Question Long term planning (or GRR Martin is a piker)

Sir Lee wrote: My question is: for how long has Morpheus been planning this? I mean, Imp has been collecting enemies since her first story.
Sir Lee brought this is up in the Imp 6 thread, and while I can't answer the question, we do have some evidence of Morpheus' long term planning.
Back in 2014 Morpheus dipped his foot into Whateley fanfiction with Round and Round. In parts of that story we got, what seemed like some throw away comments from characters. Hexfire acknowledges paying off a debt, Ginormous is missing from the Liberty League, replaced by Twist. A year later in Mission Imp-probable we meet Hexfire, Pinball, and the others, and learn why Hexfire owes Imp. Then another year later in A Glow in the Darkness we find out why Ginormous isn't in the Liberty League.
But there's more...
JG has been long term planning too. Way back in 2009 Diane wrote and described a piece of snake jewelry that Diamondback was wearing, and Jericho's shield, along with the Outcasts being so beat up. And then we get The Book of Darwin which explains all that. (OK JG probably didn't expect it to take 8 years to write that) I'll have to check, but it is entirely possible that JG killed off Phobos before she was introduced. In 2007 JG wrote the three stories about the Outcasts looking back at 2006/7 school year where she mentioned as being missed. The first Gen 1 Year 2 story was written in 2007.
I don't recall any other obvious stuff that has been "preplanned," but most of the stories are in chronological order. So something in story A isn't likely to be revealed in story B that took place earlier in the timeline. I'm sure stuff is planned out, just that the sneaky reveals aren't hidden in there.

A lot of stuff has changed as circumstances have changed and creators have come and gone. But there's a lot of stuff that remains the same from those original plotting sessions before anybody other than the creators had even seen the first stories.

But hey, there might be other ways to be surprising that I haven't thought about... Details... are important... 'Cause he could be trying to reverse the Sundering?

Briefly drifting off topic, that reveal pretty much encapsulates what makes the comic amazing. They managed to pull off a twist that stays true to the original twist, while still being new and shocking, and had meaningful and significant plot/character implications. In other words, they put in a twist in place where everyone was expecting a twist, made it reminiscent of the twist that everyone was expecting, and still managed to blow everyone away.E. E. I eagerly await the day that we get to see the plans that you all have been concocting fully laid bare. Not that we seem to be suffering from a shortage of plot twists in the meantime.
I'm still in shock over how we could have figured out the most recent big reveal if we'd just thought to search on the character in the Wiki. The answer was sitting there in plain sight for like two years, and you still caught us all flat footed.

I believe Arcanist is talking about The Sorrows of Red October...

I'd say that it's an example of Planning, but not... "the answer was sitting there in plain sight" 'cause there was still information that we were never privy to?
Like Hekate's Master's identity among the School Populace... would be the same sorta thing... ... Unless it isn't and his identity has actually been named, and we don't know that it's him?? ... Soo confused...

We didn't even bother to put the connections together until the authors started hinting quite overtly that Kayda caught sight of Jennifer Kelly in New York and recognized her. It was only then we started looking up who Jennifer Kelly was.
And many of us thought she was Tansy, when there were a few hints covered with misdirection that things still didn't quite add up for it being Tansy. But it was heavily hinted to be Tansy, and the twist should have been we thought Tansy was dead when it turned out to be Lanie. We not only screwed up the details, but never even noticed the clues.
We should have been asking extremely pointed questions a lot earlier.
I can only imagine the incessant chortling from the Gen 2 crew when we were all like, "OMG! It's so-and-so!" and they all knew the earlier hints completely went over our heads.

JK's only been mentioned in 3 Gen2 Stories: 1 , 2 , 3
... And then there's this post
Dreamer wrote: One thing I note in my long comments is that Jennifer Kelly is the civilian name of the Wicked identity which Mrs. Carson gave to Lanie in Whilst Any Speaks. So it seems she has either gone criminal and is working for the Syndicate, is solo, or is just a neutral individual who does morally gray jobs..
... And Elrod(W)'s responses to it. He was very good at heading off speculation!

Also, kudos to Elrod for a brilliant dodge there.
