Question Lost and Found: Looking for stories

    • I thought this would be a good topic category.

    And to start it off: I am trying to find a story (fan fic?) about a finder. His talent let him find just about anything he chose, from the broadly general (valuables, somewhere safe, etc) to the specific (so and so's will). He spends much of his time living in a small bunker of sorts, away from his sometimes-abusive mother, and has accumulated a respectable fortune in gold, jewels, and cash over time. He finds a Whateley application in the remains of a burned out house (destroyed in an H1 attack), and arranges to submit it. While waiting to get into the school, he gets involved with a reasonably honest and honorable lawyer, and starts the process of becoming emancipated. He also does some work for the lawyer as an investigator of sorts.

    Does anyone recognize that story, and even better does anyone have a copy they can send me?
