  • Something that's bothered me from early on was that information about mutant had been driven to the Dark Net. So what's to be done if you haven't been initiated in the ways to access this info What is out the on the regular net?

  • There's sure to be some basic information about the more common mutant powers: just enough to scare people, not enough to compromise working heroes.

PubMed will feature hundreds of articles, guaranteed to be incomprehensible by the second sentence of the abstract.

  • Canonically, there's the .mut TLD which is reserved for mutant-centric sites, in the same way that .xxx was at one time proposed to be the home of pr0n sites -- the idea being that it would make it easy to filter for (pr0n|mutant stuff).
The failure of the concept is the observation that yes, I think there's a .xxx TLD now, but existing sites did not move to it, so filtering pr0n is a bit more complicated than blocking a single TLD.

In Gen1 Whateley, however, the .mut TLD apparently sorta-worked; there's a lot of mutant-geared sites out there in the .mut namespace, but major search engines such as Google simply don't index those because, well, not only there is a lot of bigoted pressure to keep that info out of reach of impressionable children, but also because many A-list supervillains have websites and don't care for "outsiders" visiting them and threaten "measured responses" of the "orbital bombardment" style against anybody who does it. Even mainstream DNS servers will refuse to resolve .mut domains. Karedonia makes a fair share of its money by hosting .mut websites, and I assume hosts DNS services that work for .mut websites.
(You would have to change your computer's DNS setting to use the GizDNS services instead of the usual ones, but first, you have to find out the IPs for GizDNS, and second, would YOU trust this service for your day-to-day browsing? It probably redirects all banking sites to phishing sites... in order to have convenient access to .mut sites, you pretty much have to run your own DNS server carefully configured to *only* recurse .mut requests to GizDNS and use other services for everything else.)

BUT, that's mostly for the people who *want* to avoid general scrutiny. Aboveboard organizations such as Evolution Rocks!, hero fansites and such will be found in the usual places.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

Gen1 and Gen2 have differences, especially the fansites, as shown in the Laura stories.

From the pov of GizDNS, they would be way harsher on phishing sites.

Remember that the Karedonian economy makes a large %-age of it's turnover from international banking, so they would have an interest in making sure that the phishing sites don't get started, as well as the capability to enforce those restrictions.

Also, look at what happened with HSBC in 2008, where the South American Cartels ended up laundering a lot of money through HSBC, as they were one of the few groups that still had liquidity, and a need for international transfers.

Also, also, watch the news for what is happening with Deutsche Banke over the last-couple-of-months/next-few-months. It's going to be messy. Lots of inspirational material for any financial-scam stories... :D
