    Backtrack - Poe
    Calliope - Poe
    Cerulea - Dickinson
    Dragonblade - Twain
    Dragonsfyre - Poe
    Eisenmadel - Dickinson
    Glyph - Melville
    Hikaru - Melville
    Invictus - Whitman
    Kenshin - Twain
    Lapin - Dickinson
    Nick Jr. - Twain
    Shieldwall - Melville
    Victor - Emerson

  • Bored, and getting it wrong with hilarious reasons is as good as getting it right ...

Dragonsfyre, Whitman Melview, Jadis is milking her parents, the least they can do is put her up in the best dorm.

Backtrack, Poe (Have we seen Backtrack yet?) - first I've not heard of them, so since I'm too lazy to look up the introduction, I'm too lazy to make my own guess.

Kenshin, Twain. Nah, they are going to torment one of the girls (either his keeper or his 'girlfriend') and you need to have him in the same dorm to do that well, so three co-ed dorms, two for special reasons he doesn't match, leaves Melville.

Hikaru, Melville, where else? This girl is built for the place.

Victor Rivera, Twain. Nah, name like 'Rivera' sounds posh, and ElrodW's making all those jokes about gentleman thief, sounds like the Pink Panther, so let's put him in the right stomping grounds, Melville.

Lapin, Poe. I'm going with 'it's still the changeling dorm, there's no reason she didn't put it on her form, so she's where she should be'.

Invictus, Emerson. Um, OK, I got nothing else so I'll be lazy.

Calliope, Poe. Eisenmadel, Poe. Hmm. Do the grandparents fill the form out straight, or do they make the girls hide it? Do they figure there is a reason for the questions and answer them correctly, or do they think it's a secret that must be hidden. Decisions. decisions. I'm a gonna go with the grandparents figured out the secret of Poe (they have the contacts to do it, and there's no way they didn't find every secret they could before sending their precious grandchildren there), so, doctor's orders, these two girls go where the support group and proper help is.

AJ, Emerson Nope. Rich, Black Seed, straight to Melville, do not pass go, collect Mummy's money anyhow.

Nick. Hmm, is a choice here between 'wanting the Animen to be treated normally and putting them with the other GSD cases in a cottage that can handle that' or 'Hawthorn, let not make an entire generation of our boys feel inadequate.' Since there are showers at the Martial Arts dojos and there's no way they are making him shower alone like Ayla did, they can't protect the boy's fragile egos anyway, so let's not add to the expense. Twain.

Cerulea, 'Sara Lee' Desert Girl (couldn't resist the joke) now, as the girlfriend, she's in Melville for all your fiery Gadgeteer goodness on being snarked, and that extra 'it goes boom!' in the class warfare.

Shieldwall, Twain. Um, someone needs to go to Emerson, and the list is getting short here.

Glyph, Melville *shrill whistle* Penalty, cruel and unusual punishment, not ElrodW's chew toy. Student rescued and put in the GSD friendly dorm, Whitman.

  • It was AJ's parents who got milked by Jadis, not Dragonfyre's.

You might be right with AJ, but somehow I think his pet rules him out of Melville.

    Whoops, my mistake.

Hmm, American's think the British accent is posh anyway, so let's leave DF in the fires of Melville ... What? It only rymes with 'hell' it's not actually on that plain? Who cares, it's full of rich people, it belongs there anyway, and I'm sure a dragon could use a little warmth, failing that, a snack that nobody will miss, little bit of gold from the hoard and the 'grieving' parents won't be bothered anymore anyway.

Ok, OK! I get it! No girls in the boy's dorm, shesh! Anyone would think I broke one of the golden rules or something!

Fine! Invites can go to Dickinson, cause punishment! There! Satisfied?

Now I'm going to go daydream about an avitar for the Imp of Perversity getting a job entering cottage assignments into the Whateley computers, so there!

  • It's entertaining enough reading how some guesses can be so radically different from what I would choose.

So the real question is how on earth do you folks in the know keep yourselves in check and (presumably) functioning?

Seriously, thank you for your time and effort. It is appreciated.

I would keep guessing, if I got more information about my guesses, but the total number of ways those kids can be put into the 7 cottages is a bit much for random changes to guesses.

Well... you have 7 different guesses on your second try... you have the same number correct on both your first and second sets of guesses.

May I offer a couple of pieces of trivia relating to this movie...

1] Actress Maud Adams, who played Octopussy, is the only actress to have been a 'Bond Girl' in two different films. She first appeared in 'The Man with the Golden Gun'.

2] The film's title was taken from one of Ian Fleming's short stories and, apart from that, the film bears little relation to the original story.

I could come up with more... but I don't want to bore you all to tears.

  • Knowing that this isn't an uncommon business practice, I bet Ayla and Hugh "share" publishing buildings, what I mean by that is AJG by its very nature will have spikes in printing demands, new marvel comics, instruction booklets for most tech products, owner's manuals, catalogs, and so on, but those will come in spurts so it does not necessarily make sense to upgrade equipment as it wont always be used. Hugh has equipment (and employees operating and maintaining it) that isn't being used at optimum capacity, thus costing money, in this situation, taking on AJG overflow even though they would get a smaller profit margin from it makes sense, with expensive machinery you want as little down time as possible.

Depending on the scale of how much you are printing, it can also be more expensive, significantly more so if you have a significant demand, Which he at least did at one time, right now he'd be borderline, and it costs money to close up shop even if its a direct sale, and everyone stays employed, because of all the people you have to hire to smooth out the kinks of the sale of the print house, the transfer of employees and the legalities. Outsourcing makes sense if you don't have and never had high enough demand to warrant a facility (or additional facility) or when it would cost you less to sell the current facilities and outsource then the money those facilities are loosing (on a yearly basis)

All that depends on what you're printing. Chances are, as a minor, Tia isn't going to be doing the type of modeling you think she is... she'd have to get her mom's permission, after all. Can you see Estrella Del Bosque giving it?

Now, clothes modeling or fashion modeling? Doesn't need to be as printer heavy on the front end, because most of it is all for ads. You use the ad print, send it off in electronic form, then magazines and other such print places print it off and set it.

  • 1: Playboy does own it's own presses (and they're keeping them, btw, because it's one of the areas they are black in, and if you think on a moment, who says they're not accepting outsourcing themselves?) for a reason you all missed.

When Hugh started Playboy, he walked a REALLY fine line with the pornography laws, and it wasn't til Flint's case that they were struck down, so a lot of publishing houses (ie, printers) would NOT print Playboy (or worse), so Hugh was making money in that regard.

2: Tia may not by law, in the United States, do any modeling of a certain nature. Age restrictions, flat out. No permission whatsoever is allowed.

All true, but an American citizen with permissions can travel to another country, where laws are more lax, and do it. It has happened before.

As for the printing, I literally wasn't sure if his printing house was in the black or not. The end result is, for the fiction, it doesn't matter.

Well he has WAY more models then Tia, my comments were on the business connections that may seep through the stories. Actually I don't think she'll do much in the way of modeling per-say, more like Hugh's taking advantage of the sensationalism attached to her, and making sure his company is mentioned any time cameras point her way. Lets face it, she's the next best thing to a proper celebrity, and it wont be hard to make her into one if Hugh plays his cards right, her learning capabilities (and possible inclinations) give her potential pretty close to a true gadgeteer, even without her own holdouts (or instead buying them) her will to fight combined with her brains to keep herself safe, and agility will make her quite the underdog- I'm thinking she'll be the strategist of Kimba Gen 2 (I will continue to call them that until there is an official team name)

  • New speculation (which I really had last week, but forgot to post about it) is that last week's solstice moon is highly significant in the WU magically, and is at least part of why Mrs Cardin et al went missing this year as opposed to any other year.

And if the paper begins moving in still air or is making odd noises, the warehous is a state of the art incinerator. Yes it does cause a high rate of staff turnover but after the Missourri incident it's now standard operating procedure.

  • So, how do you guys think teleportation has improved, if it has improved at all, by 2016?

That particular variant requires a facility at both ends (it is not variable, travel only works between those two points given the hardware/software designed for it) and both ends require enormous power drains for stable operations. As a result, it is rarely used as a shortcut to the West Coast even under certain emergency conditions.

Obviously the further into the future the Gadgeteer has pulled the teleportation tech from; the harder it will be to reproduce because of manufacturing issues and the more likely that sub components (like power supplies) will be unavailable without other Gadgeteer work on those areas.

In THAT sense, the question you might be asking is less about whether Gadgeteers have viable teleportation than whether have seeded teleportation into the technology base of the baseline Engineering system.

  • Thinking of both the paper and teleporation comments, it wouldn't surprise me if by the time of G2, someone, somewhere has thought the concept of Aperture Science was a great idea - and maybe even built a replica of the most sarcastic AI ever seen (although hopefully not installed neurotoxin containers adjacent to the HVAC...).

Heck, some devisor may have even built a working portal gun (although being a devise, there's a strange shortage of volunteers willing to jump through the portals...)

  • Valentine: No, Nebraska hasn't happened yet. I gave my ok for Nagrij to go for it, which means it happens in the G2 timeframe.

Elrod: No, the Cloneclaw Massacre was in 2009 and didn't actually include any clones. Yes, it was a rager who, in the peak of an episode was cut more or less in two and 'both' halves regrew... but each with only a partial brain's worth of memories. The rager episode more or less continued until they disassembled him/them into one inch cubes with energy weapons and the help of a few TK's with the ability to generate hard edged force fields.

I'm referring to the 2011 chain of killings that were accomplished using a series of androgynous clones that were programmed with high level special forces/assassination skill sets to kill specific targets and were then allowed to be killed by cops or just melt down within hours of completing their assignments. 103 victims were claimed out of what were believed to be 120 actual targets... the remaining 17 were in unexpected locations at the time their assassination was supposed to occur and each of those clones melted down before ever making the attempt. The facility where the clones were created was found, but no one claimed the murders and even the Syndicate was unable to find out who did it. No connection has been discovered to tie together the victims, either. A few were high profile targets, but most were just 'normal' people.

Hmm... Presuming that Tessa will have an active MGC, and Charge watches over her with the assumption of Precog, like Mrs. Potter over her daughter, she'd still be alive, and not in a coma, no amnesia, not in a miniverse like Granite, etc... Presuming that the predictions are that good...

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that!
Or maybe I already did! I guess you'll have to wait to find out!

Hmmmm - maybe I should include her and Tessa could be the Gen 2 version of Jade .....

She would be in France, unless she's not... Hmm... ... Perhaps there's a European or something Mutant School by then, and the British just use Whateley 'cause it's more English or something??

Yes she does, and in keeping with her name, she is an Avatar with a Sloth Spirit. With luck she will get to her Monday morning class promptly on Wednesday.

  • How many luck / probability manipulators will be at Whateley at Gen2? ... Possibly more than the... six and possibly more of Gen1? ... Then again, they're rare... I think... So even with more mutants at Whateley, five seven luck manipulators at Whateley, all at once, is unlikely?

  • I'd assume that regardless of the size of the student body, Whateley would place a hard limit on the number of probability warpers (aka odds manglers) who don't have complete control over their power (which likely equates to all, given the nature of the power), only to be raised with the building of additional teaching accommodation (as in completely separate buildings) to minimise interaction between them.

Heh, maybe rather than Nimbus' scheming, the hole in Chou's tapestry was courtesy of too many probability warpers congregating at the same place at the same time...

As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!

The answer is more than 0, fewer than 17.

  • If he's a mutant, I wonder if Cardiac and Ebon Flow's son... Will be seen at Gen2 Whateley, in the later years... Unless he manifests early...

Is Ebon Flow's backlash finished by then?

Hmm... Is taking down the Chtapodi gonna be a big thing of Gen2? Nah, that seems too small scale. The Tong of the Black Madonna were taken out in like... One story arc.

  • Hmm... WMG for a Empowered -expy, due to a Spark Suit accident or something.

WMG for at least one character getting a BIT or something from Monster Musume.

WMG for a Sailor Moon inspired character. (Gen1 might be a better fit, as Sailor Moon is more in-vogue then?)

    Quite untrue.

He is in fact working at Starbucks.
    He's a Fubar-ista...
