  • EDIT: Renamed as the general Tennyo Thread...

    What happens if Billie starves?

I guess she won't die 'cause of her Star Stalker Physiology, but how does she react, I wonder?

Does she became more Star Stalker-y in personality, like a Hibernation Mode?

Or given, that the Star Stalker might be part-GOO Physiology, does she start eating like Sara?

    Or something else?

  • Covered in the Jade Babysitter story.

Short version? Billy really really doesn't like it

  • Since the Star Stalker is an "anti-GOO" I doubt she would start eating like Sara. In my opineon she would likely just get very hungry and cranky, but since I do not believe she getts her energy from food that is all that I think would happen.
Remember, she has anti-matter in her body. To get energy equivalent of a grain of anti-matter from food she would have to eat a ton or more everyday. (That's an off-hand estimate, I didn't do the computation.)

Jade and Billie get locked in a pocket dimension.

Billie goes from realising this to totally psycho in nothing flat and Jade has to calm her down.

  • She probably wouldn't start eating like Sara, she might try to eat Sara, or that Shoggoth that is running around Campus, or any number of things chasing after Kayda, or even Reverend Englaeiound.

  • Considering where Whateley is based, there shouldn't really be a shortage of entities for her to eat... :)

That's assuming that Billie digests things in a similar manner to humans which we know she doesn't, nothing comes out, but if food is the matter component of a matter antimatter reaction...

  • Actually, starvation is a very serious risk for those mutants who have high levels of regen. Their bodies can and will start to consume themselves quickly to supply the energy necessary to sustain the rest of the body in perfect health. But the amount of energy that takes isn't really going to be much different from that of a baseline human unless they're doing something to cause a lot of damage to their body or consume its resources another way. The extra food that Energizers and PK eat doesn't sit in the physical body in the sense that normal people eat and store fat/etc. That food is consumed by special processes and fuels the extradimensional power system that allows them to tap non-physical world energy fields.

However, if you're talking about the eating of mythos critters... Billie isn't reliant on that in the same sense that Sara has to eat life force or baselines eat food. It's not even really 'eating'... that just happens to be the mechanic that makes the most sense for taking an external entity into her to consume it. Without turning this into an X rated thing.

  • One thing I am curious about, and don't really expect an answer, but do Fey's hobgoblins, or the various ectoplasms (Belle's, etc.) feed Billie the same way that Phesclangorenthal's did?

  • Again, you have to keep in mind that the idea of Billie being hungry for, eating them, digesting them, etc... is an abstract concept translated into something that makes some sense to a humanoid being. It's a cosmic weapon driven to seek out a specific sort of target and destroy them, in the process using some of the energy freed up to further power the weapon itself.

It's like going out to dinner and then a movie. You still buy popcorn. You just ate, popcorn has like zero nutritional value. But if you're sitting there with a date and you don't have a thing of popcorn to share, something seems missing. And even if you're full, nutritionally healthy, you'll probably still eat some of the popcorn... because movie theatre popcorn is too damn expensive to just leave uneaten. But if you manage to ignore the psychological side of things and your date doesn't get pissed off because you didn't buy the popcorn to share with her... you won't die from not having popcorn while watching your movies.

Val: ectoplasm and energy constructs are not class X entities. :)

  • I don't have a problem avoiding the psychological push to buy popcorn -- because I find movie theater popcorn disgusting. It smells like rancid lard. Same reason I don't buy microwave popcorn, too -- that greasy "flavoring" that they put in it, which not only smells rancid but also leaves the whole kitchen smelly. And it comes with about 2000% of the recommended yearly allowance of sodium for an adult blue whale, per serving. You can hardly taste the delicate flavor of the popcorn under that assault.

I don't eat theater popcorn because it costs more than the movie ticket, and it's not very good.

The Phantom Tollbooth wrote: “It's completely logical," explained the Dodecahedron. "The more you want, the less you get, and the less you get, the more you have. Simple arithmetic, that's all. Suppose you had something and added something to it. What would that make?"
    "More," said Milo quickly.
"Quite correct," he nodded. "Now suppose you had something and added nothing to it. What would you have?"
"The same," he answered again, without much conviction.
"Splendid," cried the Dodecahedron. "And suppose you had something and added less than nothing to it. What would you have then?"
"FAMINE!" roared the anguished Humbug, who suddenly realized that that was exactly what he'd eaten twenty-three bowls of.”

Maybe not particularly relevant, but this is where my mind went after your analogy.
