  • I was just getting ready to create the topic as it hadn't been created yet. Guess I don't need to.

Enjoyable read, and I stand by my assertion that Karma has manifested as a probability mangler.

How do you do power testing for that power anyways?

You could always put them in a room with another odds mangler, to see what happens.

If the room ceases to be, they may just be a mangler.

  • 7 stars out of 5. (Two bonus stars for Karma owning the bestest book ever written.)

As much fun as Karma stories are, the lack of a certain Chickenhawk is somewhat disconcerting. I suppose he might be trying to keep Mischief out of mischief, or doing something else.

I give the super secure vault a month before Karma breaks in. Just because it will be at least two days before she's running around campus again, and another week to find a ladder.

  • My favorite bit was the slow reveal of who the devisor shop teacher actually is; I don't think we've seen her in Gen 2 before this. But I could have blinked and missed it.

Agreed with Valentine on the great choice of book; it really is a classic.

I say the best book ever is Ignition!: An Informal History of Liquid Rocket Propellants. That book might not be allowed at Whateley, some people might take some of the stories in it as suggestions...

And to continue on my thoughts... That Mirror Drop... Denying its use to Doma Know... Regular Unlucky or Mangler (Un)Lucky? What would Doma have manged to do with it that's bad for the Mangler, if so?

Hmm... Retrofit Senior is on campus, no? Could he repair it? Would he repair it?

We haven't seen too many Devisor Shop teachers fixing student projects. Even if he could, would Twitch know that he could?

I assumed you were referring to "The Monster at the End of This Book". A rare case of people being hired to create a media tie-in book and shooting so far past the goal they created a genuine classic.

Yes, although my reason is that it is the ONLY book I remember owning and reading from before I started school. A number of years ago I saw a stack for sale and bought myself a new copy.

  • I had an idea of how things would end when there was no mention of no new danger scenes being triggered when the bomb was stolen.

I think Karma's already manifested. As a Finder, who always set to find trouble.

    Wouldn't surprise me.

It scares me that with the skills she already has I really can't think of any powers that Karma can't use to her advantage somehow.

  • So... "Mrs. Hastings," eh?
    1. It seems there are a number of parallels between Rachel's life and the Imp's life. Including the Batman/Catwoman relationships, and ending up as Whateley teachers. And having adopted daughters, too.
    2. It also seems that this reveals the surname of a Gen1 character heretofore known only as "Roger."

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

in that sense she's no different than anyone, except she can do things already that most adults with powers have difficulty with

2 technically that's unconfirmed, but more probable to be confirmed sooner than the identity of the Financier.
