  • To any of you guys reading this who are praying types, I could really use some extras right now. I don't want to go into details, but my thoughts are not in a very good place at the moment...

  • Not a very religious type but whatever I have is yours.

    Peace and Healing.

Many people hear voices when no-one is there.
Some are called 'mad' and shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day.
Others are called 'writers' and they do pretty much the same thing.

  • By the power of corniness vested in me, I beseech thy thoughts to lighten and fill with the airiness of a popped kernel wafting on the breeze. Salty sweet shall be the flavor and the flavor shall be salty sweet. The only drizzle shall be that of buttery goodness descending from the heavens. Yea though ye walk through the valley of broken shells, ye shall fear no kernel, for the floss and the brush are thine, and the paste awaits. In nomine Sal et Saccharum et Spiritus Frumentum. Amen.

I am the kernel that pops in the night. I am the pain that keeps your dentist employed.

  • New prayer request. Just found out my mom is in the hospital after going to the ER with stroke-like symptoms. My brother is with her right now, and they're going through a bunch of tests, but I don't know any details yet.

  • Damn, sorry to hear that Neo.
    Hope its nothing serious.

I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.

  • Update: Finished with all the tests, including an MRI which revealed that yes, my mom DID have a mild stroke caused by high blood pressure which resulted in a loss of feeling in her right arm (this being what prompted the trip to the ER in the first place). They're changing her BP meds and she's going to have to go through some physical therapy for her arm, but beyond that it doesn't look like any other lasting damage was done. So not great results but definitely could have been worse.

Thank you to everyone who expressed their concern and best wishes. It was/is greatly appreciated.

  • glad to hear!

    now the hard part

get the walking up --the weight down if its an issue? and lessen the worry aka stress

could never get that 'worry' part done for my mom , as my job is just so darn dangerous at times.

  • you lighting people do some pretty insane stuff on top of ladders. our house ME uses 16 ft ladders to reach our fixed grid... the ladder is mounted and bolted to a wooden structure on large rotating casters. He sits atop that ladder and drags himself (and it) around the deck by pulling on the grid around him as he goes from instrument to instrument for focusing or dealing with gel. I take those wheels off when I have to hang a speaker... just... not...happening. :)

Of course, 16 ft is nothing compared to some of the arena hangs he does on union calls... so I guess its all relative.

Fate guard you and grant you a Light to brighten your Way.

    I hate heights myself
    but its work!
try being in the basket of a 150 ft boom, with lamps hung off that!

or nowadays I have to hook-up 3000 amp generators HOT in the rain! and some of them still have bus bars!

bus bars for the laymen.... big copper bars that have the current tuning through them at all times. Then you take what is basically, a large bass/copper clamp and clamp on those HOT underload. At all times your only about--say 1/2 to a full inch from DEAD!

Fun! then add rain and your standing in mud!

oh and 100 amps==== is your house with each light on, the AC, the fridge, the heater, and all the electronics...maybe?

  • but anyway..... hug your mom close --as you will miss her---so do it now and keep on her on any health issues

as with my mom. I found out at her age, girls where not taught how to take care of injuries, like guys were in PE class.
So she did not understand, what I was saying to her, about exercising the pain away and that would make it go away?
