  • On Friday a friend sent me an email about a long term, full time writing job, in Nova Scotia Canada, half a continent away from me.
It's not great, but it's steady pay, gets me and my daughter out if my parents place (me first, I'll have to get settled before she comes so about a month or so living alone) and I'd still have lots of time to write other things. Sent him my updated resume today, and he'll hand it in personally to HR tomorrow.
So yeah, if people could cross their fingers for me, I'd appreciate it. This Beats the hell out of the crappy one time writing assignments I've been doing.

  • Good luck, Domo. Hope everything works out how you hope it does.

Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked. :-) Note: My story comments can't nor are trying to replace reading the stories, simply my way of enjoying them and letting the authors know I enjoy them.

  • Thank you both.
Nova Scotia is beautiful, not quite enough thick forests, but the ocean will be interesting. And it's a small town, so I'll like that part. Only problem is the town of 6500 people has the highest teen pregnancy rate in Canada. So I'll have to make sure my daughter and I are gone shortly after she hits puberty, or that she's a lesbian. ;) Either is good with me.

  • Well good is they sent me an email asking me to call them yesterday. Eight calls, two messages yesterday, one call and one message this morning and no answer.

Nagrij I may take you up on the seal team offer, but these are maritimers they club and eat seals for breakfast.

  • Well in that case, Domo, seal team 6 won't work.

That's quite possible. My dad had to redo a job interview a few months ago because the person who interviewed him had a heart attack.

  • That would suck.
My friend is looking into whats going on from his end, which isn't actually anywhere near the place I'd be working so hopefully by the end of this week things will be worked out.

  • It's not necessarily even something fatal. I had a case where the person who interviewed me quit and my paperwork got lost in the shuffle. On a side note, there was a funny tale on The Daily WTF about an interviewee who actually convinced his interviewer to quit. Basically, he recognized that the guy who was interviewing him was highly dissatisfied and pointed out as much. The next day, he got a nice email from the interviewer saying that he was right, and he'd quit."
