  • Given this:

    From Tea With a Serpent:

She stood up from her bed and turned. This was not the room she had shared with Ayla. She was no longer in her best friend’s room. There was no threat of Brass Monkey to get her up and out of bed early. No threat of Ayla phasing down and spooning against her naked. But there was no chance she would have late night talks with the one person in this damn hallway who understood that despite acclimatizing she still wanted to be a boy, that she still dreamed about it occasionally.

Does she still feel some gender dysphoria at the current time (~Summer 2007), I wonder?

... Well, we haven't got her POV, all I can do is guess, I guess...

Probably. I suspect that as long as her father is trapped by the demon, Chou cannot move forward in life. Hopefully she is training with Kayda these days so we will get a glimpse of Chou dealing with the tangled tapestry and her father's kidnapping.

  • Her Summer (2007) will be dealt with and you will hear what occurred. Elrod dragged me back to work with him on Kayda so I will be writing Chou stuff. Will there be more than the occasional bit? Maybe, don't know.

And as for her spring break trip, it was to all Disney parks. The Immortals dragged her around the world, hitting the Magic Kingdom only. The Monkey King got involved... and yeah... crazy. Honestly it was one of the more positive events of her Freshman year.

  • That's good to hear. There's been enough suck going around, and Chou got the short of end of the stick of far too much of it, that I'm glad to hear that her summer wasn't too terrible.

  • Now... I didn't exactly say that. Let's just say that some events transpired to make Chou relax.

  • Is Chou relaxing the same way Lanie and Wyatt, Kayda and Debra, or Steve and Marty are relaxing?

(and yes, I'm expecting a big RAFO* on that, but I had to ask)

Hey - since the 'doping' scandal with Sara's essence, Kayda hasn't 'relaxed' like that!

At least not with anyone but Debra ;)

Kayda sure found the showers quite relaxing (and perhaps a bit addictive)

  • Some have noted that Chou seems more content and relaxed, and possibly even accepting of her femininity. This is not an aberration on my part writing her. Chou's scenes have been contributed by Heather O'Malley, aka Bladedancer, aka poetheather. Chou's author. It is my privilege to include her work in my latest little tale.

I can confirm there is another major Chou scene yet to happen in Kayda 10, and Heather has indicated that she'd love to contribute more. We WILL see more Chou.

  • For some reason I can see Chou being Whateley's Headmistress some day once/if she survives her stint as the Handmaiden. I also see, for some reason, Cait making her a Destiny's Wave knock off; not as powerful, doesn't talk back, but still useful for an Ex-Handmaiden with enemies.

Can't decide if I see her as taking the path of immortality with Molly (I'm sorry, I don't like Chainy) or the two of them just growing old together. I do see them ending up with a bunch of kids by way of either magic or science.

  • Well, if you're looking for someone who understands what it means to be neutral...

I'm not sure how well she'd do as the public face of the school, though. I feel like the school needs a pillar of upstanding goodness in its upper echelons in order to reassure normal everyday parents that their kids are in absolutely no danger (which is a bald-faced lie, but it's important that they believe it). Carson is that person in G1, and Falcon is in G2. And it seems unlikely to me that Chou will be able to fill that role. But at the same time, they also need a villain to counterbalance the paragon of goodness. Maybe she'll have two assistant heads? That could work.

  • I think she would do a good job of that, simply because she isn't attached to either side. By that point people will know she has killed people and saved people in fairly equal measure. That would make her ideal for keeping Whateley utterly neutral.

  • It's really up to her author whether we give her cameos in Gen 2 to establish that she lives through whatever crap is thrown her way and that she's got some role and maybe gen 2 stories. And I'm sure Heather will give us her opinion.

I'm glad to see more info about Chou. Got an idea I'll have to work with regard to late October for Chou, Molly, and Kayda. Rough idea, but we'll see if it gets any traction.

  • I am good with her having cameos in Gen 2. That might be fun. By then Chou will be fairly different and will probably have people a touch uncomfortable around her for not knowing what the hell she is going to do at any given time.

  • Almost all my Chou stories have Taoist themed titles plus there is often a quote from the Tao Te Ching. Since I am currently translating the Tao Te Ching, one of the chapters I finished lent me the perfect chapter title to my mind. The the chapter quote also opens the story.

So, sorry, no Chou in Atlantis story.

I pointed your stories out to a friend who practises/teaches T'ai Chi, and studies/practises Taoist alchemy.

He thoroughly approved of them, and really enjoyed the Five Elements stories.

He said that they gave him ideas for new things to try.

And that the depictions of Sun Wu Kong were very accurate.
