  • Anyone watching this show. I just canceled my PVR recording of the series and walked away from it.

I just can't suspend disbelief anymore. The level of plot contrivance we are expected to accept is just too much.

I know this seems off topic for here, but I see it as an example of really bad writing. It annoyed me so badly I just had to express it somewhere.

That is only my opinion. Others may differ.

  • It's a Kiefer series. If fans of Kiefer endured the ridiculous plot contrivances in Season 1 of "24", they probably can endure whatever plot contrivances this new series throws at them.
Clarification: I stopped watching "24" at the point that Moronic Friend of Moronic Spawn of Kiefer was in surgery after being ran over when escaping from the Evil Conspiracy's clutches... and it turns out that the Evil Conspiracy somehow had taken control of the hospital security system -- despite there being *no good reason* why they should have spent any energy beforehand on hacking the hospital, and the timeline involved being ridiculously short for a spur-of-the-moment hack job. I mean, if it's that easy for them to take over computer systems, why are they bothering with nukes? They could control the country from a laptop.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

  • That may have been the nail in the coffin, but even before that the only shows I really watched were Buffy and Angel. The news was about the only other thing I used cable for.
I just dislike the very passive media format of TV and movies.

  • Designated survivor jumped the shark on episode 1.

Aslo, Domo, I recommend the new Tomb Raider game if you haven't played it. It's very much all the best aspects of a do it yourself Micheal Bay film.

I know, but the premise of wiping out the entire government leadership and being forced to start from scratch had so much potential.

The how it happened was immaterial in my mind compared to the story potential of rebuilding the government.

If I'd have been writing it I'd have stuck with the terrorists got lucky, and moved that to the side as something they would deal with, while focusing on the maneuvering and manipulating that the powers that be would be franticly indulging into retain their hold on the elected government.

Imagine a president no one has his hooks into. A congress that had to be elected within a few weeks instead of months of electioneering.

Most of all, a true fresh start.

What I am sure would happen in this case IMO

is that each state, would pull from its own already very polluted well of state senate and congress and it would be Rinse and repeat with new faces!

Maybe, but how many candidates who find it impossible to say Muslim and terrorist in the same sentence would be elected.

The reason for the special elections would pretty much insure a strong right wing conservative slant taking center stage. In fact the hawks would likely enjoy a dominance that didn't even exist during world war two. And as the show has shown they already have plans in motion to take out the liberal president.

Now that I think of it, that may be part of this whole stupid over the top conspiracy.

Pretty clear now that the poor maligned Muslims are just the fall guys for an evil 'white' conspiracy.
