A powerful pre-cog manifests as a mutant and foresees the return of the Great Old Ones. This is the story of her arrival at Whateley Academy for mutants and her first few weeks at a school where anything can happen and usual does. Here she will begin to learn about her gifts and how to use then in the fight against the return of the GOO

... What's so good about it? Is it funny, twisty, dark, (some other adjective)? And, if anyone wants a link to it, it's on BigCloset, here.

If you just want people to read it, Canonicity isn't exactly an issue, unless it diverges from canon drastically, without explanation... Either out-of-universe, due to being a Crack-fic, or in-universe, where changing one thing in one location butterflies into large changes eventually.

  • Ya, I gave this story a quick read since it keeps coming up with someone posting stuff about it on the wiki and so forth. It's not bad. I'd slot it in the middle region of the WA non-canon stuff. It's main issue, for my money, is that while it is inherently consistent... the story is highly 'reactive' and linear. Something happens, and immediately actions or other random events occur to resolve it. From that point, it is basically dropped and left in the past. Each scene or segment is resolved using new abilities that the character didn't know she had or through purchasing/acquiring new gear that took no effort to get. There are few obstacles, certainly nothing that challenges the main character.

As far as canon potential goes? This character and story simply cannot be canon. As I mentioned in the other thread, there are specific elements that really make a story not able to be reworked to canon... and this one breaks every one of those cases. More importantly, the author has specifically put his character into the direct path of several major plotlines as well as the developmental arcs of many of the PoV characters. Even if there were no plans for those moments already developed, that would be a huge no no for working in a shared setting.

So, thanks for sharing a link to the story... it was worth reading. But I can say definitely that this story simply cannot be canon... it would require almost the only concept to be reworked and the existing material to be rewritten, for little gain.
