  • Good grief, they are worse than the G1 Spy Kids, instead of going to the authorities with their suspicions they act on their own and act like they are the law. Bug Morgana to spy on Bianca, without a warrant anything overheard would be thrown out in an instant.

I think its sort of endemic with what the Spy Kids do - which is basically to spy on other students, after all! - that this sort of action seems normal to them. My personal take is they go this way until finally they overstep and get slapped back, then after a while the cycle starts up again.

Eep, just how many students have issues with students of a particular gender due to past trauma or something to do with their powers like Coldsnap and her spirit?

The problem with Noells its that her spirit has the problems, so it can't be handled by the normal methods for a traumatised teen.

Darn it, Geniève, behave yourself and let Noelle have the life she wants.

But where's the fun in that?? :D

I hope, for once, that the band trip can just be a band trip and nothing else happens.

Thursday 20th October, late evening, Morgana's room. Shopping trip on Sunday and invite Laura along to cheer her up. *begs for it to be a normal shopping trip*

A band trip and a shopping trip with Whateley students. What could possibly go wrong...

So she will out her cottage mates if paid enough, ugh.

Given a big enough reward, yes she would. It would have to be worth the consequences, of course, but she is in the Masterminds.

Healing magic sounds like one of the more complex forms of magic, with a level of training to be a Healing Specialist equal or greater than a normal M.D.

It is. To be a really effective healer, you need to be an MD as well. Mind, not just healing - to get the most out of any use of magic in the real world, you need to be an expert in the physical sciences as well.
Thats why the mages we normally see in the Whateley stories are the outliers - most mages dont waste their time prancing around in spandex! It wastes far too much valuable time.
Of course, the EMT type of course Morgana is looking at is pretty much a standard requirement for a mage who wants to get a post in a reputable super-team, but thats relatively straightforward. Its mainly combat medic knowledge

And with Whateley students on a trip outside Whateley something always happens, I swear the odds of something not happening are below 5% at least from all the trips we've seen. Sound advice all around.

Oh come on, its not THAT bad odds! Well, usually. Mostly. Look, it wasn't our fault!!

In one or two cases, the impolite one being more 'likely to induce projectile vomiting'.

Are we sure Jericho doesn't have any young relatives who are going to Whateley by Gen 2? Or did they see pictures of him somehow and took his style of dress as inspiration? *shudders*[/quote]

Have you SEEN some of the outfits and colour schemes some teens find 'appropriate' ??

Bianca needs to figure out a color that compliments white while not advertising her identity for all to see.

    Cream. Ivory. Ice :D

Aww, this visit just so Eldritch can get all she needs from Thulia to attune the amulet she is making for her. I was hoping Morgana could show Thulia around campus, see some of the reactions of the students to them together.

It will happen, just not yet.

More waiting, you'd think there was some sort of plot stopping us from spending time on our own.*continues reinforcing the fourth wall with mithril i-beams*

    Couldn't possibly comment...

"It seems weird that your Artificer has a name and her own free will, all our stories of them describe them as servants with no free will of their own. Odd enough itself that she's here, our stories say they all left this plane eons ago." I wonder where those stories came from.

Stories, fable, ancient history.. really the sort of things a teenager like Thulia hasn't really bothered with. She probably has about as much useful knowledge about artificers as a modern US teenager has about Ghengis Khan

*bangs head on desk* Caitlin, not everything from another dimension that appears to be a demon is a demon. Bella is right, their feelings for each other are true, don't you ruin it for them, Caitlin.

caitlin really doesn't trust demons. Give her time.

Gasp, Laura is a bad influence on Bianca! Alone time with Thulia, at Poe. I fear that might not be possible with the number of gossips in that cottage.

Oh, with Bianca's help alone time is possible. Of course, that just increases the level of rumour considerably...

Keep in mind that the Gen 1 Spy Kids got into serious trouble in just that way. They tagged Phase at least once , and had several students (mostly the Bad Seeds and some of the Masterminds) under around-the-clock surveillance using Kew's drones. Hell, they even bugged their own club advisors - including slipping one into Ms. Hagarty's bra! They did it so compulsively that She-Beast was able to use it against them the day they were supposed to start Spring Break 2007.

I think this is pretty much rinse-and-repeat from them as a new bunch joins, and ends up getting in the same trouble (for the same reasons).

They've got their age, experience, knowledge levels, personalities, and sometimes powers working against them in a game which requires humility, impulse control, and an acute awareness of the balance between what little one knows for a certainty and the universe of things one can never be certain of.

Those going into the trade to prove that anyone who opposes them in some way is a Bad Person,
Those who are in it only for the adrenaline rush,
Those looking to prove their superior knowledge, skills, sneakiness, etc.,
Those who don't look beyond an immediate goal of "get 'em",
Those who don't plan for being wrong about the situation they put themselves in,
...are pretty much going to self-select themselves out of the gene pool sooner or later, if they keep it up.

But those are the teens most likely to think that Kim Possible has a wonderful life. So the school lets them faceplant in a minimally lethal environment until they get a clue. Meanwhile each one is building a reputation that will limit their access to things they shouldn't be doing.

  • That's pretty solid reasoning, Null.
Remember, Whateley is a school, and one thing that makes it different is its also teaching the kids how to survive in a world that's often hostile to mutants.
Letting them find out what doesn't work is effective (if a bit rough), but its a lot better than them finding out later.

  • Hey Karma, go play with the Tela Tubbies.

-head shake- Ok, I admit I haven't lined up dates, but the Tubbies are pulling this as real crimes are going down. Shame.:pinch:

  • Which real crimes?
Laura's crime against chocolate was last week...

I was thinking the attempted theft of the super soldier formula, but like I said, I didn't look to see hot Bad Karma fitted into the timeline.

  • I have stuff planned :)
However before that will be the Morpheus story involving the girls shopping trip that's been mentioned in this story (they overlap in time, so avoiding cross-spoilers was impossible)

IIRC, Bad Karma is set after this story, but it isn't part of the main timeline

They could visit a museum, a restaurant, or a defunct military base.

What I wonder is exactly how many of the faculty routinely scan for bugs. Eldritch, Imp, Carson, and Hartford all did/do, how many others? I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I can wait for the next part, but I don't want to.

Probably quite a few, but normally in their offices/worshops/etc, not public spaces.

  • Karma: PN: The code name for a young child on campus. She is presumably the daughter of Chicken Hawk and Imp. Only Imp is known for sure to be Susan Moriah's mother, but there is plenty of evidence that Mischief is Karma's half sibling...

Neither would be comfortable for the spy-kids to experience in their business. Can you imagine Karma deciding to paint them neon colors, that don't wash off?
