  • I was doing some research for my Diar story and I came across the Fomorians, who strike me as either part of the Water Court, Sidhe, GOO servents, or some combo of all of the above. Which should I go with?

I am a caffeine heathen; I prefer the waters of the mountain over the juice of the bean. Keep the Dews coming and no one will be hurt.

  • I don't recall the details off the top of my head but you might check-out Insane Hiker's take on them for the Faolan stories... might help direct which way you want to go with them...

They could produce half-Fomorian children, so probably not the Sidhe. Also, the stories don't depict them anywhere near as baleful (except, maybe Balor) as a GOO servant race. They may not have been nice, but neither were they completely degenerate cesspools of inbred madness.

Even the Western Court wasn't entirely limited to the Sidhe, so I'd guess that one Fomor may be attached to one court, while others may have pledged allegiance to another. :???

  • Which tales of Fomorians? There are many. Are these Fomorians beasts with a single arm, eye, and leg? Or do they have one leg, four arms, and no head? Are they horribly deformed creatures with half their bodies withered away? Possibly the goat headed people? Though there are more of them in Irish myth as well.

All I can tell you is that they probably aren't Sidhe, they constantly warred with the Tuatha Du Danan (I hope I got that first word right) who are the fire court I think. The one that Nikki is from.

Don't worry to much about it, the Whateley stories don't follow Irish mythology to closely (or at all in some cases, they seem to be developing their own ancient world which fits all myths and powers together, which works fine for me), it is hard when there is so much missing.

If it comes to it I want a fight between a Balor (I hope I got the name right) reincarnation and some of the schools Sidhe. Balor had "a gaze so powerful it could set fields ablaze with fire" thats not being poetic, it's literal.

My dreams take me to far off lands and times of distant past and future. They tell what has been done, what will happen and who I am. They show me things beyond the machinations of any man. Tell me, what are dreams to you?

  • When I hear Fomorians I think of White Wolf's Fomori, creatures and humans distorted by the Wyrm so I tend to think they might be closer to the GOO's myself.

In the end reality is only consensual! It means that Al Gore is causing "Global Warming" by his rhetoric alone! Fortunately, there are enough Global Warming "Deniers" still about to keep him from boiling the planet.

  • I think Dresden Files or Insects. For some reason, it sounds like one of the insectoid races from DND or Pathfinder, but it also sounds like the (now) aquatic aligned loose knit alliance of things that came out of the woodwork after Dresden worked some Genocide-Fu.

  • I picture them as similar to the Jötunn, or the Titans, but I was reading Irish folklore long before the Dresden Files books or White Wolf games came out.

  • Here is an OK depiction of them. It's from a RPG but not bad as far as references go.

    Link to larger image.
Of coarse this is from what I think is a moble game so it's a cutesie image of it. But it gives you the basic appearance. It's supposed to be Titan sized and very terrifying.
Just imagine a Evangelion-esk nightmare version of it and you will get the idea.

And I don't think they fit in anywhere in the normal Whateleyverse. Probably from some extradementional plane like the Jötunn demons, not damens as they are from the southern cort, and gods.
Also killing them in the Whateleyverse will most likely not cause them do drop anything or ern you any XP.
