  • Just thought I'd let people know I'm not dead.
I had a big job come up which kept me extremely busy until March. And then I needed time to get my head on straight.
Now I'm catching up on the stories.
    More details later.

  • Oh SURE, that's what you say NOW!

But then your Undead Brethren start shambling all over the place, giving people 'tooth noogies', and then it's a whole different thing!

  • I present your daughter's new favourite book:

    www.goodreads.com/book/show/7171748-zombies-vs-unicorns

No, I'm not serious, some most of the stories in there are definitely not suitable for children. If I remember correctly there is a Zombie Unicorn in there somewhere.

  • My daughter told me just before bed a story idea.

A car with really dark windows is facing your window and you can see a person staring at you from the car. And in the reflection someone else is staring at you. And in the other windows someone is staring at you, and the mirror to. And in the thing that lets you see through the door, someone is watching you there.
    Now make it a story.

  • The guy in the car is clearly using a spell to hide his real face, which betrayed by the mirror to you and the man looking through the window at you and the mirror. How you react tells those two whether the you think the mirror is being true to you. But is it really?

    Sweet dreams!

From the sound of it??? Either H.P. Lovecraft or Stephen King. Possibly Shirley Jackson.

    She's 7.
She likes Slenderman from playing Roblox, and while she doesn't like ghosts she does like some monsters and weird things. But right now she is just telling me all kinds of ideas because we're writing comic books and a pirate story together. And no the comics aren't horror, they're more along the lines of Dark Wing Duck, which made me confused when she told me the horror story idea.

    Darkwing Duck rules.
But in Invasion City, unicorns are supreme. app.box.com/s/kpjrk7gx57ilrjy4o1gj5ns6ekr24b5n

  • I take it invasion city is the setting of the comic? Dark Wing is more competent by far but Gizmo is still my favorite.

  • Yep. Invasion City is a bunch of floating islands that moves around the world and according to my daughter looks like an invasion. Hence the name.

  • Welcome Back!

    ----

Invasion City is just filled with ominiousness, just from the name... But there's more than that...

It has supervillainy, and (Rapid?) Transport by virtue of being a flying city... It's a national security nightmare? ... Thinking that Rainbow Hero is the lone hero in the city, trying to shut it down, and save the world or something...

Also, Rainbow Hero presumably splitting into every color of the rainbow... And having that be the actual 6, instead of the inaccurate 7. Nice!

    ...

Wait... Is everyone in the City, a talking animal?? ... Getting Island Of Dr. Moreau vibes from that idea alone...

  • Glad to see you back and things going well for you, Domo. Try not to disappear on us like that again, even if you just pop in every couple weeks to tell us you are okay. :)

Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked. :-) Note: My story comments can't nor are trying to replace reading the stories, simply my way of enjoying them and letting the authors know I enjoy them.

Hmm... Moreau. One of my best audition monologues is a paraphrase of a bit from him:

Plants do not feel pain, nor the lower animals; it's possible that such animals as the starfish and crayfish do not feel pain at all. Then with men, the more intelligent they become, the more intelligently they will see after their own welfare, and the less they will need the goad to keep them out of danger. I never yet heard of a useless thing that was not ground out of existence by evolution sooner or later. Did you? And pain gets needless.

I am a religious man, as every sane man must be. I have seen more of the ways of this world's Maker than you,—for I have sought his laws, in my way, all my life, while you, I understand, have been collecting butterflies. And I tell you, pleasure and pain have nothing to do with heaven or hell. Pleasure and pain—bah! What is your theologian's ecstasy but Mahomet's houri in the dark? This store which men and women set on pleasure and pain, is the mark of the beast upon them,—the mark of the beast from which they came! Pain, pain and pleasure, they are for us only so long as we wriggle in the dust.

Fate guard you and grant you a Light to brighten your Way.

It has lots of heroes, and lots of villians. THey generally keep each other in check.
And yes it's all animals. The world below is also talking and non-talking animals, with some insects, and at least one fairy. There are also air pirates and magic, it's got everything plus the kitchen sink.

I was neck deep in trying to decipher a persons family history and making it readable for his grandchildren. By the end of the day I could barely see straight.
And people could have sent an email or a message, I would have gotten it.
