Question Hello

Hello,
Call me Echo. I'm a now-former lurker who has been reading the stories here and on the old site for a while now. It's all been an interesting read and now I've found the courage (no, not the liquid kind) to sign up. I am dutch and speak english and german (badly) as second primary and secondary languages respectively. It has been interesting to occasionally read the babelfish (mis)translations of some english phrases. My job involves information extraction and herding computers.

Sometimes I've amused myself by mentally extrapolating some of the situations shown and how they might develop but don't ask me to write anything down. Being a fly on the wall at Ayla's next meeting with social services, for instance, should be interesting ('I asked that you have someone with a background in corporate governance, high finance and the SEC review all this information to save us all a lot of time and aggravation'). Alternately, Regnad probably needs to have his business model critiqued (There are probably far more profitable ways for Regnad to spend his time than to go up to individual comsats). In terms of Gen 2, the Goodkind corporate succession ought to be good for background events.

I'm waiting to see how Gen 1 and Gen 2 continue. Maybe we'll even see people talking about things like 'We were just cleaning up some really old junk when things turned all freaky and wierd. Then suddenly everybody started screaming...' to the shrinks.

Hello and welcome. Don't worry; can't speak for gen 1, but gen 2 at least, will be pretty crazy.

Then again, knowing gen 1... it'll probably be crazy too.
