I'm not sure if it came from a fanfic, or canon.

I thought it was one of Roulette's inventions, but on a skim, I didn't see any mentions of it...

  • You might be thinking of the devise that Lady Havoc created for herself in A Steel Ribbon. The headband was only part of the devise.

  • Lady Havoc, Ribbon's daughter, created a Devise that would knock her out if she she went into Diedrick's episode. When Ribbon shut it off she had recovered from the episode. She is wearing a modified version that lacks the built in forcefield.

  • And it doesn't exactly suppress her Deidricks. It just knocks her out of an episode (more or less literally).

  • Yes it does. As others have said it appears in the story A Steel Ribbon by Morphius. This story was written as fan fiction but has since become canon. The thing is that its a devise, so chances are that it will only ever work for Lady Havoc herself and no one else. I think we have precedent in the story as the same was true of her cancer cure, it could cure her fathers caner but also wouldn't work for anybody else.

The cancer cure would likely work on any blood relative, but they would also need to be an unmanifested mutant to survive.

Lady Havoc built lots of gear for others, but I believe the anti Diedrick's device was tuned to her brain.

  • The answer, like with most things of that sort is, just because you see A devise that can do it... doesn't mean its viable for anyone else. Diedricks wouldn't be a very scary affliction for devisors if every devisor were capable of creating something that suppressed it.
