  • My Mom is in the hospital with a heart attack after spending most of December and January with breathing problems that made my own look like a day at the beach.
My ex is pushing to see our daughter in another city which will cost me and my parents money we don't have instead of coming to my hometown where I've TOLD her she can see our daughter for several more hours a day then she can with her own plan (no way in hell is that abusive woman seeing my daughter without someone watching her like a hawk), and is cheaper for everyone including her.
i haven't been able to get a paying job since October, partly because I wasn't able to breath and had 0 energy, and I'm stuck in a small ass town in the middle of nowhere so no one wants to hire me as a writer even though I don't actually have to see them to do any work.
My computer is a piece of shit.
And I'm about ready to scream and put my fist through a wall right now.
    HURRAY!

  • Dang...that does sound rough... :(

You already know I've been keeping you in my prayers, so I'll add your mom to the list for sure now, as well as the situation with your Ex. Wish I could do more than that...

  • Don't put fists through walls, please, as that can damage the delicate writing implement that is the hand. Use a foot instead. ;)

  • Sorry to hear about your troubles, I hope you Mom's recovery is smooth. As for the rest, how about I wish good luck to you. Hope that's enough.

Many people hear voices when no-one is there.
Some are called 'mad' and shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day.
Others are called 'writers' and they do pretty much the same thing.

  • Thanks for the offer, its really appreciated but I'm doing better now.
My Mom did not have a heart attack, they have no idea what it was so she's in a bigger hospital now but sounding a lot better.
And my lawyers are making me laugh by telling my wife to stop being so stubborn after I've bent over backwards to let her have access to our daughter in safe and convenient place. So she has to come to my town to see our daughter and if she doesn't want to she can go back to China.
So I'm in a much better mood. Just everything kind of hit me yesterday and I needed someplace to scream.

  • Good to hear that things don't look bad. I know about parents' health scares; I had to take care of my mom, including through some very scary TIAs, heart attack, and other things. it's stressful; make sure you take time to relax.

and glad your lawyers are doing their jobs.

and I'm still working that other thing. i know it's hard, but patience pays off.

    I don't think that's quite you meant.

I agree, on both points. However, hopefully, we're a pathetically sympathetic bunch, instead of a sympathetically pathetic bunch, hmm?

  • Glad to hear things turned around for you Dom, seriously if you ever need to rant and rage, smash your head against the cage, go ahead. I know how things can fester if internalized for to long.

  • Btw... my first reaction to your thread/subject was to point you at the movie "The Crow" ... specifically the song "It Can't Rain All the Time"

    Scene with line reference

    Song itself

This is one of my personal go-to songs when I need some inspiration... and for a long while, the Crow was what I watched when I needed to break a block of get myself out of a rut. It's only made that much more inspiring if you know the story of and have read/scene the graphic novel it's based on.

  • To second Kristin, The Crow is one of those rare films for me that had it all, dark, light, hope, despair, humor, sadness, action and drama. It is a little of everything to everyone.

BTW thanks Kristin for bringing up the movie, just what I needed to give myself slap upside the head and shake few thing loose.

Oh here is my link to some music from the Crow by Erock

  • The Crow was awesome. And I know some of the backstory to it, which makes it one of the more unique revenge stories out there. i think I'll try to find a copy of it today. Lost my old copy a long time go.

  • I had a mixed tape back int he 90's of loud and ragey music. A surprising number of songs from The Crow made it onto it. Driving down the highway with it blaring was nice.

And good news, my ex is going to China without visiting. She blames it on the road conditions, but she just doesn't want to come to my hometown for some reason even though it's not that hard to get to and only adds 4 hours by bus to the trip.
My daughter is a bit disappointed, but that's mainly because she was hoping to get presents.
I really hope she stays there.

A part of me I sad for your daughter, but if your ex is the kind of person who would let "road conditions" keep them from their child... perhaps it is for the best...

    Glad everything worked out okay...

  • Don't be, she wasn't abusive to our daughter, but wanted almost nothing to do with her. Her nickname for her was 'the burden'.
She was a and is a selfish person who is better off far away from us.

  • True. And it was one reason I was looking for a way out as soon as we were back in Canada.
She could never figure out why it was the one time I would react angrily (telling her not to do it again) when I put up with so much of her other shit directed at me.
