I noticed something recently: is his codename 'Ringo', or 'Ring 0' (i.e., kernel level privilege)? Or both?

IIRC, "Ring 0" has never been used?

OK, fair enough. However, I am wondering if it is officially 'Ringo', but that he chose it as a pun.
Or perhaps deliberate misdirection, pointing to his musical skills (we first meet him under that name in the Halloween music competition, remember?) as a reference to Ringo Starr, while secretly hinting at his real powers and interests.
I am also wondering if the BLUE in gen 2 is still 'just' Ringo's online persona, or if Ringo somehow uploaded himself (or was forcibly uploaded by another?). Alternately, it could be that something happened to Ringo, and CLU took the BLUE mantle in honor of his creator (though that doesn't quite mesh with Nacht's comment about going to Whateley together). Or some combination thereof...

Yeah, I hit my head on the desk with that realization a while ago... some other possible explanations:
- He submitted the codename in writing as "Ring0" (intending to pronounce it "Ringo") but whoever did the data entry misunderstood;
- He chose Ringo as sort of reverse-1337speak

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

Have we (rather, the POV characters) ever seen his codename in writing, is the question. It might very well be entered as Ring0, but pronounced for convenience as Ringo (or a mispronunciation caught on and has become de facto).
Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

As of Halloween 2016:
"Ringo" occurs seven times in "The Devil's Dance"
An entity in cyberspace, calls Ringo "Flynn" while searching for Arc in the Net, referring to Tron's Kevin Flynn as Clu's creator.
In "To Be Merry and Escape From It All"
So Merry/Chad (Arc) at least perceives Blue as the guy, Clue as his AI, and Bit is a bot.

Between the various tics of time, I had noticed Blue or Clue’s arrival. It’s hard to miss that whole ‘rezzing in thing’ he is fond of, the guy seriously had Tron on the brain.
...
“Up and down are relative Blue,” I figured it was Blue by the mostly human sounding dialog. ‘Whee.’
“Um don’t look now, but we have company,” Sara said and turned me to look at a dimly glowing ball.
“Cute it is a Bit,” I looked at it critically then addressed it, “so Bit, is Clue or Blue your User?”
“Yes, yes!” it replied changing color and shape briefly.
So Merry/Chad (Arc) at least perceives Blue as the guy, Clue as his AI, and Bit is a bot.
