Question Might be gone for a bit

My mom's heart is failing. It's been getting worse since late last year, and got really bad in February.
Just got a call from her, she's currently in a hospital in a nearby city, and she's being flown back to our town hospital tomorrow. She asked me to call my brother who lives 8 hours away to come and see her tomorrow after just seeing him for a few days last week.
She didn't give me any details, but she doesn't expect to last more than a few days.

I usually deal with stress by taking it out on my characters or telling the world to fuck off and die for a bit. I'm not sure which one I'll do now.
So if I seem to disappear again, you know why. If you want to make sure I'm Ok, send me an email I'll answer it within a few days.
Or I may hunker down at a computer and write like I never have before.

Sorry to hear Dom. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I hope everything turns out for the best, it's always hard facing the uncertainty of something like that. Rely on those around you for support. ( and in a selfish plea, don't kill Tara off)

Damn. I lost a parent this summer too; I know how much that sucks.

Really sorry to hear about that... hope everything goes as well as it can and I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts.

Little late here, but didn't know how to respond until now. Domo, spend time with your mother while you still have it left, and do whatever you have to deal. It is never easy dealing with it even when you know it is coming, no matter what any so-called professionals say. Just know everyone here is behind you, as you've already seen from all the others who've commented.

Just to let you guys know, my mom passed away two weeks ago.
Finishing all the paperwork, and other things has depression kicking in, but my daughter is keeping me from sinking too deep.
I should be back regularly with stories late next week, provided life is done kicking me in the teeth.

I can't honestly say it gets over, but it usually does get better.

I'll survive, I just need to kick my ass into gear. A dirty house and unfinished stories isn't good for anyone so I'm going to push myself hard over the next few days to get moving again.
It helps that I've been expecting it, and my daughter after a good cry is taking it in stride so is pushing my dad and I to do things.

Take care of yourself. The loss of any parent at any age is a heartfelt loss. When a parent says they'd never want their child to go before them, doesn't mean the pain will be any less hurtful for the child when the parent passes, no matter ones age.
