... OMG! Is this the first MtG reference we've had on these forums??! And I mean for their whole history. Like wut? ... There's gotta be some other one somewhere, no? *Thinks on ideas for Whateley MtG cards again...*

Because MTG deserves it's own thread!

As for Whateley cards, the first idea that came to my mind was a Death and Taxes Ayla. Not just a single card, but the whole archetype is just a perfect fit.

By the way Nalley, I wasn't able to find what card you were referencing up there. :3

  • Whoops! Haven't heard Archetype like that before... What kind of deck would that be? A Miller, going for the win on the inevitable power of running out of cards?

Generator Cards... Black for Madness? How much Blue should she be... She's a thinker, isn't she?

Chaka is soo Red! All energetic and stuff!

Devs and Gadgs all need some Blue for the thinky...

  • Generator, I'd see more likely as Blue. Levitation, Animate Artifact, and a lot of madness goes by Blue. The real question thouhg: Would Jinn be Black, or an artifact?

I'd see Fey as being a gold card, considering she supposively controls all the elements...

Tennyo would have to be Red, considering Plasma and such. Sara has to be black... Chou would be White, most likely.

  • Chou would be colourless, any colour would activate her as she is all about balance and none being superior.

Hank and Ayla are white as they're all about order and law.
Chaka is green, she seems to be the most about being alive and full of energy

  • Chaka is definitely red. Red is impulsive and lets its emotions run free. Green finds peace in being one with nature, letting free their instincts. Fey would be a better fit for green, but I don't see her as being pure green. Green/White?

Generator as blue, especially with all the artefact animation support that went on in the last two years.

I see Tenno's powers as black since they are so focused on utter destruction, but Tenno herself is quite impulsive yet insecure about it. I see her as Red/White/Black, if going three colours makes sense.

    Rip - Blue
Vox - Blue? White? Blue has most of the siren effects and mind-control
Thuban - Blue-red. Manipulative yet driven by emotionally caring about his faction 3 members
Jobe - Black. Diseases, viruses, drow. The only other colour combination he could go into is Blue/Green for all the biomanipulation

Not a lot of green now that I think about it. Aquerna?

  • Green might fit for Kodiak, Razorback, any of the werewolves, and a lot of the animal-types, especially close to nature. Not to mention those specialists with plants.

Caitlin might be colorless, considering she's basically a living artifact.
Jericho woudl be white, since he's training to be a medic?
Diamondback would be blue, considering the spell casting she uses.
As for the terror twins, black might be fitting for the fear aura they pack.

  • I'd go more with red with Caitlin since she has so much repressed anger to deal with. I might also go with red for the fury twins since they are at the mercy of their emotions, and red also has the Intimidate keyword (the spiritual successor of black's fear)

Wouldn't Diamondback be green? Casting spells is something every colour can do, but green places higher focus on empathy, belonging and instinct, which I think fit better with Diamondback's personality.

  • ^ Well, DB's a pretty good thinker too, and got that Astral stuff... There can be Multi-colors, remember... Although if you're arguing about a Primary color, I dunno. ... Maybe you gotta count Ryan in there as well, if you're only taking Sandra into account?

  • Let's see...
    Kimbas:
Hank - White - soldier, protector, etc
Chaka - Red, maybe a touch of green
Fey - Green. Green-Red for a while, but now mostly Green again
Jade - Red. Red is the color of glorious chaos, and nobody does glorious chaos better than Jade
Tennyo - I don't have as good a feel for Tennyo as I do some of the others, but probably white
Ayla - Blue, Black, and White (yes, all of them). Blue for his obsession with knowing everything, white for his obsession with helping everyone, and Black because he understands the natures of power.
Chou - White, the color of Balance and of subsuming your will for a greater good.

Sara - Black/Red - Walks the darker paths to power, but primarily interested in passion.
    Jobe - Blue/Green - he's a Simic if there ever was one
Caitlin - hard to say. I'd pin Hijacker as Red/White, but we haven't seen enough of Caitlin to know if she's still the same colors.
    Jericho - Blue/Red
    Razorback - Red/Green

    Kayda - Green/White
    Lanie - Blue/Red
Kodiak - Green/Red, with maybe a touch of white, which probably has grown in G2.

    Stacy - White
Imp - Red, with maybe a tinge of Blue.

I'm just going to stop here, because the WU has far too many characters. (And I mean that in the best of ways)

Death and taxes is an archetype of deck (normally in white or black) that stops your opponent from being able to play by increasing the cost of doing anything to a ridiculous degree.

It forces the opponent to lose life/pay mana/discard cards/sac creatures/etc every time they cast a spell/attack/block/etc.

It also stops them from playing in other ways such as limiting their card draw or stopping them from untapping.

The decks take a bit to set up and go for a slow drawn out death of the opponent. You wouldn't think a deck whose whole stategy is sit there and wait for them to kill themselves would work as well as these normally do.

My dreams take me to far off lands and times of distant past and future. They tell what has been done, what will happen and who I am. They show me things beyond the machinations of any man. Tell me, what are dreams to you?
