  • It's Summer of 2007, and we have some homeless students. So where do these students go?

From memory, we have a few that were either kicked out, semi-kicked out, orphaned, or for some other reason (safety) are unlikely to go home.

    Generator
    Bladedancer
    Aquerna
    Diamondback
    Silver
    Belphoebe
    Sahar
    Lancer (maybe)

Now just speculate on where they spend part or all of their summer. (If you want to write a story check to see that you aren't stomping on a Canon story idea. (Sorry))

Obviously some of the Thornie's aren't going anywhere, Puppet, Olympia, and a few others.

I listed some ideas for Jade in the Jade thread.

Edit: Crossed off some for speculation.

  • I'm guessing that they stay with friends or significant others.

    Generator will stay with Tennyo
Bladedancer will stay with Molly, at least while she's not touring China.
Aquerna will probably go home with Kamuro again, or maybe stay with a different friend.
Diamondback might go with Jericho and Razorback to Austrailia again. Or maybe not. But either way, Jericho will be with her.
Silver probably has friends that we do not know about. She might hang out with Seraphim, but Seraphim's family is in Witness Protection, so that's kind of a non-starter as well.
Belphoebe goes where Jobe goes, of course.
    Sahar will stay with Zenith
    Lancer can stay with Wallflower.

I'm sure that Whateley maintains summer housing for students who can't go home, either because they have power or health related problems, or because they don't have homes anymore but that they also heavily encourage students to stay with friends rather than stay at Whateley if they can.

  • Let's leave Generator, Belphoebe, and Lancer off the list for speculations please. We are already showing you some of Jade's summer, Belphoebe is tied into current material with Jadis and Jobe, and Lancer is being worked on by Phoenix.... so if you start playing with those you might be stepping on toes.

I don't think there are any immediate plans to do summer oriented scenes with anyone else on that list, so you can speculate fairly safely with those.

  • My WMG: Silver stays with Seraphim, and both stay with Eldritch, trying to make a financial buffer over the summer, when there's less classes?

... Whateley does have Summer courses? ... Hmm... the TLW might all become Froshes by grabbing enough creds over the summer... If they aren't already froshes...

There might be some students Whateley wants to stay at school for the materials or something?, like the Diamond Whatever, who made the old Crystal Hall panes, which didn't change during the Senior upgrade?

Is Whateley any safer during the Summer??

Maybe not... When else would they overhaul the reactors?

  • Actually, the most dangerous thing that happens over the Summer at Whateley is the inevitable squads of curious Summer Campers who try to sneak into 'the Haunted School'

  • So Jade will have a summer job pretending to be the ghosts?

I think with just the Hawthorn residents and a few helpers they can manage, after all they not only have their own Prof. X + humour in a squid tank, but access to top notch holograms and illusion magic.

  • It's likely Whateley has a bunch of security measures to limit the number of people accidentally stumbling onto campus (or, rather, from getting anywhere near enough to sight it) - ranging from the passive: geography (e.g. streams / rivers between campus and actively used areas e.g. camping grounds) and biology (thick undergrowth including lots of brambles), to the more active: the Medawhila Tribe plus various electronic sensors (the network likely extended a significant distance from campus following various attacks in the 2006/7 academic year) and magical wards. In the unlikely scenario of baselines arriving at campus, it's likely the warding includes a mild perception filter, just to discourage anyone who thinks it might be fun to roam around what appears to be a boarding school, and no doubt a Security patrol would quickly intercept them (having been spotted on the sensor network long before arriving at the boundary).

There is at least one campground within walking distance of campus. Billie and Harry ran into an injured boy and his brother from there.

Likely there is a " Somebody Else's Problem Field " over the Campus, and probably the Were village too. Or perhaps a Doctor Who Perception Filter
