  • Besides the Elves and Animan, how many other races might be out there? I know there is mention of Orcs as well. But that's thanks to Jobe and not really natural selection. Any help would be appreciated.

  • There are Sidhe (elves), Animen (created by Dr. DNA), Weres (created by the first Sidhe as warriors), Orcs (Created by Jobe), Drow (also created by Jobe) and that's it, I believe.

Two things you need to know about me:
    One, I'm not my characters, no matter how much I may sometimes act like them;
Two, I really like watching thunderstorms from inside the house, reading, gaming and sleeping.

  • Part of this also is determined by what you mean by "race."

    What race is Billie?
    Sara?
    Caitlin?

I'm not sure about the Orks, they may still qualify as human.

    Dragons exist.

    Don't Drick and Drive.

  • I think that the Starkiller was a precurser construct, Billie is a human avatar with the Starkiller 'soul'.
Sara is a demon, one of the neutral ones.
Caitlin is an Artificer, which appear to be golem-like constructs which are bound with magic.

Orks may qualify as humans, depending if they can reproduce with them.

There are also GOOs and other beings.

  • There's the Trow. ... How do you classify the different types of Sidhe, like the Slaugh, and the Native American Tree Elves?

  • The Trow are like the Sidhe, not a biological race, but rather a 'race' of Cthhonic spirits that require a host to directly interact with the world. The 'Sidhe' mutation is basically a specialization of the Avatar trait that the resurgent Sidhe prefer or the Avatar trait might be considered a degeneration of the Sidhe Host adaptation of the humans. There is some debate on the subject.

You are close on the first two but not quite. The Starstalker aka Starkiller as you called her was a creation of the Isokists created to fight against the GOOs and their minions. And Sara is only part demon, she is more of a baby GOO that is neutral and on humanity's side. I remember these details from the older stories clearly. Especially the part where Billie's stomach growls loudly when she is first near Sara.

Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked. :-) Note: My story comments can't nor are trying to replace reading the stories, simply my way of enjoying them and letting the authors know I enjoy them.

Thank you for explaining that, I was not quite sure.

Also, I thought that it was said that the Trow were a subspecies of humans who inherit significant mystic power, I may be wrong on that though.

EDIT: I thought that the Sidhe were a biological race, that just now was resurfacing through mutations.

  • So by the sounds of it not too many. Which is good i suppose. Makes it easier on the character generation. Thanks for your help.

  • Actually, not as limited as you might think. We do, after all, also go into space... where there are LOTS of alien species.

Most of what you are listing as 'races' so far are 'made adaptations' - genetically modified humans with stable DNA that is able to be propagated through reproduction: Orks, Drow, Animen, Weres, etc. The others: mutants, Sidhe (the modern version)... are natural variations in the human DNA resulting in (potentially) viable stable DNA. Mutants and Sidhe do 'not' necessarily propagate their DNA to further generations, even with others of similar variations and definitely not with non-variant humans.

Trow... and many other paranormals are 'modified' humans that are only modified in 'unstable' ways. They are what they are as a result of what powers them and they often lose most if not all of those modifications if they also lose the means by which they gained power. This modification isn't so much a matter of DNA as it is body sculpting.

  • Also there is a mention, I think in a Billie story, that says "Human like aliens", so maybe there are a few human/alien hybrids wearing tights.

  • Regarding Kristin's "We do go into space" comment, if you wanted you could extrapolate what some of the Sundering Survivors might have manged to set up off Earth based on what was seen in Billie's Easter and Kodiak Conspiracy.
