  • BUSY, BUSY MONTH!

Going from constant night shifts to a routine that makes me have to deal with the sun on a daily basis was tough for the first two weeks, and I'm no longer napping during the day after not being able to sleep until 3am.
I have gotten back into the routine of writing regularly. But the first two things I wrote were for money only and involved damsels in distress, monsters and a lot of adult material. I feel dirty, but unfortunately it pays the bills. And no I am not giving anymore details on that stuff, just suffice it to say a lot of people are willing to part with their money for some VERY bizarre things

Now that I've got the routine going and I'm making some money (Fifty bucks after 1 week with one short story and a second one just went out, and the residual income has been increasing steadily), I can put time into non-paying projects, and ones that are more long term.

A Good Man has gone out to a trusted beta reader and will be back in my greedy little hands this week for final touch ups before being sent in for review.

And I have two independent stories that will be going out to their own websites as soon as I get the sites ready and polish them up.

So things are finally not looking like they're about to collapse on my head. I'm catching up on sleep, and I'm feeling better than I have in over a year.

Now have some Nightmare Fuel on the house.
Don't worry it's safe for work and Whateley related. I just can't seem to post it on the site. Anyone with the ability to and wants to, can post it in the gallery.

  • Mm... Commission work...

Well, good to hear your financial and other sitches are getting better! Initially I read that as you only earning $50 in one week.

So... Dollform Tink? Creepy surgery-ness making her into that form, presumably... And she's being sorta exhibited or something... The tears just make everything worse. ... With her powers, escaping a lot of things should be easy, so the possible answers to "Why hasn't she escaped" are looming over the pic too...

Looking at Tink Art is so confusing 'cause she's the only reference point for the size of things, and I ''know'' she's doll-sized, but she's a person, and human-shaped, so it makes me interpret things at normal human-height...

  • The picture is not foretelling a future plot line and at no time will she be turned into a human size doll. It was just an idea I had that wouldn't leave my brain.
I Thought I'd share it with the world.

    1. Night shifts can be rough, but as long as they're consistent you can get into the routine.

Transitioning from graveyard shift to day shift to swing shift, is a PITA, as you sleep patterns will never get the chance to stabilise.

Try using melatonin. If it's good for jet lag, then it'll work for shift changes.

    2. Congratz on the bread'n'butter gigs.

They may not be what you want to write, but you're getting paid, whilst honing your craft.

I played music in covers band all the way through Uni, and a few years after that.

They can be annoying, but they help pay the bills.

    3. Great that you've got a routine up'n'running.

It's essential for being able to create good work consistently.

As Flaubert said, “Be steady and well-ordered in your life so that you can be fierce and original in your work.”

As ever, looking forward to your next works... :D

I remember watching that years ago, and I've read stories with similar premises, scared the hell out of me when I was younger and still makes me shiver today.

    So news.
I got side tracked writing short stories for a book I want to have on Kindle in early/mid December tentatively called Children of the End. Basically short stories ranging from 9k to 30k, where teenagers and children are trying to survive after the collapse of civilization due to disease, not-zombies, war, etc. Lots of fun writing it, just waiting to hear back from beta readers, and needing to do some touch ups.

A Good Man part three will be handed in on Monday. I did manage to fit in time for that, despite having to make one large change with the ending, apparently I dragged some stuff out too long and it got boring.
And there are some other Whately things I've got in the process, I'm hoping will be liked and can see the light of day.
    Fun stuff.

When I was six or so, I got a Kid Vid Troll doll from a Burger King meal. There was an info card that came with it talking about some sort of contest where they would make a custom Troll doll out of the winners. Being little, I thought it meant they would actually transform the people into dolls. I was horrified. And to make matters worse... what if this one had been a person too? It creeped me the hell out, but I couldn't just throw it in the trash because it could be a person, and throwing people in the trash is wrong!

I figured out what the card had actually meant eventually, but it took longer than I care to admit.

I am the kernel that pops in the night. I am the pain that keeps your dentist employed.

I would have probably thought the same when I was that age. As I'm discovering with my daughter, children can take simple concepts and warp them into nightmare fuel or insanity with very little work.
