This is the next installment in my infrequent series of writing prompts.
Welcome to Parkerville. Where is Parkerville? In this case, not in Kansas. It might help to first know what Parkerville is first. Parkerville is an amusement park that caters to mutants looking to get away from it all and have a good time. Located south of Macomb, Illinois, it is about 2 hours from St. Louis, MO, 4 hours from Chicago, IL and a short hour and a half from Burlington, IA.
Who's there? You are, or perhaps more accurately, your OC is. When writing about the trip to Parkerville, here are a few things to consider:

- How did you find out about Parkerville? Unlike the GoodFun Amusement park chain, Parkerville doesn't advertise it's existence in the mainstream media.
- How did you get there? Did you fly into one of the distant cities, take a train to Macomb, or did you drive all the way?
- How do the activities differ from those at a mainstream amusement park? What activities would you find at Parkerville that you wouldn't find at a mainstream park?
- How does the park keep track of the power sets of it's visitors? The power sets of the visitors need to be taken into account when deciding whom is allowed to do what.

I guess the story of who sets it up is up to us as well... I could use this if I fleshed that out enough... And how it avoids detection.
... Non-American, so: "How isolated and unnoticable is that given location?"
This could have been better timed... To get more advertising for a thread, stick it in your sig?

Well, I have never been there, but... it's fairly rural. OTOH, it's not as sparsely populated as, say, Montana. I grew up in a region somewhat similar to that -- rural but fairly well developed. I would say that if you build, oh, a couple kilometers off the highways, only the locals (and anybody fiddling with Google Earth) would know that there was anything there. But the locals WOULD know. If the people who built the thing did their political homework regarding "it will bring jobs and money to the community", and follow up on it (paying fair wages, donating to local charities and such)... well, small town people tend to be awfully protective of the company that employs half of everybody they know.
Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

I will echo Sir Lee's comments on the area. When picking the site, I was looking for a slice of mid-american farm country that was close to major transit hubs, but not too close. For those curious,
Google Maps
provides a few nuggets of information about Macomb. While I haven't been through the city proper, I traveled through the general area a few years back on a cross-country road trip, and I have relatives who live within a couple hours of the city.
