Question Lost/Offsite Fanfiction
- Atlan

Topic Author
I love Whateley fanfiction. I've been reading it for years, and while a lot of it is easily forgettable (and even more I wish I could forget) there are some real gems out there.
Unfortunately, many of those gems are MIA. Between the recent Forum crash, and the last Forum crash, a lot of those fanfics have disappeared.
So, this thread is for those gems. If you've got a link to an off-site Whateley fanfic you like, post it! If you're looking for a fanfic that's disappeared, post a request. And if you've got a link to a mentioned fic, share it.
To start:
Tansy Running High, by Drakensis.
www.fanfiction.net/s/8722425/1/Tansy-Running-High
An AU, where things go slightly differently for Tansy, and events snowball for her.
Division by Zero, by Drakensis, a Famaliar of Zero crossover
www.fanfiction.net/s/6623137/1/Division-by-Zero
A crossover, where an OC is summoned to the FOZ world.
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Waterdeep, by Drakensis, a Forgotten Realms crossover
forums.spacebattles.com/threads/a-funny-...to-waterdeep.309192/
A crossover, where a number of OCs find their way to the Whateley world.
Daniel Archwood, books 1 & 2, by Glimmervoid
docs.google.com/document/d/1psAMCZKwsadS...dFtSfU83DnWOCkg/edit
Daniel Archwood is a mage at Whateley, who manages to substitute math skills for raw power. Right up until something goes wrong...
A Boy and His Dog, by Landing
bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book/40394/boy-and-his-dog
Jan's Tale, by Beyogi
bigclosetr.us/topshelf/beyogi
MIA:
Catnip, by Grey Bean.
Easily my all-time favourite whateley fic, about a mutant who was kidnapped, and reshaped to be a living Catwoman copyright violation.
Many stories by Lynceus
Lynceus wrote a LOT of stories, but never backed them up, and they were all lost in the first massive forum crash.
Uncanny Valley Girl, by Thrithlind
EDIT: Thanks Dawnfyre

Rodford Edmiston has a crossover fanfic between his own "Masks" universe and Whateley, called "Rite of Passage." He had only posted it on the Whateley forums, so it was MIA for a while. It's now up on his site . Yes, the link is correct; it's just that the page has the wrong heading.
- mittfh

Drunkfu's Abyss art plus RP character yearbooks are still available at his DeviantArt account.
MIA:
Babel (story) - got lost in an earlier forum crash.
Insane Hiker's stories - he's registered here, but hasn't posted anything yet.

It's very well written, and even though I personally think the protagonist is a bit overpowered (or at least has the potential to be) the narrative gives solid reasoning for this and handles the implications of it nicely. I'd say it's an excellent piece of fanfiction, enough that I'd recommend it for for official fanfiction publication here on this site.

Though ideally, someone will start a thread with a list of them, and any time someone posts additions, they add it to the list. Then we can sticky the list and delete any post added to it after the links have been copied into the main list....

If that isn't around, though, those little bits (some were pretty good, as I recall) are lost forever.
Try the Microscene Discussion Thread in my 40MB archive? Or do you want me to cut it down to just that? In that case, give me a few minutes and it'll happen.

Cool. Just send Page 1, but make sure it's Page 1, please? I have the others from when you sent them to me after I asked you on the Old Forums, but that Page 1 was actually just the first post of Page 2...

11 pages of entries tagged Whateley Academy, including the first canon stories.
some, like Pink Why Pink* are only posted there.
* Andrea Ribeiro thinks because it is decidedly non canon she can't post it here. I told her she should.

Malady wrote: On the topic of Bigcloset, how does the site determine the order that things appear, from the top to the bottom and so on?
As far as I can see the stories are listed top to bottom in reverse chronological order, that is newest posts first, on the home page. This seems to hold true on the authors pages as well.
Re:- your Fan-Fic question, I've just checked every copy of 'The Only Constant' that I have and they all come out with page 1 being only the first post of page 2. The only conclusions that I can come to are that either Page 1 only ever contained the one post or that page 2 represents the whole story and I must have labelled it incorrectly when I saved it. Sorry.

I think your best bet is to find a part of the story you are looking for and you the links at the bottom to find the first part. This works best for authors with multiple stories being posted at once.

My real headache is combining three or four sets of Micro-Scenes collections where the pages overlap due to the various crashes that the Crystal Hall site suffered before being abandoned. If I can get it all straight I'll post a spreadsheet of all the stories in my archive, as I did at the old site, for anyone who wants copies as it is too much to expect Kristen or Warren to go to the trouble of trying to recreate the Fan-Fiction section from the old site. They have quite enough to do just recovering the Canon stories.

You mean Pre-2010 Crash Micro Scenes, right? 'Cause I put my archive of Post-2010 Crash Micro Scenes here somewhere...
Well, I put a link to my dump of Old Forum here: whateleyacademy.net/index.php/forum/the-...iction?start=20#1372
... Which you might have seen already... I/We really should have a Mod Sticky for one of these Fanfic Threads...
Also, I wouldn't mind messy overlapping Micro Scenes. my memory isn't so bad that I'd forget what I read and if I did, then I have reason to read it again...

I'm pretty sure there is a degree of overlap between the pre-2011 files and the most recent set but the problem area is the middle bit where I think I've got versions of pages where new posts had been put in before the site back-ups reverted to earlier versions. Once I've got things as clean as I can then I'll post a definitive list which will have the least amount of duplication while keeping all the stories.
All fun stuff!

I have finally got my Fan-Fic archive sorted out and listed on a spreadsheet. The stories covered range from August 2008 through to October 2015 when the Crystal Hall site died. While most of the stories are complete there are one or two that are missing pages that I have been unable to recover. All the files are stored in .mht format which should open in most internet browsers.
If you would like copies please send me a PM and I'll send you a copy of the excel spreadsheet to browse through. Unfortunately the file seems to be too large to attach here.

I'd like copies!
I'll send you my email, if you don't have it, tomorrow. As I'm on mobile...
How about asking for this thread to be stickied? If it isn't already...
Post the names of the stories with missing pages, so that we, other forumites, might help?

Well, the file has a few typos, like an incorrect spelling of Absinthe, yours are missing their 'e'.
Insane Hiker's on here too, so you could ask him about Faolan 4...: whateleyacademy.net/index.php/forum/proj...409-faolon-discusion

I had messaged Landing and gotten a reply on the old site... IIRC he'd wanted to get back to writing more but life wasn't giving him the time/opportunity to do so currently.
I got a similar response from Caliban who wrote Falling to Pieces, What the Hek and The Galena Incident.

Has anybody heard if Grey Bean's going to be continuing Catnip? I recall a fairly recent update to the story before the old site went kablooey. I see that he'd logged on here a few weeks after this site went live but hasn't been back since.
I need to go back through the Fan Fiction I've got and give some shout-outs regarding some of the stuff it would be nice seeing continued or at least shared on this site. Maybe some stuff like Go Boldly and Coyote.
I know Insane Hiker's been updating Faolan on here about once a week and has been writing new stuff for it that's been popping up on DeviantArt since he's not reached that current point, on here yet, to add it in. (a new one went up on there just last week)

I will re-post Go Boldly eventually. Right now my priority as far as Whateley goes is finishing part 2 of Fred, which is maybe 80% done. Once that's ready I'll post parts 1 and 2 together. After that I'll start working on minor revisions to Go Boldly with the intent of posting it officially as Fan Fiction rather than in the forum. So it will probably be a few months until Fred, and then a few more until Go Boldly.
