Portals to AUs

In my Summoning Knowledge fanfic, I got the TLW to get a summoning portal into the Dresden-verse, and while I could work with that...
I came up with: "What if it's a portal into a perfectly parallel universe instead?"
And then if I had Gateway save that into her portal selection, she has the ultimate physical defense, sending an enemy's attack right back at them by firing back the parallel universe's version.
Only weaknesses are indirect attacks and attacks that if blocked that way, have bad sideeffects like Too Much Explosion...
... Oh! That's how to use this! It's got enough imperfections in its defense to not be truly abolute! ... It's basically a invincible PK shield, ... that can be cut off if magic's out... Okay! I've got enough weaknesses to work!
Hmm... Yeah, gonna post this. Wrote it up anyway.

And then there's the myriad of other universes that could be tapped into, like Never Was This Universe, Or Like Reality Unless Noted, for things where they go parallel until hitting alterate events, that somehow don't butterfly into revealing themselves until then, like Domoviye's Tink, or Cryptic's Odinson, IIRC, not to mention more common fanfic ideas, like Rule 63, likely isolated on a single/few characters, like Fey or Chaka. Leaving Ayla alone, 'cause justifying him to Rule 63 means dealing with all the Nimbus stuff that we don't know about...
I haven't talked about this before... Right??
And then there's the more obvious AUs, like if somehow some of the TLW went Rule 63, and managed to get themselves to do the portal... All three going Rule 63 is a lot easier, 'cause then you don't have to figure out all the "Guy in predominantly girl group or vice versa dynamics."
And then there's what happens if the warchers are Rule 63'd ... Solange, Gateway, etc.
