  • I have to see my doc to go over lung xray results wednesday.

2 exasperations of my copd so she ordered lung xrays. I had those taken yesterday.
normally it is 2 business days for results to get to her, so next day is very fast.
she only calls if the results show bad news.

what a great way to stress me out until wednesday.

I'm hoping it is only that there is enough small damage to require home oxygen, not something like suspicious dark mass requiring biopsy ( cancer )

  • Ya, that's not the sort of phone calls you like to get over the holidays. Here's hoping it was just an anomaly in phone call practices rather than something that worried your physician.

Not possible, this practice is something I have known about for years. My doctor does not contact you about results at all unless there is an issue.

the 1 day result for an xray when 2 business days meant Tuesday or Wednesday would be the norm makes it extremely unlikely that it is an error in handling their normal contact process.

  • Hopefully it's nothing more than a "this is alarming, and here is the behavior you need to take to fix it."

If not, well, lung medicine has come a long way.

  • X-Ray results today.

pneumonia in the bottom of my left lung.
scarring in the top of my lungs.

    and the most troublesome

    a thickening of the pleural.
this is the membrane that surrounds your lungs, the thickening adds a restriction to inhaling.
    translated:
    1) asthma, a difficulty exhaling
    2) emphysema a difficulty exhaling
    both are forms of COPD
    3) thickening pleural causing difficulty inhaling.
    the beginning of CRPD
    Chronic Restrictive Lung Disorder.

both COPD and CRPD are degenerative, they aren't going to get better.
