And, a nitpick... Phoenix, it's "Alicia", not "Alica."

Below is a stream of conscious commentary I type up as I read the story. There will details from the story included in it. If you have not read the story yet and don't wish to have details of it spoiled, read no further.
Tales of Summer comments
Man on the run abducting an innocent little girl named Mary and Anna nearby, that guy is in for a bad day. Whoa, great moves by Anna to free the little girl so she could run to her move. Disarmed of a knife and turned into an arm lock, all that training is definitely paying off for Anna. Crowd cheering her on as the police arrive, but has to go in for questioning and got her friend Ree noticed, no good deed, heh.
Aww, Anna in tears and upset, thinking she is in trouble for getting Ree noticed as she is staying with them. Afraid of how Delarose will react to her heroing again, anyone with the training who saw that incident would have stepped in to help. Santa's Elf disguise for heroing over Christmas break and there was even a pot at the police office over who it was. Detective David Carter, poor Anna rattling off every time she has been heroing, including Phase's birthday party.
And so concerned about Ree's friends finding out she is a mutant, Anna is so sweet. Detailing everything on her MID, always easy to forget she is rated an Avatar-1, yet with all that training best to never underestimate. Nice to see understanding officials like this police officer.
A perp with a record that long, yet will get off easy with a plea bargain, *sigh* Nice warning about the Mayor making a speech on the front steps, walking into that would have sent Anna into panic mode. Ree's older sister, Meg, easily takes the clue from her dad about the donut shop, poor Anna still crying, the girl needs a morale boost. Whoa, uniformed cops applauding Anna, nice. Anna is so adorable to see with her friends.
In the Mood by E.E. Nalley
With Mrs. Carson back at Whateley, listening to Glenn Miller and his Orchestra on her iPod, on the shores of the South Ponds. Fishing, but not expecting to catch anything and in casual clothes that any of her students would take a picture of her in, either to admire or thinking it could be used as blackmail. Shelly with her father for the summer, Carson thinking of Owen Carson with a mixture of regret and embarrassment, interesting. Drinking a Coca-Cola while thinking Owen is one her greatest failures in life, ouch.
Okay, jealousy of Liz, saying she was only after his money, Owen was nuts to drive her away. 'Lost' Shelly which leads to the divorce finally happening, thinking she should dress and act like an old maid, oh brother. Dressing and acting like that, never saw Langley coming, showing off legs like she has would draw in a lot of guys, she got lucky with a good one. Bwahaha, mentally calling herself an old tease for showing off her legs in those skirts and heels to draw Langley's attention, if any of her students knew. Calling up Langley and answering him like that, she is definitely a woman with fire in her.
An Imp-pressive Distraction by Morpheus
Sunday, July 8th, 2007. Ryan Chambers out as Superhawk, looking for something. Nearly twenty minutes of nothing and he heads out on patrol hoping to spot something. Spotting a woman with horns on top of a nearby rooftop, he thinks it is Imp and he owes her for helping save Melissa's life. Piles of clutter and garbage, along with his overactive imagination, darn.
Not able to stop thinking of the woman he saw beneath Imp's mask, it is a wonder they don't hook up sooner. And distracted from the line of thought he didn't wish to have by a purse-snatcher. Heading home to make dinner for Melissa, but distracted by an explosion and yelling. Jewelry store robbery with the whole front smashed in, ugh, basic thug thieves, no skill or finesse at all.
A woman in a devil costume, calling herself the Jersey Devil, that is an insult to the legend. Ouch, energy blast from pitchfork and Ryan is sent flying. Hehehe, using his powers to 'lift' a car and act like he is going to throw it at her, priceless. And she runs like a coward, then hit by a ball of warped gravity and she is in the air without her pitchfork, too easy for Ryan. And she is taken away by the police if only all supervillains were this clumsy and overconfident.
Back to the kiosk with the old man and Ryan buys a pin with the Chickenhawk on it, hehe. Amused by the nickname and Chickenhawk one of his favorite cartoon characters, he would never hear the end of it if Imp knew. Thinking he needs a nice normal girlfriend and wondering about Candice Kade, hehe, we know how this goes.
The Hero's Heart by Phoenix-Spiritus
Lily asking her mom why she became a hero, now that is something I would love to know myself. At Whateley Academy in Crystal Hall in the summer, that would feel weird. Ah, regular sessions with Dr. Markham. Nice to see Lily and Tabitha interact as mother and daughter, figures it was Lily's father that made Tabitha wish to be a superhero.
Happy, in love, married with a daughter that was her entire world, just wanting a normal life. Then Robert didn't come home for 3 days, yikes. Just the memories, the fear of losing the love her life, brings tears to Tabitha's eyes. Left Lily with her grandparents, went out to renew contacts with associates from the bad side of Whateley, all to track down any rumors involving Falcon and finally tracked him down to a warehouse.
Ouch, found him as the creeps who had him finished another session of 'interrogation', unconscious and keeping him in a cell. Plus commenting on how much they would get for the 'merchandise' in another cell, slave trading is sickening. Child slave trade, it would take everything I have not to kill scum who do that.
Having Robert, just waiting for the right moment to bolt, she overheard what the 'buyers' would do to the children, imagined Lily in such a situation, and couldn't leave without rescuing the kids. So after that, she was always by Robert' side, making sure he was never alone and would always come home each night. At least the tale has Lily thinking.
Feeling the Force by E.E. Nalley
Tansy balancing on one hand, regretting her mind not being as fast as her mouth. Ito had been trying to explain the Mizu no michu, the Way of Water, and just had to snark about 'Feeling the Force'. Dang, never seen Ito this angry before. Ouch, hit with a bamboo pointer whenever she forgets to use just one hand, saying she is sorry while crying only makes him angrier, eep.
Saying she felt the Force and told to float a barbell with it, oh boy. Whoa, is he teaching her how to sense things through spatial awareness, sure seems like it. Talking about what she felt and Tansy learns somehow to hold her mouth, with a warning from Ito to gain control of her mouth or it will get her into a lot of trouble. Interesting way to teach her to adapt and flow like water.
Six men and what she did to them, starting with Officer Green. Trews with the chocolate with Exlax, ouch. Sergeant Hackitt with a sexual harassment claim, Tansy claiming he did but stopped by Ito. Officer Simpkins, her conscious and confession costing him a promotion. 5 minutes with Tansy as long as no bones are broken, Ito, you are a cruel, cruel man.
Trying to surround and overwhelm her, Tansy has Officer Green down first, then Trews as she disarms him painfully and falling onto Green. Dang, whoever tried to grab her with that arm regrets it immediately, legs locked around his throat and forced to floor. Sergeant Hackitt trying to kick her in the face in retaliation, only for her to block with her forearm and nightstick, plus a kick to the groin from Tansy, *cringes*
Simpkins bringing out a Ka-bar knife and tries to slash Tansy, only for her to parry him with the nightstick, he avoids a leg sweep but is off-balance and Tansy grabs his wrist and disarms him.
Ito believes honor has been satisfied, one or two of the guards grumbling about it, but Ito points out the Ka-bar knife isn't according to the Marquis of Queensbury rules.Tansy stomped on his face, caught the knife and threw it, embedding it in the floor between Ito's feet.
Tansy smiled and shook her head as she sank into the lotus position and caught her breath. As he walked towards his office, he distinctly heard her whisper, "Yes, Master Yoda."

Ayla at JFK's 'Dead Carpet Club', hoping Addy was already there as her flight should have arrived by now. Private room three at the Red Carpet Club, nice meeting place. Assistant already waiting for him there, Jade or did she sent Jinn ahead.
Jinn has upgraded her wardrobe.Ayla stared face blanked at the vision in front of him, a stunning Asian girl of about seventeen dressed in exquisitely tailored, expensive business skirt suit, white silk blouse emphasizing and framing her breasts, but still covering them with all decency. Short skirt cut exactly the right length to frame and accentuate the delectability of the stockinged legs, while still being long enough to not offend conservative business sensibilities.
Ah, help from Nikki and the Venus Inc. storerooms for outfits. Jade behind a laptop, howling her enjoyment, way to shock the boy. Ayla, you got yourself into this mess with a throwaway idea, you should have known Jade would take it seriously and perform the job to the best of her ability. Jade working at the computer as Ayla eats, Jinn purring that into his ear, is she trying to get him into trouble with Addy, there is only so much a teenage boy can take. At least he got Jade to put Jinn in the backpack for now, preventing a potential catfight.
Boy, Jade is good at keeping up that act, United States government won't issue passports to the deceased, hehe. Bwahahaha, continuing the act, saying Billie won't let her apply for a passport, classic Jade. Kayda having to tell Alicia that Jade takes getting used to but is mostly harmless, poor girl. Earn the response of Poesies being crazy, hehe, the cover is protected once again.
At least Jade knew to ask if they speak English, good to know in any language if nothing else. Mentioning the guns, explosives, and stuff, it is like she wants to see how this guy reacts. And the mention of her sister's ghost, that poor man might need a vacation after dealing with Jade. Jinn talking and waving at him with a white hand, bwahaha, no breaking the customs guys, Jade.
*eyes bug out* Poor Ayla, subjected to all that on the limo trip to the train station, plus Addy playing along with Jinn by not complaining about her flirting with her man. Ah yes, poor Hank and what Nikki and Toni put him through, it is a wonder he didn't blow up at least once. Telling Addy all these things about Nikki and Toni, plus how much Lily has Hank to herself now.
Ayla actually worried about what Jade has planned for him, rare to see him worried. All this messing with Ayla is just part of the fun of their vacation in France, *groan*, poor boy never had a chance of a normal vacation.
Skulljacker by Bek D Corbin
Dr. Smart meeting a young Science Fair contestant, she is actually getting annoyed at being told the effect she has on young women joining the field of science. Drs. Hong, Lefkowitz, Lefebvre and Mendez, other four judges on the panel. Plus the girl seems familiar to her, oh brother, it is Jessie in disguise again, it has to be. 'Jane' and her mother there with a 'hard light' 'virtual keyboard' for their project and not standing out.
Jane and her mother ogling Dennis Hawkins, he is giving Dr. Smart security upgrades and she thinks no one will raid a Science Fair. Dr. Lefebvre snarking at Dr. Smart, talk about issues. And two girls setting up the anchor to an Interspatial Dimensional Transit Portal device aka Boom Tube, Dennis was right, it is a raid!
Darn, intercepted bag by one of the two women, plus tore Dr. Smart's gadget belt off, bad start. A booby trap on the portal anchor and Dennis is shocked unconscious, ouch. Dr. Smart almost trampled by figures coming out of the portal, group of women with 'theme' horned masks, cybernetic limbs. Jane and her mother taken hostage, Dr. Smart thinks it is Dr. XXX behind this.
But it is Doctor Lucifer who is in charge of this and controlling Dr. XXX, and he has come bearing gifts. Returning the Stinger to Dr. Smart, explaining how he came to obtain it, and why he is giving it back. Dr. Smart thinks he did all this just to give the Stinger back, he has his minions bring out and assemble the Skulljacker so Dr. Smart and all the other scientists there can examine it.
And when asked what she would do if given the Skulljacker, she gives the answer Doctor Lucifer wanted to hear, wreck it so badly no one could reverse-engineer even a single piece of it. Plus giving her a high-grade sledgehammer to wreck the thing with, 15 minutes to reduce it to a pile of rubble, dang. He says he used the Skulljacker and feels soiled by doing so. And the Skulljacker scared him because it wasn't a Schimmlehorn device, but could be duplicated by normal science, yikes!
The true terror of what it would have been used for, the Power Elite of the world seeing everyone else as a disposable resource, what they would do to the mutants, etc. All that sounds worse than most dystopian futures depicted in fiction. And he brought it here for Dr. Smart to wreck it as no one would believe him if he said he did it himself. And with that, the incident is over and the supervillains will leave, no one harmed, certainly different from most such incidents.
Talk to the police and away in a vehicle able to disguise itself rapidly, Mara and Jessie Harrow never found out by Dr. Smart and the others. Down into the secret complex beneath their home, JD teasing Jessie about rocking with the wig on. And the plan worked, Dr. Smart and the authorities realize he was telling the truth. Uncle Luke messing with Dr. Smart with an 'Indian monkey trap' designed to keep her running in circles trying to figure it out, when it is all nonsense, now that is kinda funny.
Bordeaux Blizzard by ElrodW
Monique Leger at the office of her teammate in the Heroes Glorieux de Bordeaux, asking about lunch of the two women within, including Elle, hard to mistake that description for anyone else. Angelique Zhi Liu aka Orchidee Quantique, hero costume stored in a quantum tunnel, a spatially-warped gateway a signature of her power, very interesting power. And internship with the HGB, so that is why Elle is here. Angelique teasing her about Norwegian food, Elle blows her a raspberry, heh.
Tutoring from Flamme Bleu on her powers, nice to hear she is getting help there. Ouch, father injured in an accident and in the hospital, not the way you want to get out of tutoring. Brigitte Marquet, and Elle spots two Americans not even paying attention to where they are going, ugh, hate when people do that.
The Musee d'Histoire Naturelle reopening, good to hear they were able to repair it after the adventure that happened there earlier in the summer. Frenchman coming up behind Elle and complimenting her on her hair, why do I smell trouble brewing. Remy Gardinier flirting with her and Elle extends her hand for him to kiss, knowing he is trying to charm her but flustered by the kiss, uh oh.
Elle in a bit of a panic, not able to see her sponsors for her internship, leaving the truth of where and with who from Remy. Leading her to the museum and Remy uses some of the worst pickup lines ever. They come to within view of the museum, Elle spots everyone except Monique who she is about to call. When an MCO agent comes over and asks to see her MID just because she is there an obvious mutant, bigot.
He is trying to say the Schengen agreement doesn't apply to mutants, bet he is lying through his teeth. Demanding all that, scaring poor Elle who just wishes to talk to her sponsors, Remy trying to defend her but the MCO guy using what sounds to be like a flimsy case for arresting her. Elle, terrified of the MCO here and what they might do, panics and unleashes her power, creating a flurry of snow around her.
At least Remy keeps his head and drags her towards the museum, blizzard following her as he pulls her towards the museum entrance. Agent Favager is going to get chewed out by someone for causing this, or at least I hope so. Officials inside including her friends from HGB, at least Elle gains some control over her power, but Favager is chasing them as they head inside the museum.
Running right into the T-rex skeleton, not a good day for Elle. Favager seems like a guy who could rationalize killing a mutant child just for standing somewhere. At least it is only a stun pistol. Remy using that display board to foul Favager's shot at Elle, I was really wrong about Remy when she first met him. Elle's power going off in a self-defense maneuver, right as Favager's shot hits a fire sprinkler head, uh oh.
Suddenly frozen water along with a swirling mass of snowflakes, and there goes the whole sprinkler system. The poor museum is going to be closed for repairs again, because of one MCO agent being an ass. Inch-thick coating of frozen water, yikes. At least we know that Elle's power shields others in close proximity to her from the cold as well. Ouch, hit by aurora borealis-like colors and patterns, the hit parade keeps on coming.
And of course, the museum director and staff make it out in time to see the T-rex skeleton collapse under the weight of the ice, smashing the reception desk on its way down. This is a huge mess, I think worse than what happened to the poor museum the last time. That poor museum director, he needs a vacation. And Monique confronting Favager about causing trouble with a mutant again.
Favager is an idiot, Monique is right about any competent bureaucrat would know you don't carry such a document on your person. Three Gendarmes show up and Favager is going to answer for this incident, hooray! At least Monique knows how to handle an upset teenager, the local MCO office having a reputation for reckless behavior helps her case. And knowing there was a boy involved as she notes Remy still has his fingers interlocked with Elle's. And Favager takes this as a sign to retire, he can learn from his mistakes.
The Usual Suspects by Phoenix-Spiritus
Anna being told by Mrs. Selkirk that security wishes to see her about her activities of the summer break, she can't catch a break! Wait in Kane Hall with the others who have to talk with security about their summer adventures, wonder who else is there. Ree excited and wondering who else will be at this meeting, boy, she is so different from Anna in that aspect.
Ree wants to hear about the Kimbas summer adventures, not even wishing to go shopping just so she can hear it all first hand, interesting girl. Billie, Jade, and Ayla already seated waiting outside Chief Delarose's office, we know about what happened in France, if Billie there because of her flying to get to Jade during the Hank in the hospital incident or something else.
Of course Jade is excited that Anna stopped a kidnapping. Hehe, Jade trying to blame Kayda for getting them in trouble with the French MCO, plus annoyed she might be questioned about the museum again. Hehehe, the dinosaur skeleton coming to life, if they had filmed that it would pay for bringing in those paleontologists. Ah yes, Billie going to the Pentagon to find Hank's dad. Billie that embarrassed, poor girl was thinking with her heart and not with her head when she pulled that stunt. Tests on it all summer long, poor Billie got homework over summer.
Ah, first the road trip adventure with Lanie and Tansy with confronting Warhorse. Nikki coming in to help with Unchy's second son after he killed Kayda's grandmother, along with Addy, Alicia, and Danny helping kill the demon. Conference room for the museum incident, Anna, Ree, and Billie had to wait as he goes to read the riot act to the rest of them.
Poor Anna, saying she is sorry about their grandmother and so nervous about it. And thinking what it would be like to lose someone like that brings tears to Anna's eyes, one of the sweetest girls at Whateley. Ree going to go shopping, not wishing to hear the other students stories anymore, hugging Anna before she leaves. And more students being brought in, how many had adventures over summer break. Not as exciting when people die, poor Anna crying as Billie holds her.
A lot of great different stories, all great reads. Hard to condense it all down to final words like usual for a story. I enjoyed each story very much, plus the incident into the characters we've not seen before. Anna proving herself heroic, like I knew she could. Mrs. Carson and her regrets, plus proof she is a woman which would shock some of her students to learn. How Imp can distract Ryan without even being there, hard to get someone you have fallen for out of your head. Tabitha telling how she came to being a hero, not able to simply leave innocent children to such a fate.
Tansy learning a lesson the hard way from Ito, both about controlling her mouth and about what she can learn if she just focuses on what is being taught. Ayla being messed with by Jade and Jinn that way, definitely unexpected but oh so funny to watch. How they got rid of the Skulljacker in a way that even the supervillain community can't question if it is really destroyed or not, what kind of madman creates such a thing in the first place. Elle meeting a nice boy in Remy, but having Favager ruin it, I hope he goes through with retiring. Anna and Ree hearing the tales from Jade, Ayla, and Billie, including what happened to Kayda's grandmother. Drives home the seriousness of what can happen on these adventures the kids have.
All great stories and I hope in the future there is another story mix like this again.

Poor museum! Get's trashed again immediately after being fixed.
I was wondering what Billie was there for. She just teleported to DC and tried to find Hank's dad. Oh, that's exactly why she's there!
As a matter of fact, she is!I wonder if Candice Kade would be interested in going out

The reality crash Anna experienced in the last one was a nice touch. It seems an experience more Whateley students need, though none would want.
Also a bit of a shame I can't really see that crash happening with any of the POV characters except Anna. Crying over their own grandmother's, sure, but someone else's?

Ironically, before reading "Tales of Summer" I had just put a scene in my current fic where a certain blue-haired character says
"Guys, I'm just a sophomore and I had my share of problems last year, but take it from me: no matter how scary or different they are, don't take your friends for granted. Ever. My friends and I had to learn that the hard way. I think sometimes we're still learning that."

But is Anna crying over Kayda's Grandmother, or crying for Kayda's loss, or crying because she just got a shock of real people die during Superhero stuff?

Anna and her Wondercute friends might have gotten the shock that they could die from their combat final.
This time she was thinking about how she would feel if the things she got involved in caused her to lose her grandmother.
Anna looked up and watched Kayda hurry away, sadly contemplating what it would be like to have someone, or something, kill her grandmother like had just happened to Kayda and her brother. Tears were glistening in her eyes when Ree came up and gently touched her shoulder.
Anna's been the sort of person who really does feel sympathy for people around her, whether they are pretty or powerful or not.
As I read it, it's not the realization that she could die, or that people caught in the immediate action could die, but that death could follow them home to strike out at people who had no part in the fight at all that just pounds the stake in a little harder. For Ree it may be her first exposure to the reality that the stakes can be just as high for 'squirrel girl' or her own family as it is for Fey or Ms. Might.

One of the reasons the fandom has always liked Anna and Stacy Conrad is their realism. The nervousness, worryingness, the insecurity, that's all how real people of THEIR AGE RANGE would react to powers. A lot of the other freshmen have, as noted by others elsewhere, behaved as if they're five to ten years older. Or at least juniors or seniors.

Oooh! We're getting more Carson History! So rare!
Giorgio. Is that Giorgio Armani?? Seems like it!
Is Shelly rich enough to be a Golden Kid??
Jade's appearance at the airport was so sudden~! I would have thought the entrance girl would have said something about the 11-yr-old girl arriving. Or did she just sneak past?
Nice to see the Micros set firmly into canon!
Aww Anna rambling! Funny and adorable!
Funny all around, except where it isn't!
Woah. That last line~! Ree's the audience surrogate!
Can't really feel for Little Doe, or whatever her name was. Too manipulative.
Mood Whiplash? Well, we're sorta like Ree, thinking it'd be funny, then that happens.
