Well there are bio-terrorist supervillains out there.
And they have contributed at least as many diseases as bio-superheroes have cured. Classic influenza? A thing of the past, thanks to mutant heroes and science heroes. Modern influenza forms, as developed by insanos ranging from Deathmaiden on up? A current problem. AIDS? Cured by mutant bio-gadgeteers. AIDS-II, AIDS-III, AIDS-IV, and AIDS++ ? Ongoing problems. The Common Cold? Cured by a mutant. Ickier stuff? Created by mutants.
It's a constant tradeoff that basically balances out until the Whateley universe *appears* to be at roughly the same epidemiological level as our world.

But the events you're talking about, given the Young Turks page, seem to be seen in Ayla 7.1 ?

These tell of the Kimba revenge the Turks, not the initial attack.
I have found it! The date was Oct. 12, 2006; it is described in Chou's story: "Blade Dancing."
