  • I'm having a kid with a Warping X effect which connects him to his alternate self in another reality. NO there will be no cross dimention antics, just a sharing of memories. I want the Alternate Whateley to feel just a touch off, but not to the extent Star Trek took their Mirror universe.

The big one is Vanishing Day never happened so Carson might still be in charge, or Hartford is Headmistress and Carson is her number 2... -rubs chin in thought-

  • of course, the problem is, is it a provable warping effect, or simply a delusion cause by the kid's power?

  • Honestly, I'm not sure he's gonna revel it to anyone, and likely thinks the memories are just dreams.

  • They could be implanted false memories, or maybe they're the long-term target of gaslighting for some reason?

  • I have to ask that if you're intent on not having any cross-dimensional antics what do you gain by setting up the character as a warper viewing an actual alternate reality?

Would your story change if they were a 'broken' precog instead, viewing/experiencing a consistent alternate present rather than a hypothetical future?

I can't speak for Cryptic, but it could be a good setup for "stranger in a strange land" culture shock, derealization (a dissociation symptom), or "wrong genre savvy" elements to a story.

  • I was mainly working on a Yin/Yang-Opposite but the same set up. Sistr is a teleporting Warper, on the higher end, he's primarily a high end Avatar with querks. So my thought process was "Wat's a downgrade from moving through a warp in space time? Seeing it but-unable to interact. Cross dimensional clairvoyance. And slap Sister dear with an added Av 1 rating to make things balance. And find a spirit that's 'useless' to her"

As for no high junks.... well I might, I just haddent thought of any yet.

  • I think I'm just going to gender flip, though the Bears are giving me grief adapting Mr. Nally getting Kodiac and Ms Cody Grizz. Kayda starts female, gets the same spirit and remains female. It's Totem that ends up ftm.

Yes, Pat, I'd like to buy a vowel. An 'E'. Yes, there is one E! I'll solve, it's NallEy. *music fanfare* ;) Interesting take, I'll look forward to seeing it.

  • Here's an idea for the alt-Whateley verse: instead of just genderflipping the characters, change the characters who did genderflip. Meaning, if a canon character suffered a gender change in canon, in the alt-W they didn't (either because they were born that gender, or because they stayed the gender they were born). Like, Ayla could have been born a girl, and Tony had stayed a boy... but other major characters, such as Kodiak, did go through it -- with Wylma Cody having been born Wyatt, and Jericho being originally called Josephine before manifesting.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

  • I was mulling the fates of a few of the changelings: I haven't decided if Nikki for example's spirit is male andshe ends up the group's Hank or if Aung's alt queen is who she picks up, and so Nikki ends up going down the scary path after ending up in Melville.

Oi, just realized how far I need to bend things: are the names of the buildings the same just g-flipped, or do I pull new names?

English surnames (e.g. Melville, Poe) aren't gendered, so those should be fine. The only building that might need changes might be the Jennifer Stevens Playhouse.

  • "Nope, not piking up any reading associated with Warping or clairvoyance. Must be in your head."

Nope, the Warper is the G-flipped reality Jessie who's powers some how caused her to becaoe entangled with the Prime Jessie.

I can feel the headaches already.
