Question [G2] Vanguard

So, in Rises the Sun part 3, we find out that Vanguard is a secret militant arm of Evolution Rocks! They really are like the anti-MCO now, but with even worse ethical standards! And their connection to Green Cross, similar goals with different methods, ties all the way back to Baron Dämmerung?! Kewl!

If forced manifestation is their goal, should we wonder if Laura really was a test subject? And maybe are they the ones sponsoring Jamie Howe at Whateley?

So much to speculate about!

At least when I do something like this it's because I mixed up the forums and who could read them ... this is just being a tease!

I am going to repeat what I said in the Rises the Sun thread, we cannot trust their viewpoint, they are unreliable narrators due to being biased to the extreme, they are as reliable a perspective as H1/MCO, case in point, when the Gen 2 protags saved a kid before getting on the train, the H1 ass who tried to start with them got punched out by a baseline, whom was applauded for his actions. It is moments like that where public opinion is revealed, another example is how cooperative LEOs were with the MCO in Eisenmädel,

It seems like public opinion is swinging back around against the MCO. Incidents like New Orleans are doing wonders against the MCO.

They were riding high on Fullerton, and used panicked politicians for a power grab, but the public and a significant portion of government employees aren't having it, with the spread of gadgeteer tech, and I am sure the publicity of the Outcasts, people are seeing the deadly rager incidents as the exception rather than the rule. Of course they dressed up and diverted attention from their past well, Tia has no idea how dishonest they are.

We don't know how wide-spread the anti-mutant or pro-mutant sentiments are. We don't know all the incidents which the MCO has used to gain more power, or which incidents have caused it to be reined in a bit. We know that Ev Rocks is NOT doing much to highlight how much tech has come from mutant devisors and gadgeteers, or now many lives mutants and heroes have saved. All we do know for certain is that in one incident in Boston, and another in New Orleans, the sentiment is anti-H1 and possibly anti-MCO. It's not prudent to extrapolate the general public sentiment from such a small sample.

There's already a setup for a pretty interesting parallel with the Gen 2 cast. We've already seen Hikaru and Tia go at it over how evil the MCO really can be, with two very different (and both correct) viewpoints.

On the other hand, we've also been shown that Tanya supports Ev Rocks, or at least is sympathetic to what they're doing, ineffective though they may be. Tia has already been dragged into the political maelstrom, who's to say some asshole reporter doesn't start a retrospective series on everyday fallen mutant heroes, brings up Tanya's mother's sacrifice, and then finds out that her daughter is the spitting image of her. Tanya could potentially be approached by Ev Rock or Vanguard as a spokesperson and not know the truth.
