the old brown tone of the forum was nice on the eyes...but this white...help me I am snow blind!

Ah, so it wasn't just me.

I think that it was a Joomla update feature, mine is back to normal.

The recent Joomla update messed with how we had things... Kristin's been patching them to try to fix the site back to what we need ( or at least to a new state of being able to function somewhat normally) but in this case functionality beats aesthetics... at least in regards to first things to be taken care of...

Sadly, mine isn't back to normal either. Well, all we can do is be patient and grateful to staff when they finally can get it fixed.

Easy for the average user to do by themselves without step-by-step instructions? No.

If it were only a matter of changing the background-color settings for body.site.fluid and body.site over seven thousand lines down into one of the template.css files, it would have already been done. There are add-ons for some browsers that allow that, each one different.

Trying out changes to stylesheets which may not load in the order expected, and may affect parts of that (or some other) page that simply weren't obvious is slow, tedious, and rarely if ever improved by stopping to politely answer variations of "are we there yet?" and then trying to find one's mental place again.

tried both firefox and IE and both are white on my end?

Windows, 1920x1200, Chrome has the white background but Firefox shows correctly.
