    • So, it's 8:35 here in Oz, and it's my birthday! Today, I'm 29. So, happy birthday to me! One step closer to 30. Although that's not really all that special, now that I think about it. I really don't feel all that older.

    It felt the same at 28, and at 27, and at 26, and I'm beginning to suspect it'll keep feeling the same until I realise that I've hit some ghastly age.

    • Oh, no, next year is the big one. It's the one when you suddenly stops being trustworthy, according to people who are now of retirement age (and therefore quit being trustworthy sometime around 1970 -- so why should you trust their opinion on this? Beats me.).
    Also, the one when your relatives, older friends, barely known acquaintances etc. start pestering you with "why aren't you married yet?" I'll offer you my stock answer: "Marriage should be the natural evolution of a good relationship, not a goal in itself. Treating it as a goal is the best way to a failed marriage.'
    Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.
