Newest adventure of Penny Akk is now out. "Please don't tell my parents I have a nemesis"
It's the forth Akk if you don't count the fourth book which was a pre-equal some twenty years before the events in the main story line.

A fun read and I recommend the series wholeheartedly.
But the reason I'm posting this is this paragraph that jumped out at me. A cameo appearance of a character that appeared in an earlier book.
*It was Marvelous. Her hair had grown back past her shoulders since I'd eaten a chunk of it of in our duel. She had the look everyone expected from a heroine, and hardly anyone with super powers actually did have. Tall for a woman, naturally full-figured but firmly muscled, and sporting wavy brown hair. You could easily imagine that after putting out this fire she would hurry back to her classes at an exclusive private college for people with powers.*
Does Whateley have a fan?

Nah, while it would be awesome for one of the published superhero-sci-fi novelists to give us a shout out in their books, I don't think we're quite that much a household name, even in the industry. Someday, maybe.

Also, the idea of a school for powered individuals is not exactly
unique to Whateley.

True, but what about an Exemplar-esque description? ... Although a more convincing argument would need more information about Marvelous, to see if she's an Expy of anyone...

as near as I can gather she uses power artifacts, which was another reason I thought of Lady Astarte.

That's soo vague, that I'd not call that an Expy. You'd need a name that's sorta similar to Lady Astarte for me to say "Expy". Or at least a magic staff. Maybe call her "Sister Ishtar" or something...
Self-Note: Astarte is not related to Astral, so Sidereal Staff would not fit.
