Why is The Bastard in the Sierra Madre Mountains?
Is it just 'cause it's isolated? Or are there mystical reasons for that location? Or some other reason?

He couldn't get a time share in Florida.
Most likely it's isolated, so it was a good narrative place to plunk him down.

Think of it as in Superman's fortress of solitude. Nobody goes there and its a good place to be alone. Very, very alone. And I agree with Dom, no share time in the Bahamas as with any other tropical island. And Mount Everest is always overbooked as with the Grinch's hideaway.
Just him to chill out over his domination plans with him, himself and a bag of munchies.

Of course, one must wonder: is he there because the Sierra Madres are isolated? Or are the Sierra Madres isolated because he's there?

My question is 'If we come will he be there?'

No, no, no, no, no!
He's looking for the Treasure!
For some reason, he thinks he's Bogart!

Stupidity is a capitol offense, a summary not indictable one.

Probably because it was an easy spot for the author to drop him in.
Though, the Native Traditions do have a whole lot of holy places within them, so you can reasonably argue they have mystical importance.

On thinking it over, and noticing that his main battle tactic is Voodoo Wolves, I guess he set up shop in America, and the SM Mountains in particular, 'cause it nets him tons of Weres to make his VWs with.
Do we see him with any other minions/mooks? Like the Mythos Golems and Mythos Nymphs (Living stones and trees and plants, for those who don't grok my terms.) that are talked about when we got informed on what actually happened during the Sundering? ... Was that from Wakan Tanka, or Grizzly and Kodiak? Don't think it was Aung, 'cause she died by then?
