I am a caffeine heathen; I prefer the waters of the mountain over the juice of the bean. Keep the Dews coming and no one will be hurt.

I'm having a hard time writing two spirits that are trapped in a mirror. The way I see it is the mirror was awakened to trap/guard the other spirit a good time ago. Not sure is spirit b is still actively trying to get free or if maybe two have become one or if there is a truce on...
Just kind of need to bounce ideas.

If the Mirror Spirit is stronger than the trapped spirit, which is unlikely, the mirror might just be isolating some part of the Astral, that keeps the spirit from escaping...
Like a Fools Circle, or whatever holds Sara, made of metal and glass?
Gotta be a round mirror, then?
If there's low spiritual energy inside, then the purpose might be to starve the contained spirit into passivity, or something? But starving, means that the energy from the contained spirit has to leave, which it's not...
----
Not sure why a mirror that has a spirit would be used to hold another spirit...
But the mirror, which was originally spirit-less, might somehow create its own spirit over time... Perhaps made from the energy lost from the contained entity... But would it be smart enough or whatever, to take on the idea of "mirror", instead of being eaten by the contained one?
Then again, nothing is saying that the contained one ''can'' eat their own discarded energy...

Well, as for most things in writing, the big questions is 'Do you WANT there to be two spirits in the mirror?"
As for reasons WHY there are two spirits in the mirror, two possibilities occur to me:
First, one is necessary to keep the other one bound there. They're Yin and Yang, two opposites that balance and neutralize each other, allowing the prisoner to be kept
Second, in truth, there's actually only ONE spirit bound into the mirror; the 'two' are merely two separate aspects of the whole, possibly its 'bright' and 'dark' sides

The trapped spirit can appear in the mirror in place of a reflection, but can't see the outside world very well. The mirror spirit can see the outside world just fine, but can't manipulate the reflections it shows. Mirror Spirit wants to behave like a normal mirror, so it informs the trapped spirit about what scenes it should be portraying. Prisoner Spirit is making an effort, but it tends to take creative liberties. This strains their relationship.

Hmm... Mirror starts as Hallow for Mirror Spirit, is expanded, so it can hold Prisoner, who has to keep Mirror Spirit alive, so it can eat, as it can't eat what Mirror Spirit eats, but can eat Mirror Spirit chunks?

Start with the spirit mirror reflecting people as they are (Picture of Dorian Gray style).
The magic of the mirror makes the new inhabitant (some magicians tinker with things they oughtn't more than some devisors) show up in the mirror as the pictured person instead. It may not be as stressful to reflect the venial sins of the ruck and run of humanity, but the angelic and demonic ends of the spectrum are another matter altogether. Worse, the spirit mirror likes reflecting some sins or virtues that its prisoner doesn't.

And I hadn't considered the spit personality/bi-polar spirit angel.

I was thinking they play shoulder angels once in their host as my Why, but I like your spin.Bek D Corbin wrote: Well, as for most things in writing, the big questions is 'Do you WANT there to be two spirits in the mirror?"

The two spirit idea came from the Yokia this idea is based on: A mystic could trap a spirit in a prepared mirror. I need to refind the page link...
