest you wait. I'll have another part up next Wednesday and I will attempt to be consistent after I have finished reposting what was on the old forums, and the little bit I had written beyond that.

Somewhere in my Archives, the Old Copy should exist, for anyone wanting a sneak peek. Though I have not spent the time to see the changes, if I ever will...

Perhaps I should, to see what new, brilliant? innovations have occurred and wonder about those yet to be seen...

Although, any chatter here will, or at least should? be about this New Version only, I presume...

But yes, to speculate, Gadgeteer and/or Exemplar + Lesbian/Bi makes sense... ... I await Tractor Beams! ...

Nothing has changed (well basically nothing), I am just reposting until I reach the parts where I hadn't posted them to the old forum, you are safe. Give me 2 maybe 3 weeks and there will be stuff you haven't seen. I'm not sure where I actually got to on the old forum. I did try to keep the grammar updated on the document where I store the story so that should be much of a problem either.

Edit: so I PMed Malady to find out how long until the posts here caught up with where I was at in the old forum and there are 3 more posts until then. After that 'new' material will start flowing out. I apologize to anyone waiting for the cliffhanger's resolution.

Today's feels a bit short but the next good breaking point is a bit long.

Tell me if you want the extra update, I have enough that I should be able to write to the end while posting (exams aren't over till next week so I can't even start writing yet).

Where are you thinking of? The only use of that quote at the academy that I can recall is Toni to Ayla about liking Jadis.

Using the in built browser page search function (looking for 'methinks' as it is the most district word) I could find it nowhere in any of the Riddle of Sapho cantos.

#3 was a suggestion for everyone. You'll want to reread the last section (of mice) before reading the next one (of tractors), as there are specific comparisons to be made between characters as seen by Pepper and Abby.

So today I forgot it was Wednesday, otherwise I would have posted sooner.

We have officially hit the limit of where the people who read it on the old forum would have read to.

The reason I want people to read Mice in the Churchhouse is for this chapter. The entire point of having Viridian described in detail in both was so that the differences between Pepper and Abby could be noted. Though considering how similar they are… actually does anyone else notice that or is it just me?

Wait, so is Viridian a base-mage or a super or what? 'Cause she's using Tarot...

Can I use Viridian in some of my fanfic? How old is she? ... 'Least college age...

Well, I guess you don't really need the Dewey Decimal System unless you want to use it...

Best idea might be to just find a book close to what you want, and extrapolate other books' Decimals from that one.

I remember reading this over on the old Crystal Hall forums along with Mice in the Churchhouse, still a very enjoyable read and I can't wait to read more of Abby's adventures of discovery and change.

I found a way to replace the text that still felt like Abby to me.

The reason I was going to use the Dewey decimal system is that Abby goes to the library a bunch more than I do and actually knows it well enough that she would be looking for the right section based on the numbers first then narrowing it down. When I started figuring out what the numbers would be I realized it would look like nonsense to anyone not familiar with the system.

So almost forgot to post today, again, but this time the excuse is I was to busy writing the part I'm on and forgot that I hadn't posted it.

Also we have exceeded the point of the old forums, anyone who was waiting for it to get there should start reading now.

Just kidding... it's good to see this story getting somewhere that's new to me... It was just kinda hanging there so it's good to get to a good end-point for that stretch of the story.

Originally I had planned to write the whole road trip. Then I thought about what it did for the story, which amounted to extending it by a ridiculous amount without adding to the plot, developing characters, or getting Abby to Whateley.

The stuff before hand I wrote like that because I didn't want to put in 10-12 pages of nothing but dialogue. Not even interesting or plot/character relavant dialogue. I already overdo a lot of stuff when writing, I don't need an excuse to do it to dialogue as well.

Okay so this is a little update for the story. You may have noticed I haven't posted any more chapters, some may assume from the last thing that happened that the story is over. It is not. I have not been posting because I don't have enough of a buffer to feel comfortable.

I'll be back next Wednesday (maybe, probably not really) because I think I'm almost done writing it (but considering I accidentally turned 2 pages into 10 that might be wrong as well).

Before anyone wants to call me out for stealing a name I had this planned out a while ago. You can ask Domoviye about it, I asked him for some help editing, I was using aunt Luke (with plans of it being Lucretia) all the way back on the old forum. I had thought of raising a slight fuss but then thought better of it because the name aunt Luke had yet to come up.

Interesting... and I'm not at all curious about an extra two weeks in the trip that didn't happen.

Only one thing though... officer Jeffries is only mentioned a few times to keep her from stalling but is then dropped completely. Was he not with her when her Aunt opened the door? Could he have not helped carry the bags up? Did he stay or just leave?

Officer Jefferies was still in the car and drove off as soon as the bags were unloaded. He had to get back quickly to account for the two weeks that didn't go missing at all.

Anyone who wants to help with the road trip, I was thinking it would be a sequence of microscenes, don't pm me because absolutely nothing happened on the trip between Madison and Seattle.

Abby has an interesting aunt, to say the least. Wonder how things are going with her family back home though, how is her mom doing with her dad laid up in the hospital and such. Though also curious what the MCO testing will reveal about Abby's powers.

Well I'm no where near as close to done as expected. Also I somehow turned 2 pages into 10 so this story is going to take longer than expected.

I originally planned 3 short parts before she got to Whateley, now the first two have exploded beyond reasonable bound (they both three parts long) so I have no clue when this story will end.

Thanks for the typos. You've also revealed why I hate this chapter. Yes I spent a bunch of time world building it, but we're probably going to see it twice more before Abby is sent off to Whateley.

Admittedly yes I could do stuff with it later but there is no pay off to the world building. I just can't write without setting up the world in my mind, and then nothing makes sense when I don't explain it.

Well, I like the bit of world building, interesting business model and I could see something like it showing up in canon, it is a sound business with regular customers and lots of checks in place to keep it relatively safe. Plus love Lorry's attitude, hope we see more of her before Abby is sent off to Whateley.

Interesting show of how her power works, wonder what she could do with a workshop full of parts, no restrictions or time limit. And Aunt Luke taking her niece's new boss credit card like that, lol.

Okay so I finished this chapter late last night. It might be a few weeks until the next part as I try and rebuild my buffer.

Paragon 2, Exemplar 3, Gadgeteer 4. Perfect response from the scientist and finish to this chapter of the story. Plus love how the guard got punished by Abby for going after her aunt for what she said.

Well the next part is out. I was planning on waiting until I finished all the parts but… some stuff happened and now school is starting so I don't know if I'll end up finishing the story.

I'm going to finish the part I'm on and post what I have over the coming weeks to see if I'm able to finish after school starts.

Well, they keep trying, usually when people realize they can't come close to succeeding they save their energy.

Trust me rumours are already flying around. Especially after people seeing Aunt Luke.

Next friday I release friday, and will possibly have scrapped a storyline I spent a bunch of time setting up because the story flows better without it.

3. All of the rumours are to some extent true but not always in the way the tell means it
4. Abby hasn't heard the rumours becasue everyone is avoiding her due to the rumours

And 5. I guess would be that the people spreading some of the rumours are more informed than Abby on what is going on than she is.

Ok some of it has to do with Aunt Luke, one of them has to do with genetics, but theres more to it

Okay so last post for a while.

As a question was anyone even curious about what Aunt Luke's backstory/job was? I mean I spent half of my time with her trying to subltly (and occaisionally not so subltly) hype up that mystery.

If anyone was curious the rumours were that Abby was a mutant supervillain with variations on what her powers were and what her actual relationship with Aunt Luke was.

Yes. From the reactions of her schoolmates, and the context of WU, i was thinking local ex-supervillain, but i didn't expect this.

So what does this make Sawyer and the rest of them?

Nope, as stated earlier in the story Sawyer works with heroes. Well Heroes and hero teams that have appropriate corporate standing. Everything he does is above the board, he sells equipment to the corporate presence that represents the hero, recieves a reciet and everything shows up on his tax form.

The reason Sawyer let Aunt Luke stay after finding out about her job is: he didn't care. She doesn't do anything illegal, she just works with people who do.

You see niether of them are heroes/villains, they are just business people who happen to deal with one side of the fight more than the other. Aunt Luke would do a hero's taxes if they would trust her, and Sawyer would sell to a villain with the appropriate documentation.

Finally caught up on the story so far. Loved the dodgeball scene, shows what an EX-3 and Paragon 2 can do. And dang, definitely wasn't expecting Aunt Luke to have that history and work as a contract auditor for the Syndicate. Nice surprise, can't wait to read more when you get time to write again.

More is the next chapter. After that I've got a shorter story, then I go back to Abby (I have my plans all lined up).
