Question Not really new, but long time gafiated

Hi!

Back at the old Crystal Hall I was kd7mvs. At the wiki, JohnBobMead.

I'd become inactive around the time Silver Linings Chapter 2 Chapter 4 and Whilst Any Speaks 3 were released; at least, those were the most recent stories in my files, and everything indicates that I was up to date at the time.

Not really sure why, I just stopped checking the site one day and the next thing I knew it had been years.

I did, vaguely, maintain an awareness of what was going on; I knew that there was a new site, and updated my bookmarks accordingly. Was aware of the Gen2 concept, and that Morpheus and ElrodW had finally checked out the Whateley stories and started writing their own, and been inducted into the Canon Cabal (There is no Canon Cabal!). I'd read Whisper when Sleethr first released it at BCTS, and will admit to being very pleased when I heard word that he had been inducted into the Canon Cabal; I'd thought that Whisper was right up there with the best.

Finally, for some reason, I decided to read Glyph 3, which Morpheus was posting at BCTS. Which led me to needing to read what had come before that. Which led to...

I've now read all the Gen2 stories, and the majority of the new Gen1 stories.

I've started editing wiki entries again. Sir Lee has noticed that. Having to remind myself how to format things; thankfully I still have my old file of notes. And learning how things have been reorganized as a result of the Gen1/Gen2 structures. I must admit to being shocked that I'm the last person to have edited the wiki's Table of Content's page, way back when. There's a significant backlog of story entries that has built up in my absence...

Anyway, thought I'd let people know I was back.

Yeah, welcome back. And I DID notice the Wiki edits... in fact, I was this close to reverting an edit (the Alcolyte -> Acolyte fix) when I thought, "no, he's too experienced an editor to commit such a basic error." So I double-checked... and it turned out that my copy of the story was wrong (apparently a typo which had been fixed in the canon story, but my copy retained the typo).

The first time I came onto this site via recommendation from a peer WAAAY back in 2013, I read the first paragraph of 'Mom, I don't feel so good' and immediately shut down my browser and purged my history. Honestly, I thought it was porn. Of course, I was younger and more of a fool, but It's been a while now, I've left high school and oh god I shouldn't be doing this, I've gone way off track. I think it's the pain meds cause I recently dislocated my shoulder, and have been in hospital for the past two weeks thinking up a new WhatIf character

I have to admit, I hadn't checked to see which story it was from. I was going through the list of red links, and saw that there were three links to Alcolyte, and three links to Acolyte, and said to myself, I said, "Gosh, that has to be the same person!", and went with the normal spelling without further investigation beyond looking at the pages the links originated from to confirm that it really was the same individual.

The Pehlee/Pehelee set of conflicting links, I did go check the story to see which one should be altered; that one was embarassing, as the in error spellings were one's I'd added myself.

It was probably pretty obvious I was just going down the list of links which didn't actually go anywhere yet, seeking variants of established links, variants of links where the page really hadn't been created yet but different editors had formated the provisional links differently, and seeking links that were just too imprecise (mundane single name element only links without anything to identify which potential person with that single name element it refered to; I prefer to distinguish them prior to a second individual with the same single name element only showing up, it prevents having to go back later and differentiate after the fact.)

I did notice that the Master Character list basically hasn't been updated since I dropped out. That's going to be quite the project to bring up to date!

And while the list of published stories has been subdivided into school years, it's been quite some time since anything was added to the list organized by posting date, and from there into the distinct school year tables; I did add one to that, but decided that I'd want to become a bit more familier with how the wiki is structured again before adding more, as well as needing to familiarize myself with all the stories posted since I gafiated.

Like, there may not be a bunch more DeWinter Residence stories coming down the pipe, in which case the story grouping code needs to be something that identifies that story and others like it as being the ones with the heading at the top of the story of "Exploring the Whateley Academy Universe", which generally means it's not part of any character/group continuity, but happens off-campus.
