For at least a short while, we will have to alter the 2-per-week release schedule. We'll let you know more as we adjust the plans.

You are altering the plan. I pray that you do not alter it any further.

Slight derail, but someone who shall remain nameless reminded me of it.

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

As long as the altering doesn't involve ceasing the release of new stories, I think I'll survive. Otherwise a Deathstar may show up at your door.

What if altering the plan already involves a Deathstar?

Its difficult to say, it tends to run into hardware dissipation problems on the receiving end.

The real problem with a DeathStar is the length of the power cable you need to plug it in...

You speak of altering the schedule, but you say not which way. Dare I hope for a triple release if there were to be an influx of stories?

I admit, I didn't see that coming. (Nobody expects the canon cabal)
3 stories a week for the next foreseeable future, that's awesome. At the same time I hope you won't push yourselves too hard and that it won't be a strain for you in the long run.

I doubt we'll have issues with it, it'd not surprise me if the queue keeps pace for a while, at least.

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.

I was expecting a change to one a week, but to longer chunks, reducing the number of parts in each of the coming stories.
I never expected this.
Thanks Canon cabals and everyone supporting them in all the various ways that happen behind the scenes!

Well, I sorta expected an increase, 'cause there were repeated statements of change without stating direction, so they were hiding direction, which they likely wouldn't have done if the direction was the expected down...

So, with Danny 1.2... There's three stories this week... Is this gonna to be the new release plan for a while again? Or a one-time thing?
It's pretty nice though! Thanks!
... Oh. Wait. I guess 'cause it's more "You'll get a certain amount of text each week" instead of counting by story parts.

*nods* You got two on Monday more as a result of them both being shorter pieces than because we're back to having enough in the process to do three per week again. I'm sure we'll get back to three at some point, but atm I think we've got most of the Gen 2 folks working on bigger pieces and mostly progressing at the same rate. What that means, ultimately, is that we are in a Gen 2 lull... but when they finish, we'll have a bunch of Gen 2 stuff all at once.
Having the freedom to plan out a couple months in advance what we were going to release like we did back in the spring was great... but I wouldn't expect things to be like that consistently without a much more active community constantly feeding the authors with feedback and inspiration to work and a few more authors...

We could get that low again. It's not impossible. Especially if people get sick or hurt... like, having El out for surgery and his painful recovery time is going to impact the queue for September, most likely. He's been doing stuff despite the pain and such, but that's not the same as working full speed... which is, of course, frustrating for him. As always, we can only publish what we have. We've got some individuals in mind for canon inclusion which will hopefully boost our output a bit more...

I've said it before. I well remember those long dry spells when you would check each week to see if their was an update to no avail. One story a week seems like a treasure trove to us who remember that time.
I really should do more to express just how grateful I am for the work the canon crew is doing. It can be pretty thankless to slave over your creation and then post your baby only to get no reaction, or worse, to get people, like me, talking about what was not in it instead of what was.
Keep up the work guys, and girls, and those in between and I'll try to be more thankful for the bounty in front of me.

My muse doesn't like the pain or pain meds since surgery. I'm recovering, slowly, but with significant fatigue from pain interrupting sleep, difficulty typing one-handed, slowness of using Dragon Naturally-Speaking, and being bummed because of a work situation. I'm not as productive as I could be. Nevertheless, I have a Shine story, another Danny story, and a Laura story actually in work, plus a long list of other stories in idea or outline stage. So yes, we'll get back to the three releases a week - and possibly more.
And some of the plots - let's just say

Well, if your muse is complaining about working conditions, just bite the bullet, give her a vacation and tell us it will be a while before a new release. You don't need a grumpy muse on top of all the pain and stuff.
OTOH, if she is grumpy because she wants to work and can't... well, just fire that Dragon thingy and, whatever can't be farmed out to collaborators/beta-readers/proofers, just save for a week when she decides to go on strike.

Actually, Dragon isn't too bad - when I have peace and quiet around the house. Which isn't always. Kids look at me funny when I'm talking to my computer - and they hear the 'work in progress' story without understanding any of the background and context.
Frustrating is the exhaustion - go for a month on < 5 hrs of sleep a night, interrupted by waking in severe pain, and the moderate- to high-level ongoing pain, which making it hard to concentrate on writing. Taking pain meds dulls the pain, but it makes it hard to concentrate.
It will end, but it's frustrating.

I must apologize. I wrote "fire that Dragon thingy" when I mean "fire UP that Dragon thingy." Completely changes the meaning of the sentence. I meant to say, "dictate whatever you can to Dragon, don't worry too much about the mistakes -- either farm out the proofing to other people, or save the draft for a rainy day."

I've actually considered this recently. I've always got a recorder on me in case I need to record something for a sound effect. How hard would it be to just start dictating story text as I'm sitting at work waiting for audiences to fill the house and so on... I'm sure I can find someone who would be willing to play the part of the Dragon software and put in paragraph structure for me.

Dragon is funky to get used to because you have to dictate punctuation. But slow is better progress than totally stopped.
