Question Brain Engram Tech. The sole province of Devisors?

    • I forget, are brain engram technologies, like the ones that Belphegor used to make Belphoebe, solely devises, or are brain engrams part of the science of the Whateley-verse?

    • Memory and nervous system mapping is not all that far beyond us right now scientifically. We don't necessarily understand what a lot of the details mean as we map out brain activity right now... but we can still do it. And if you can record it, you should 'theoretically at least' be able to stimulate an 'empty' brain to accept the external imprint.

    So no, I'd say it is not 'just' devisor tech. However, it IS far enough advanced from the real world that at least in the original timeline; it would take a gadgeteer to develop the tech. And... by the Gen 2 timeline, it is likely that someone has. However, that would likely be a restricted technology due to its potential association to AI development. So while it has probably been done by 2016, it is unlikely that it will be publicly available even then.
