Hmm... Have I heard of this area before... Ah well, onto the story...
Childhood Friend Romance, so cute!
Also Bodyguard Crush! Awww!
...
A regular morning?
... No siblings?... ... Who's James?
... "Boarding school" ... so she was already at Whateley...
Now, have I seen her before? Jenna / James... Gonna refresh? Nah. Finish this first.
It was bad enough when they found out James was gay. If it hadn’t been for Will Jennings, who knows what could have happened?
Oooh! History!
“Why do you do that? Why do you always talk like I’m not right here?
Woah. ... OH! So she was James! The "defending her" bit made me wonder if she was a M2F, 'cause usually it's not girls that get that defense...
...
Looking up, it was Will. He bent down and took her hand, and helped her up.
How lucky... Coincidence, or something more??
It’s not easy on him. And in a way, you are a new person, even if you are still you.
Nice job thinking things through, Will!
an extremely hot girl, I might add…
lol.
Will smiled. “And then I realized that I loved you too.”
Awww!
She passed an alleyway, and heard a whimpering sound, like a hurt dog. Cautiously, she entered and looked around. Seeing nothing, she turned back to leave. She never even saw the fatal blow.
Oh shit. ... She's a new mutant, and then she gets killed, so suddenly? WTF is going on? ...
We don't even know her powers or anything!
...
... If she was killed by a Love Rival instead of a Bigot, that'd be interesting...
...
Is this a Prologue in the sense that it's just setting up the story, and next chapter's gonna switch POV, with Jenna staying dead??
Gonna go check the other stories for Jenna / James...

I think you should reword it thus: Since you have the period here: ...the car. Essylt unfastened Siobhan from her car seat, she then carefully picked her up and walked to the door.
Here too:
and Here:
There are probably other places that could be polished, but nothing sticks out quite as much as these. Now the first part of the story has me wondering about just what Mrs Carson might have been tipped to!

2 days past the last part!
Why are we having Carson POV? Interesting!
Louisiana
How is that relevant? The previous chapter was in New Hampshire... Well, presuming the title is name of a group that's getting together, that's where one of the members is gonna come from?
Pathologists
Is this Jenna's murder? ... No, wait... Those mutant murders by the Mad Science Experiments with Donnie, perhaps??
[Thought this on Final Touchups: Jenna was murdered by a Hunter Clone! Makes total sense!]
77 autopsy reports.
Yeah, betting it's those Hunter Clone Murders.
Bill Mathis
What? Who's that?
Renata
RENATA. OMG!
... Did we ever get that Bill's last name was Mathis??
Essyt held Siobhan
Awww!
The tools fortunately were warm, and there was minimal discomfort.
Thoughtful!
Examining the girl, Ophelia would not have been able to tell that she had delivered a child recently, or ever
Interesting. ... Is it due to Sidhe-ness? As compared to human women as seen in Gen2 with that exam??
Essylt bit her lip and shivered. she had never really given much thought to who she might have been before she made her new self, but now that thought bothered her.
Oooh!
Having parked, Renata triggered the garage door with the remote, closing it.
Wow, really noting everything. Interesting style!
I wonder if all that architecture's gonna be important in a battle or something? Or it might just be High Detail. *shrugs*
Oooh! Wait... Are people coming to steal the "Sidhe Messiah"??!? Nooo!
“Well, we’re here. You new home. Welcome home to both of you!”
Nice!
it was painted like the night sky, with more gold and silver stars
Oooh! Pretty!
Roger came in.

Essylt giggled and helped the small dog onto the bed, and they both promptly went to sleep.

That was sweet! Although sad for Tanuki watching it!
It's also sad how well Team Low Self-Esteem fits the Misfits... Although, presumably they're getting better...
Christmas had been a painful experience. The whole time her dad had been treating her like a boy. She had screamed at him.
Woah.
Mom could only cry as she avoided Aggie.
And that so doesn't help.
She's got some good physical boosts from her mutation, what with that Regen, but the social effects of the mutation and stuff are totally contrary to her wants of a supportive family, some romantic love, etc.
Those nightmares. Wow.
She was glad to have friends, and the fact that her friends all had their own problems in a way helped.
A bit of light in the gloom! Possibly even a lot of light! ... I wonder how their Christmases were.
Have we seen her magic yet??
Hmm... I'm thinking that the Misfits are gonna rally around Essylt? Or she's just cameo-ing. 'Cause she's gonna be in the Village for most of it, so not much opportunities to interact?
I thought they stuck with Dregs, then I checked. Whoops.
Random thought: What would happen if Gateway summoned a Tanuki while Tanuki was around.
Typo:
She (h)ad seen the whole thing.

Hm. Tennis balls, and Whateley has a mandatory Phys. Ed. requirement. Ow! Then there's the matter of whether there's even room left to retract to on really cold days. If it were me, I'd be looking up shrinkage spells as soon as I heard there was a library ('cause you know someone has thought of that as a dirty trick to play).

And Essy, Siobhan, and Roger too!

She looked at the baby
Hmm... Is she gonna make the correct conclusions or not? If not, it'll likely be funny!
Also, this is the first time we've gotten a description of Siobhan's face?
Aggie was startled back to attention when Essylt returned.
Aww! Engrossed by the cute baby?
After explaining about her discovery by the horrible man that had pimped her out, and the long process of knitting together her own psyche, she smiled and shrugged.
Woah. So non-chalant at revealing her origins? ... Then again, Touch Teep means you know who to trust?
Compared to that, she was unremarkable.

Essylt walked over and gave her a gentle hug.
Awww!

So, is Essy a reincarnation of a Five-Folder? Or recognition based just on description, is more much likely, since Aung isn't supplying memories anymore?

Alicia grew up in the Bayou, and likely could recognize wild hog and alligator wounds fairly easily.
"Ah think this is wrong, a gater don' rip an tear lahk that, they crush with the strength of their jaws"
Similarly, if you want to exclude mountain lion and bear attacks, whom better to ask than a Bear spirit and Mountain Lion spirit?
Ophelia sorted them geographically, so that they could eliminate local species of predators.
In this case the hands were deus ex machina, in that fingerprint identification could be done on the victims.
the memories of being buried in snow go waaaay back to the beginning of Eire, where she awoke after the burnout and mindlessly shambled about St. Paul.
as for the line about her eyes, Tanuki hosts the spirit of the raccoon dog.
They are the basis for the Japanese myth of the Tanuki, a mischievous animal spirit known for playing tricks. One of the prominent features are over-sized testicles on males.
When it comes to trusting people, Essylt seems to be able to determine who is good and who isn't instinctually, not really a power. But Aggie approached her, and was friendly. She may have sensed a kindred soul, or someone that had a lot of pain that they were dealing with.
And the Elephant in the room...

As the snowfall increased in intensity, the man opened his eyes briefly and saw a lone four leaf clover sticking out defiantly from the white.
“Heh… just my luck.”, he laboriously said before closing his eyes.
Those were the last words the man would speak, as he lay in the white embrace of the falling snow.
whateleyacademy.net/index.php/forum/fabr...-eire?start=20#43930
First thing I remember was seeing a four leaf clover in the snow.
[HOLY SHIT. She remembers that from her Pre-mutation! ... If he wasn't so pickled, she might have inherited more memories?? ... Wait. If she tastes alcohol, might she remember more? She's never been in a bar and stuff... Hmmm... Well, the Village has a bar...]
subtle probability warping power.
OMG. I need to sooo account for that, in things like surviving Tamarack and encountering Tamarack and stuff! - “Heh… just my luck.”
And then there's also backlash, of Bad Luck, unless that doesn't happen... Dunno if it's a must for all Luck Poles...
What do you know of Aunghadhail, The Queen of the West?”
When she heard that name, Essylt panicked. She fell backward in her chair and crawled away her hands up warding off invisible blows.
“I’ll be good, don’t hurt me. Please. Don’t hurt us! I’ll be good!” Terror and panic was clear on the young girl’s face.
And THAT. Forgot that too.

...
Wait... With Tamarack, there's the Grove which is a rich source for plants to attack with, and possibly aligning with the Bastard to get Mythos Plant Magic or something? Nah, likely she's a Solo Operator.
Speaking of Tamarack... What's happening with that girl... (Patty) Who went to the ball... ... She's been killed by a Hunter Clone, hasn't she.

Unless she's a new student??

The next cases were a pair of runaways, Tiffany Brooks and Robert Hawkins
Nooo!

Nice reveal though!
a young mutant girl was found in Concord
Confirmed!

How good are the facility in hiding their worries about the Hunter??
... Hmm... So, how long has the Hunter had since it got to Whateley?
Houma, Louisiana to Little Rock, Arkansas = ~450 miles.
That was crossed in around 5 days. so the Hunter's speed is around 90 miles a day.
Concord, New Hampshire to White Mountains, New Hampshire = ~100 miles
Presuming that Whateley is around the White Mountains, given that its "nestled in the midst of the Presidential Mountain Range of New Hampshire"...
The Hunter have been at Whateley for almost two weeks already! ... Is it making evidence by subsisting off the local wildlife? Are the Weres reporting anything? Hmm...
Always been wondering if it's got a human disguise of some kind, and can sneak in as a Student...
She walked up to the airlock, and punched in the key-code.
Hmm... Who's this? *thinks* ... OH! Motherlode!
If anyone were to see her at that moment, even sweaty as she was, they would say her looks put the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Betty Paige, or Jayne Mansfield to shame. At 6 foot tall, she was pale, looking like a marble statue of perfection come to life. Anyone that saw her would claim that Aphrodite herself had come down to earth, and that internationally known models would crawl over broken glass naked just to look half as beautiful as her.
Woah! That's a lot of beauty. ... *Wonders how she compares against Fey. ... Effects seem like a Glamour.* *Shrugs*
Lol. Just found this funny: "Aphrodite herself had come down to earth", 'cause Cytherea is Aphrodite, and is at Whateley.
Becca was getting so big. But she cried whenever Angela was around. In the end Angela had hidden up in her room for the majority of her vacation.
OMG! So sad! 'Cause that's her daughter, and she's afraid of her or something!
... When she sees Siobhan with Essy... Mega Envy or something?
Putting them on, she activated the sun lamps that were affixed to her ceiling,
OH! Right, need that Vitamin D and stuff that you don't get while in the Suit!
... Wait... Why is she appearing? Is she gonna be attacked by the Hunter... And is the first survivor? She's a pretty high Exemplar... And if she's attacked and survives, that'll make her pregnant again?? *Worries*
Or just giving her an intro scene 'cause. well, she's a Misfit.
... How was her interactions with Donnie? Gonna check that... Might the Hunter actually not attack her 'cause of their memories??

As far as the travel speed, that's assuming that they are going by foot. They might be in some form of vehicle. You are also assuming there is only one.
Angela IS an exemplar 6, so she got smacked with the pretty stick a bunch of times. She is quite pretty. and at 6 foot, she combines the aspects of beauty with stature... looooong legs, and all, And bigger girls can pull off being busty and curvy easier than us small girls.
As for why she appears, setting the tone of the team members, post vacation.
As for Becca, a toddler scared by the thing that makes hissing breathing sounds and is covered in black and has a scary breather mask and eye covering goggles.

OMG. That first section! Terrifying!
There's a pack, and the Hunters are controlled with pain implants... If those implants are disabled... Then what??
not so early that there was time to go back to bed and catch some more sleep, but not late enough that it wouldn’t matter she had gotten up early.
Ohh... That time of waking... I totally feel those feels!
Resigned to her fate, she stacked the pieces into a pile and announced to all the world that she had made a piece of modern sculpture.
LOL! How Tink! Although, not as severe... The Gad / Dev tests are a great source of humor, given how few successes it's had!
Essylt crawled.. yes, literally crawled, to the changing room.
Woah.
she let a brief crack in her cast-iron serious bitch-face facade show, as she looked at her young temporary companion.
“Who’s a cute little baby? Who’s a cute little baby? You are! You are!”, she cooed.
OMG! So cute! Nice to see Hartford her being happy!
Doyle, again. The gash across the back of Essylt’s neck had already healed, thanks to her own magic,
Wut. How did she get hurt??
the two new girls demonstrate their martial arts knowledge in a sparring match.
Ah.
Emerald
Eh? Who's that?
when Essylt had stepped out of the ring, and turned away she used her powers to manifest a green crystalline shard, about the length of a softball bat.
Foul! So foul! ... Also a sign of inexperience in formal sparring, and also sore loser-ness and stuff.
She had been growing out her hair, ever since she could remember. it had been almost down to her waist, now it was cruelly hacked off, and laying on the ground. she began to cry hysterically, and Tolman had to walk the distraught girl to Doyle.
OMG. That's a super traumatic haircut! So much loss of time and drastic change in appearance, in addition to it being her first haircut, IIRC!
Patricia Halsey watched as the elf-girl was escorted out. She let out a snort of contempt. She would no doubt get in trouble for this, but Daddy’s lawyers could deal with it if need be.
OH! ... Hi, Patty. So nice to see you aren't actually Tamarack.
First On-Campus Victim of the Hunters? Or is she good enough to survive??
Or might the Hunters be discovered and no deaths occur??
Something about her just made her seethe with anger.
Oh? ... Might Tamarack just be there in her head, nudging, instead of all-too-obvious possession??
If so, might Tamarack be able to upgrade from Emerald into a Hunter??
... Maybe the attack isn't Emerald's fault? It seemed pretty likely to be lethal... Essy's Luck powers saving her?? ... And Emerald actually killing her... How would Emerald feel after taking a life?? ... Hoping for redemption!
Terrible if Lucy comes back, as some combo of Tamarack and a Hunter? 'Cause then she's under enemy control and stuff?
Although, could she do it by possessing Emerald or something??
That's all assuming that Lucy is gonna come back, in some form... Hmm...
but that lowly elf had one-upped her, and must pay.
:horror: ... Is she gonna attack Siobhan?? ... Just really expecting that to happen at some point... Would be so good if it didn't, though!
but her day would not be getting easier.
Not good...
she finally got through to her that she wasn’t an avatar,
Oh right! Hawkins is the incompetent Advisor!
promptly collapsed onto the couch, instantly falling asleep.
Woah! That's really, really drained! ... Hope she gets a good nap! ... Although, given Drama, might she be woken up inadvertently somehow? Hmm...

The cortical implant detonates. That's what I'd do for backup.
I have to wonder if Eire just got signed up for the same "BMA for Masochists (and losers of bets)" that Metro and Bloodwolf got themselves volunteered for. If Daddy's Precious Gem is also in the class, I don't see BW taking excessive violence against a lactating mother very well.

I was thinking of the Special Topics class that Chaka, Aquerna, and company took in Winter 07. The idea isn't so much to learn to use particular uber-weapons, but weapons and other styles appropriate to the students.
Only fencing? Even with epee and saber under her belt, Emerald's going to get curb-stomped by half the swordsmen we've seen. Not that I mind.

Bio: Trisha grew up in Cleveland, the only daughter of a single father. She doesn’t talk about her mother. She was well liked by her peers, until the fateful day she first manifested. She doesn’t talk much about the incident, except to mention that had her powers not manifested, she likely would have been run over by a semi and killed.
Ah... That's... Bad.
The conversation, as it inevitably does with teenage girls, turned to boys and clothes and music.
That eliding! ... So, we dunno who's got a crush on who, etc! Interesting!
They had more than enough time to watch a movie, and get in some shopping before the bus back to the school was scheduled to arrive.
Oh, they're outside... I shoulda realized that. Diner and no location change marker... And so, they're where the Alpha is... Hope they survive!
... Maybe surviving'll get them some street cred? Not like they need any or anything. But, if the Alpha's sapient and stuff, I hope communication happens!
The Alpha leapt at the unsuspecting prey,
[Who is it gonna be? Hmm... Backslide's got dodging powers... Are they gonna activate??]
Aggie’s sharp hearing picked it up before she saw it, and she dodged to the side, pushing Fidget out of the way.
Whoops, Backslide can push others. Not herself. And they're all still alive!
Alphas are highly muscular and protected. Doesn't have any resemblence to Donnie from the outside...
Ah, even if the Misfits are well trained, they've got reliances on equipment, which they don't possess at the moment...
And the Alpha's got backup! One Alpha each! ... Where did they come from? Other Alpha handlers in the area? Or was Mr. Hawkins somehow holding 3? ... And these new ones are older, and/or better fed...
... And this is an Alpha's first time against trained mutants. ... Where are the Misfits in the rankings again? Whatever, it's pretty high up, IIRC.
Backslide screamed as one of the new arrivals suddenly leapt at Fidget.
Nooo! Is she gonna make it??! ... And it cliff hangs! Great stopping point!
Hmm... Tanuki hasn't used any charms yet. I bet she's gonna save Fidget.
This fight is also pretty loud, and the Whateley bus is arriving soon? Soon enough to be of help?

Fidget screamed as the creature leapt at her, sure she was done for. She fully expected to die, so when the fire hydrant slammed into it, and knocked it aside, she said a little prayer of thanks, and looked around.
YAY~! She's alive!
She seemed to be directing the water, as it shot in a stream, pinning the creature to a wall. Behind her stood another woman, this one was wearing a green parka with a faux fur trimmed hood, and grey sweatpants.
Renata and Essy? ... I really don't have any idea of what Renata looks like, for some reason.
“Codenames!”, she barked. “I’m Lake, this is Eire."
Whoo! It's them!
Weather magic! Always cool!
In the distance(,) more cries could be heard.
Oh shit. There's even more of them!

“What do we have offensively?”, the teacher inquired.
Lake's good at being in charge!
Reluctantly, Lake convinced Backslide to hand her weapon over to Fidget.
Ah, she doesn't like kids with weapons? But, getting weapons into the hands of the skilled is a good choice.
Three more hunters appeared
Ohh... 5 normal Hunters and the Alpha... Super dangerous! ... Will any more backup arrive for our heroes??
Lake and Eire combined their abilities
Cool! Did they plan this, or is it on the fly?
Likely planned? Or they just work well together.
The one that had been electrocuted earlier had not moved, it appeared that it was, indeed, dead.
Oh, right! Okay, so the tally is now 4 normal hunters and 1 Alpha. ... I wonder how well the regular ones do without an Alpha...
Three more of the hunters arrived, and Lake shuddered.
Woah. How are they gonna get outta this alive?!? After some point, Backslide's shield's gotta go down?
Really thinking super backup arrives soon!
Worse yet, someone, somehow was blocking their cell phones.
Oh. ... I wonder if that's part of the hunters' implants...
“I would do this if I could, I would never ask a student to take a risk I was not prepared to take myself
That sounds so good leader-y! Nice!
Oohh... Is Tanuki gonna take one out, or fail?? So much tension! If she fails, then morale goes down, along with the loss of a member, etc!
Taking a moment to hug her first
Aww! ... Sorta ship, but mainly just heartwarming!

The barrier’s limit could be seen, as the snow that was falling actually deflected away.
Nice details!
Aggie, did a backflip over the dead hunter.
Cool!
With that opening, she stuffed a seal into the small wound, and rebounded off.
Okay, Aggie is just full of acrobatic awesomeness!
the ensuing thermal shock literally tore the beast’s own armored carapace apart.
Eww. But cool physics!
Backslide wiped the blood from her nose, as she fought against the violent feedback.
Not good! Is she gonna keep it up until the fight's over?? Or is she gonna die from overexertion, instead of Tanuki dying of combat???
Still dunno if everyone survives... Dunno how much I can trust that future glimpse!
Fidget saw the girl sitting in the snow, her hands were blue from the cold. She couldn’t perform such intricate and delicate work with her gloves on.

... Wait... If somehow, they can activate the hunters' pain implants, they might survive this! Oohhh! Essy's Luck, please save them!
... If Fidget dies, and Gavia learns of it, she'll be so sad at her half-sister dying! ... And then there's how Motherload will take that possible future...
it managed to roll slightly and lash out with its tail. Tanuki was stunned as the tail hit her mid-air, causing her to fall with it into the massive hole.
No! ... How's she ever gonna survive this?!?
The creature had landed awkwardly, landing on its head, and breaking its neck, but that was no consolation for her. Her own landing had been just as bad, and she cried out in pain
Yeah! Luck in killing the beast! ... Oh no, she's dead, isn't she. ... Oh, good, she's alive!
Worse, looking down at her from above was the smaller predator, the one that had been skulking around, observing.
Oh, someone save her! Or is it gonna cliffhang here??
Yep.
... Well, the Alpha's not moving, now... Will one of Lake and Essy's attacks kill it? ... Maybe some super lucky Donnie's Memory Flashback thing for the Alpha will save her???
Really expecting Donnie being the origin for these things to be relevant at some point... Although, it just might be at Doyle when they're examining all the evidence from this battle...
Or, she might save herself. She's still got explosives, fire and ice spell slips? She hasn't used up all her ammo, either.

Backslide had shifted from offense to defense, releasing her push on the creature, and spreading her push field out, as a protective barrier.

the Alpha slinked along behind them
she caused the winds to puck up
she caused the winds to pick up

Need a possessive there...
The larger one shielded the Alpha with its body
Since we don't know any specific hunter as "the larger one", it should be something like:
A larger one shielded the Alpha with its body
Or
The largest one shielded the Alpha with its body
Reluctantly, she handed over the 9MM to Tanuki.
That's Fidget handing the 9MM over, right? Not Lake taking the 9MM and passing it?
The "she" is ambiguous.
Could try something like:
Tanuki was given the 9MM
“I… I understand(.)”
Need end punctuation.
Fidget handed over the 9MM and ammo.
Wasn't Tanuki already given the guns and ammo?
Aggie[] did a backflip over the dead hunter.
Don't need that comma?
There were now 7 of the larger predators, more having arrived unseen.
Weird... Is there reader / character knowledge dissonance here?
We, the readers saw the 6 new hunters arrive... But, our heroes didn't?
and she could increase the pressure one of the beasts had not been abole to jump clear in time,
and she could increase the pressure. One of the beasts had not been able to jump clear in time,
Backslide turned again and redoubled her effort to repel the monsters. Lake and Eire were unleashing all they could against the monsters.
Using "the monsters" to end both sentences seems too repetitive, maybe call them "the hunters" in the second sentence? Then again, at least its consistent. *shrugs*

There's equipment on the market for faking a tower to hijack cell phone connections. The handlers likely have something like that.
Jamming the signal screws with piece of equipment on the same frequency in the area, and can be detected much further away than the effective range - another way of yelling to anyone listening "Hey! Enemy action here!"
As a working hero herself, Lake should have alternative comms available that work on frequencies that Whateley Security monitors.
Or, this could be the time that we find out if Essy's Royal Sidhe. Not subtle, but quite attention-getting.

The gun swap was a tactic to put additional firepower into the hands of the one that would be striking at close range. At a distance, the armor-piercing rounds wouldn't have penetration power, but at point-blank, or close to it? Yes.
Renata came unprepared, she wasn't looking for a fight, (as I will reveal soon, She and Essy were in town to pick up some groceries and puppy food - I had said earlier that the campus store, probably didn't have dog food, but that's probably not true. Clover has to get food for Buttons somewhere. Maybe Roger just doesn't like the food they have in stock?) Additionally, she is a rather new teacher at the school, and has to learn about the dynamic of how people strike at the school.
The cause of the cell disruption is something that the handlers have, as for it not being detected at Whateley? It could be a gadget or devise that compensates somehow, or just has a shorter range, and isn't picked up miles away at the school.
Hawkins is a bigot and racist. the handlers seem to be mostly H1 wanna-bes, and not a tactical squadron. "You can lead a man to water, but you can't make him think." - They were given the tools, but who knows what they could do if they had an actual tactician with them.

Backslide wiped the blood from her face, as she pushed out with her powers, keeping the beasts at bay. She saw the small one circling the sinkhole that had been created by the explosion.
Whoo! She's still alive!
“Elemental magic of that magnitude isn’t easy. Especially weather magic.
Worldbuilding! YEAH!
but even though I am probably strong enough to just take them and use them as my own, I won’t do that. For one, I would risk angering the elementals
Elementals are your friends (sorta). You don't force your friends to do things. Usually.
In the old days, a queen of the ancient courts would have had the power to do so, and not have any fear of reprisals.” Essylt shuddered at the thought, knowing one queen in particular that would have had the power and temperament to do such a thing.
Oblique Aung ref! Nice! ... Likely Eire's not gonna do an Elemental Dance... Or even if she did, it'd be a bit different from the Seductive Fire Dance? Hmm.
“Furthermore, I would risk upsetting the balance of the elements. If I tried such a thing, I could very well, mess up the weather patterns and cause them to go out of control. That could potentially plunge the entire East Coast into the most severe blizzard it’s ever seen.”
That's also concerning. Yes...
Lake smiled, the training she had done back in Minnesota with Starfield had done her good.
Continuity Nods! I like!
Her hands were blue and jittery, the cold was getting to her as well.
Really hoping you're gonna make some awesome piece of tech and save the day, Fidget! 'Cause your team seems to need it! Unless they survive without it... Hmm...
Well, I don't think its gonna be a Red Herring...
The prey in the pit was dangerous.
That's what you think, Alpha... She's basically only got her hands now? Still... That magic...
Only once had they even encountered a situation where there was more than one target. Those two were taken down quickly, as they had been weak and sick.
Ah. So, Tiffany and Robert might have made more of an impact if they were healthy. ... Well, I can hope.
Hesitantly, the alpha jumped down into the deep hole, where the prey was on the ground behind the body of the fallen pack member.
Oooh! I hope you survive, somehow, Tanuki! But how...
Seeing the small one dive into the hole, Lake knew something had to be done.
What. Now? I've basically written off Tanuki 'cause the Alpha's been in the hole with her for about a second and he hasn't been blasted out or anything.
Maybe they're not as efficient in killing as I think they are??
at the loss of even more mobility
Ah. Even less ability to bash Backslide's shield. Good!
Wielding a pair of foot long icicles, Eire jumped onto the roof of a nearby car.
Cool! Pun not intended!
The alpha turned as it heard the cry, the figure jumping into the pit.
Pit fighting!
out a cry as one of the icicles found the soft tissue of his shoulder.
Right. Icicles worked before, why change tactics?
Backing around, keeping her eyes on it as she faced it, she maneuvered to where Tanuki was.
Okay, my guess at the pit's size was all wrong. I thought it would just barely fit Tanuki, instead of it being big enough for this whole fight and stuff.
“Get on my back!”, she shouted.
Oh, she's strong enough to carry her out? ... Well, she can jump on cars, etc, so yeah. ... I forget how strong Eire is... And you addressed that: "fortunate that Essylt was strong enough"
trying to get up.
Ah. If it can't then that's really good accident, taking out the Alpha easily!
The other hunters sniffed the air, and turned towards them.
Hmm... Push them all into the pit and snipe them with icicles or bullets for easy kills!
Just before she reached the monsters she dove into a feet first slide, carrying them both under the charging brutes,
Awesome!
Backslide collapsed to both knees, her power just about spent. As she looked at everyone, she said a silent apology, and passed out.
Oh no. How are they gonna survive this! ... Accidentally glanced at next paragraph, so... ... That actually tells me almost nothing.
Renata Hughes, tired from the ordeal sat out in the waiting room.
Okay, so the previous paragraph wasn't a hallucination! YAY!
Fortune seemed to work like that around Essylt,
Yep! Good to see it be useful for others as well!
And testing by sticking her near other Luck Warpers would be a bad idea, right.
‘the luck of the Irish’.
Jokes! Nice!
Fidget had managed to get the jury-rigged phone to send a weak morse-code message to Whateley,
Yay! She saved the day! ... If this was Essy's luck, it forced this because it was saving its owner. But still good!
it was discovered that the small one had somehow managed to escape.
It climbed out, right? Not dug out? The latter would be really cool though!

I didn't say how large the pit was exactly, but it was more than big enough for an 8 foot hunter to fall into and break its neck, plus room for Tanuki to fit, and hide behind the corpse. Plus the hunter had to look down in, and jump in... so guessing at least 10 feet deep, by unknown width.

In one of the Kayda stories, I think it was Earth Mother who mentioned that in place of hobgoblins, uncontrolled Essence could also manifest as random events or coincidences similar to probability and/or reality warping.
It's possible that the powers testers could put Essy in an Essence-depleted area, and measure any residual warping that still goes on. The likely effects of leaving a Sidhe in such a place for very long would make that an unethical test, but it could be done. What really happens would be up to RB

My recollection is that Bunny does have some experience in bio-divising.
Jobe went on, “Of course you’re thanking me. It’s only natural. But I’m not interested in your little problem. I’m busy with my own projects right now. I just don’t have the time. But try Hazmat. If he can’t get the job done, try Bugs, then Telomer, then Greasy, or even Erlenmeyer if you’re really desperate.” Then he stepped into his private lab and slammed the door in her face.
She has enough Bio-division knowledge to be part of what I need her for, since she has commented before on cellular structures and eggs, and has more than a passing familiarity with those. It's not her main field, no.
And She was the 2nd person recommended by Jobe for the hibernation project, so he acknowledges she has some bio-skill.

Nikki sat and dejectedly poked at her salad. Paul was fighting off a cold, and was still in bed..
Why's she sad? And who's Paul? ... Ah. Stalwart. So rare to hear of him!
Ah, all of her lovers are away, and there are goings-on that are affecting those around her, but she's out of the loop! That does sound really frustrating!
“I would ask you a penny for them, but you would turn that on me, surely”, he said.
Ah. "Penny for your thoughts" twists! Cool!
‘Tell Ms. Reilly that if she wants info on this girl, go talk to her personally’, sorry, but that is all I’m permitted to say."
Oooh! ... Is that meeting happening this chapter? If not, then anticipation rises!
ensconced
Nice word!
Jade looked uneasily at her food, while Molly pretended to be fascinated by her spaghetti.
Did they get gag ordered too?? Woah.
In her usual Anna exuberance, Anna began to talk a mile a minute.
Now this is super exciting!
Anyhow, she looks like you, I said that, didn’t I?
LOL!
But she’s a lot nicer.
Woah.
Um, I mean not that you are mean or anything, but she’s not as self-important. Oops, I don’t mean that as a bad thing.
She's so blunt-ish! Well, she hasn't stopped talking, so Fey doesn't look angry enough that's she's been shut up...
I’m sorry. She’s just not so regal and um… um.. not haughty, I don’t mean you are haughty. No, anything but. She’s just so polite and nice.
WOW. Is her foot all the way in her stomach right now?
And her baby! Soooo cute. Those tiny little pointy ears and that precious little face.
Well, at least she stopped the accidental insults.
Do you think it’s a familiar, like how Clover has Buttons?

Nikki sat there, unsure of how to respond. She opened her mouth, then closed it, then opened it again, before finally closing it and rubbing her temples.
“I.. I think I need to go to the infirmary, I’m starting to get a headache. I’ll see you guys later.” With that, Nikki got up and left the cafeteria, forgetting even to bus her tray.

Everyone turned and looked at Anna, who sat there oblivious. “What?”, she asked. Sighing, they all shook their heads and the topic of discussion turned to what garish thing Jericho would be wearing today.

Nikki had left Doyle with some extra-strength headache medicine.

Just be Nikki Reilly, ordinary girl. When she meets that Nikki, I’m sure she will like her.”
Wyatt Cody. Pep Talk Master. Whoo!
With a smile, Nikki walked off towards Poe, unaware of the doubts that she had planted.
Silently and unheard, the Kodiak pondered and frowned before speaking to nobody. “Not her… surely, it can’t be her. I pray that I’m wrong.”
Woah. Mood Whiplash!
Who did Nikki think Essy was?
And who does Kodiak think Essy is??
So much important mystery!

I didn't see Fey wonder who she was... Kodiak? Now he's the one with the ancient memories. But Aung, who would maybe clue Fey in is absent. However, I suppose it may be in the microscene threads, but I haven't seen how Essy came to know quite so much about how Fey acts. So far as I know they haven't interacted at all, so she is just making assumptions based on other people's reports.

Paulson's office? Why we there?
Well, he's the techie teacher, so maybe something to do with Fidget?
Or something about the hunters' implants?
So, Langley's office 'cause its the only semi-private place with a 3d projector?
...
Nope. 'Cause its him and he's talking with his students.
Mages and Psis consulted to say that brain hack is best done with tech! Well, knowing what not to do is as useful as its opposite!
...
Why are we moving to Aung? Unless the Clone hunters have some resemblance to those Pack Hunters that Razorback looks like?
... Nope. Verdant Isle. Aka Ireland / Emerald Isle... That's how Essy fits into this...
...
Really good / lucky that Motherload wasn't with the others. Learning of Siobhan, and doing CQC with her powers... Would not have been good?
Wait... Her BabyFactory power is terribly valuable to the Cloner. ... She's sorta like a MacGuffin Girl, if so, and that brings mega problems!
Her suit can be broken by Cutters... Like Emerald's power?
Tamarack forcing Motherload to have Emerald's baby... Magically Possessed Baby Plot Thing?? A.k.a Poltergeist or whatever?
...
Woah. Aung... Sorta hates Essy's ancestor, And that's a lotta fear for Essy to react like that? Then again, as a protective mother, all threats must be eradicated?
Hopefully Gwen's ancestor had better feelings. They both have good feels from the pixies... And were both not in Aung's good graces at one time?
Also, the Grove is fun when it likes you! Nice!
...
Brain Hack has not progressed at all, this chapter... Wonder what's going on there... Mysterious!

Valravn, after Roger attacks Metro a time or two (in case the idiot was at fault the first time). Even with short legs, a Corgi's faster than an average unaugmented person, and I don't think they cower if they think their human might be in danger (terriers sure don't)

So far, the only "normal" animals that haven't automatically disliked or feared him have been horses and cetaceans.
Ravens might not fall for that sort of thing, but werewolves turn out to be an exception.
Buttons is a Gabriel Hound (which could be anything from Cu Sith to a Hellhound), and that could be problematic given the associations with death, the daoine sidhe, and Herne.

They didn’t have long to ponder though, as they were ushered out quickly.
What could be behind the door?
Oh, right, the brain-hacking project. They must have made fast progress on it, unless it's something we ourselves have been working on, for quite sometime.
After what seemed like an eternity, Trisha had cleaned her side of the room, and Jordan was okay.
See! They can be trained!
But, what if it's all a ruse to gain access to Jordan's future developments, as a way to cut out Ayla?
Jordan watched, curious about how much influence the spirit had on Aggie, even when it came to small things like using chopsticks instead of a fork, and picking Asian foods.
Do we know any other hosts who've been so strongly influenced by their avatar spirits, other than Pejuta, Pounce, Miasma, Aquerna, Mokole, Kodiak, Bloodwolf, and Razorback?
It is often either played up for laughs (Pounce, Miasma, Aquerna) or down-played completely as being all part of the super-superpowers lottery (Pejuta, Kodiak).
Angela was glad that they couldn’t see that she had tears running down her cheek. She nodded rapidly. Taking the sleeping girl out of the bundle of blankets, she looked at her, and wondered how her own little one was doing.
Awwwwwww.
There, the told Essylt all about Donnie and Lucy Jensen, and what had happened to them.
Maybe they didn't know all about Donnie and Lucy after all?
Maybe the real Lucy was switched with a clone, which underwent the massive organ failures that people thought might be in Belphoebe's future, and only just now have they been able to wake her up with the cortex bomb, telepathic transmitters, and apoptotic failsafes disabled?
Perhaps our friend here has found a means of perfecting it?
Even so, how will she cope with now having a male body and hormones?
Will this be enough to keep the school safe from the H-1 extremists gathering around Dunwich?
Maybe they can turn the alpha into unwitting mole (maybe even a naked mole rat) for their side?

"gopher hole"
Wut? I'm quite sure that's not a euphemism for anything... Especially not the big hole she made in that big battle...
Okay, We're 4+ days from that. So, actual gopher hole.
"Angie had carried her to the med center, and was waiting outside for her."
Ship?
"There was a room down at the end of it with security posted on either side, and doctors and nurses were rushing in and out. They didn’t have long to ponder though, as they were ushered out quickly."
Interesting!
"Compared to some people’s Deidrick’s episodes, hers were thankfully less violent."
Mm...
"She had taken the opportunity to read up on her illness."
Smart!
"while others would have uncontrollable laughing or crying fits,"
Hello, Giggles... That was her name, right? *shrugs*
"She dropped her bags and walked over to her roommate, and wrapped her in a big hug."
Aww!
"She had a mild form of OCD, when it came to cleanliness and her workspace. Unfortunately, since she often worked in the room, she associated it as being a workspace."
Oh.
"Jordan was okay."
Yay!
Wait... Her family has similar powers... Hmm... ... Well, mutant power inheritence isn't straight forward. ... Spoilers for The Call of the Waters, so not gonna spoil it for future readers.
"She walked over to Trish and gave her a big hug."
Aww!
"Jordan watched, curious about how much influence the spirit had on Aggie, even when it came to small things like using chopsticks instead of a fork, and picking Asian foods."
Interesting!
"Jordan knew that Angie had her food delivered to her room in sterile containers, due to her situation, but it still must be awfully lonely to have to eat alone like that."
Mmm.
"In contrast, Trisha was wolfing down her fries."
Lol! ... How much envy from Angie? *shrugs*
"Looking up, at Essylt, Jordan smiled."
I wonder what's gonna happen...
"Thank you for inviting me."
OH! Cool!
"the girl’s rebreather was making that menacing Darth Vader hiss."
Mmm. Well, Angie should be able to fix that first impression, once she speaks... Unless jealousy at Essy being able to hold her daughter and stuff... Hope not, but dunno.
“Hello, I’m Angela. Otherwise known as Motherload. Don’t mind the suit, my mutant power requires that I have to wear this for my safety.”"
Yay!
"This little pooper"
Ha!
"Angela sighed. “I have a little girl myself. Her name is Becky. Because of my mutant power though I really can’t hold her without my suit.”"
Ah. A bit sad, but not full out jealous! Great!
"“Would you like to hold her, while I go get some food?”, she inquired.
Angela was glad that they couldn’t see that she had tears running down her cheek."
Whoo! Guessing these are happy tears!
"but when the subject of boys and sex came up, she reduced the others to awkward blushing giggle-monsters."
Lol! Nice!
"Essylt was added to the roster of the Misfits"
YEAH!
"There, the told Essylt all about Donnie and Lucy Jensen, and what had happened to them."
Woah.
"She opened her eyes, it was difficult, and everything was blurry. She could hear people talking, but it was muffled. Her body wouldn’t move, and all she could do was blink."
Wut?? So confused! But it'll make sense later, I assume! ... At least she's in Doyle!
"Awg uu Ulrite? Duu uu need neythin? Ken uu heer me?"
Are you alright? Do you need anything? Can you hear me? ... Who's saying this?
"She realized it was a breathing tube. She was on a ventilator."
Whoa!
"This wasn’t her brain, this was a different brain."
Hello, Lucy? ... Nice POV Switch making us think this was Angie! Cool!
*Checked Discussion Thread.* Hmm... Will Roger appear??
"And then death. Was she dead? If she was dead, why did she feel alive? Closing her eyes, a single tear slowly trickled down Lucy Jensen’s cheek."
Yep, it's Lucy! Hope she gets happier soon!!!
I guess since they knew when she was gonna die, they could Koschei Chest her soul and do a Shelly.
Typos:
"she associated it as being a workspace.
Seeing a bra haphazardly slung over a lamp, and litter everywhere made it hard."
Paragraph spacing issue.
"must be awfully lonely to have to eat alone like that.
In contrast, Trisha was wolfing down her fries."
Ditto.
"the(y) told"
How many lines do we have? We've got Emerald... No new guesses on that? ... Jordan's family stuff... When's Parents' Day again?? ... Does the Winter Term have Parents' Day??
Gonna rely on Essy's Luck to get the proper people together at Whateley for that...
What are Lucy's powers, now? ???

OMG! ... If she's the daughter of the Curser... So many bad feelings from Aung to Essy! ... Okay, not Curser's daughter. Good?
I wonder if Ériu has any cousins? Well, Absinthe's past self, who was also an exile, and an adopted cousin... They could have met?
The girl bit her lip in thought before replying.
... That reply! So informative!
Looking up at her aunt, the younger queen spoke.
Mmm. Something about this seems strange? I think I'm assuming that Ériu's lands are Aung's lands as well, and all the Elven lands are one connected nation?
Musing on War Situation:
So, if Aung commands the Eastern Front, then Essy commands one of the other directions... I assume the West.
Aung doesn't worry about losing one front if the East is won? Hmm... Strange, 'cause losing one front might lose the war?
But likely there's other lands that could buffer assaults, even if Ériu's kingdom falls.
War planning needs a lotta thought.
The war situation likely isn't too relevant, as the war itself is so far in the past...
Although, we don't know who's right, and which actions led to the Bastard winning... No, we do know that Aung wanted Eiru's forces by the end? "We are lost, and all the world will suffer for that long ago folly.”
If you will not willingly lend me what I need, I have the power and authority to take it! ... I will wage my raid, with or without your forces.
But if she uses her power to forcibly take Ériu's forces, she would be raiding with Ériu's forces, no? Why didn't she forcibly conscript those of the Verdant Isle?
Aung didn't ask three times... Well, rule of three is a new thing...
the verdant lands, for no aid will you find there
Did Ériu do something to her lands and people to make them unusable by Aung???
----
Essylt awoke with a start. She was breathing hard and sweat was tricking down her face. She pondered the strange dream, but had no answers. Sitting there alone, she hugged her knees and rocked back and forth as she cried.

War planning needs a lotta thought.
The descendants of Aunghadhail's Weres ended up appearing among the North American native peoples, and the Avalonia terrain had welded itself to Greenland as Pangea was being built, so maybe the Verdant Isles were on the northern flank of that Eastern Front?
Then again, kingdoms and empires need not be contiguous, or make sense.
It seems that the Queen of the West got her armies, crippling and alienating the Emerald Lands/Verdant Isles in the process. It could have happened weeks or centuries before the Sundering (Court Sidhe seem to have been very long-lived). Sometimes when people want something badly, badly is how they get it - and all the joy of it to them for the trouble.
Bujold, in Shards of Honor wrote: The really unforgivable acts are committed by calm men in beautiful green silk rooms, who deal death wholesale, by the shipload, without lust, or anger, or desire, or any redeeming emotion to excuse them but cold fear of some pretended future. But the crimes they hope to prevent in that future are imaginary. The ones they commit in the present — they are real.
The battle lines having pressed so close to the gates of Atlantis by the end, it's nigh likely that Ériu's lands - and Albion beside - had already been lost. After a screwing-over like that, the best the refugees could hope for is to be sent to a quick death on the front lines. ("Here's a pike and a bicky or two, good luck soldier!") I'd reckon as many as could evacuated to Tír na nÓg, Ys, and Avalon. (In one canon story, Aunghadhail admitted her title didn't have much weight "Under the Hill", but that her distant cousins might still give Merry shelter.)
Malady wrote: Although, we don't know who's right, and which actions led to the Bastard winning...
I think everyone contributed, and far more enthusiastically then than they'll ever admit to in the after.

Shuster Hall, and its the next day! Hmm... Are we getting Lucy? Revival / Resurrection has a lotta paperwork? ... Whoops, right, Shuster isn't the Admin building.
Mmm! Cookies! And more awesomely, cookies that she made! Nice that she's feeling better!
Happiness not lasting... What's gonna happen next paragraph??!
...
OH. That's terrible! Who did this?!? ... Green Marker... Is Emerald responsible??
Hey, Toni... What ya doing here? Essy's luck pull you this way? If so, why?
the other girl had her fists clenched, and was ready to find out who did this and beat them up.
Whoo! YEAH!
Toni hugged the poor girl. Seeing Nikki on the opposite side of the hallway,
Aww! ... Is that the other reason you brought Toni here, Irish Luck? ... *Essy's Luck is responsible for everything. Lol.*
to go look for one of Essylt’s friends.
How do you communicate that non-verbally? *shrugs*
Whose gonna come, I wonder? ...
In other news, we haven't seen Absinthe around. Then again, Essy isn't trained in counter-spycraft, etc, so even if she were where we could see her, would we know?

Thus when Jordan and Angie arrived
Woah. More than one arrived! Hmm... Angie might have the more interesting reaction, depending on how much bullying she's been having, if at all, for her teenage mother status, except being directly due to her mutation... And I bet her daughter isn't common knowledge like Siobhan.
... Okay, no described reactions from them. Hmm.
Well, Sam appearing, is sudden and really shows how affected Essy is by this, that a sorta-long time went by and she's still affected.
a squeak toy she had intended on giving Roger was ripped to shreds. ...
Woah. They're just going for massive destruction... Have we seen that sweater before? If its a memento... Oh, that's... I don't have words for how terrible it is!
Depending on how much slashing happened, Emerald might be the obvious suspect?
A picture of Siobhan lay there, with the words "Bastard Child” written on them in that same green marker.
That's even more troubling, 'cause all those pictures, might be evidence of spying and stuff! ... ... Would Absinthe be blamed, given the green, and her spying???
The assembled onlookers startled when there was a loud rumble of thunder coming from outside.
Oh. How bad is this gonna be??! Worse than Nikki's thunderstorms, since Essy is the more weather magic focused??
Turning to Nikki, Gwen nodded and spoke. “You’re right, she is strong... and if someone is provoking her, we need to help her.”
And now we see Absinthe again! ... Lol if someone calls "Abby" while Absinthe, and some other Abby are in attendence. Confusion Lols!
If… If.. Aunghadhail were still with me, she would know. I feel though that if she were, it might just cause us more troubles.”
Ask Kodiak! Lol! ... Does he even know of Essy's presence yet? 'Cause if he did, I dunno if he'd hesitate in telling Nikki??
understanding all too well that past-life problems with Aunghadhail could create issues and problems in the here and now.
Mmm. ... Aww! Hugs!
Seeing her precious little one seemed to calm Essylt down, as the ominous thunder ceased, and the grey cloud cover dispersed.
Yay! They're safe! ... For now...
notifying Amanda Tolman that Essylt was being excused from class.
Oh, yeah. Classes are still a thing.
... Did the attacker achieve their goals? Then again, bullying doesn't have a goal except emotional assault, so it likely is just gonna keep happening until someone stops them.
Outside Amanda Tolman’s office, Laird Hall.
Whateley Academy
Same Day
... What's going on here??
She listened in with delight. Having learned that the girl who had upstaged her that day was from the same city had made her furious.
Oh, hello, Emerald. ... How obvious are you being right now?
Ugh. Classism and stuff.
Daddy’s investigators had dug up all sorts of dirt on the elf-girl.
How much do you PIs know? Do you know more than us??!? That be hilarious if Emerald is the path to Essy's pre-manifestation mysteries!
She couldn’t get rid of all of them by herself.
And so, the Hunters return, and are let in??? ... No... ... Maybe???
Or, are you gonna form a Counter-Squad like Starbrat did / does / whatever?
She was well developed in all the right ways, Patty noted.
You lesbian, Patty? Or just sizing up the competition??
Duplicity
TwinThreesomeFantasy! Lol!
But, more importantly, you're name sounds new?
The wheels in Patty’s mind started to turn, and a plan was forming.
Yeah, betting she's gathering a counter-squad.
So many lines going at once! Lucy, Angie's manifestation powers, Jordan, Essy, Hunter Group! Whooo! Every chapter we don't see them, invites speculation on what they've been doing since then!
Likely the Hunters had some new members cloned? ... And the Alpha learned. Which is bad for our heroes! But, now that they know the threat is out there, the students have even more protection or something?

The interesting thing with the Alpha and other outsiders, is that they can get a lot more prep, in less time, than anyone else, due to an abundance of time and possible resources?
... Wait. did the Misfits + Backup just kill all the hunters, and now only Alpha remains??
If so, and the Cloner hasn't had any efficiency improvements, then we have a possibly good estimate of how long it takes to make a Hunter?
Emerald and the others... We don't have enough history or motives or known equipment to make any good guesses on what they're doing?

Stefan DeWitt-Hollingsworth
Why do you sound familiar? ... Too much Bioshock Infinite. Unless you're related to Ace, (Andy DeWitt). Likely no relation though...
chasing around a boy that had antlers.
Oh hey, it's Mads!
On one side, a girl with bright copper hair stood, pulling against a group of 5 students on the other side. Besides the fact that it was one-on-five, the other interesting thing about the situation was the “rope” being used. It was the girls’ hair, which was a braid of at least 20 foot long.
Wut? Who's hair-girl??
His dorm was full of the movers and shakers, heirs to family fortunes, and in some cases, royal heirs.
Ah. A Melville kid. His last name fits that.
He had no powers. Why had the school accepted him? He thought about it for a while, before drifting off to sleep.
How do you get enrolled without any hint of what your powers are? Or self-denial or something??
And we move to Patty and Duplicity... Why? ... Wait... Form Swapper is Duplicity's powers? Well, her name's Stephanie, the fem! of Stephen / Stefan, so betting a yes there.
That must be weird for Stephen, and stuff, if they're unaware of each other. But things seem to make sense to them, so memory share I guess.
Patty was firmly heterosexual, but even so, she couldn’t help but notice that every movement and gesture Stephanie made oozed sensuality and sexuality. Patty swallowed hard.
“So,You had a question?” Stephanie asked, again her voice dripping with sensuality. Patty crossed her legs, ignoring the feeling of wetness between her legs, and the hardness of her nipples.
Hmm... Glamour / Sex Aura or something? Or Patty is less het than she thinks or what? We need another POV of Stephanie to refine our guess...
Stephanie shrugged it off. “Being good is boring, All the good people live their lives, like little sheep. You and I aren’t sheep, we are wolves. It’s our place to cull the herd. We are leaders, not followers. I’ll help you, but in exchange I will ask a favor for you at some time.”
Personality shift too... Super mysterious. Steph is the more interesting, compared to Patty... Due to lack of info.
Stephanie: She was stunning, Taller than Patty, perhaps 5’9” - 5’10” or so, with raven black hair and eyes that shown bright like blue sapphire.
Stefan: Standing about 5’7”, he wasn’t overly muscular, but he was in shape. He brushed his brown hair out of his face, and closed his hazel eyes.
Hmm... Who knows about their situation? Maybe a lot of them, but they don't tell them 'cause it creates bad things when confronted??
I guess it's a sleep-transform. Instanteous, or gradual? If the latter, I wonder if they could be woken up midway. Then what happens??
The Alpha huddled in the cave, nursing his wounds.
Hello... He's alone? Where the handler go?
Hmm... It's been... more than a week. He's nearly healed up, so I'm expecting another attack by the end of a week...
What'd happen if he meets Lucy, I wonder...

Yeah we've been complaining about that especially WRT these posts (I mean things in the fab lab) there is some need IMO to be able to edit any part of what you post somewhere like that.Rose Bunny wrote: I fixed the chapter 14 part. It wouldn't let me edit chapter 13.
Yeah it was somewhat obvious that they hadn't killed the Alpha. We are looking forward to seeing the connection between Stefan and Stephanie. As for your questions, the Alpha escaped at the end of the battle.

January 25th, 2008 - Is a Friday! Cool!
And it's been two days! Interesting! Two days for Patty to plot and scheme!
*Saw a comment about zombies. Wondering what's up. Could be totally off-topic...*
Woah. That first paragraph! Steph is setting up a romance for her alter-ego or twin or something? Sorta sweet! ... I wanna see Stefan happy...
... Woah, Patty knows a lot! Or is it Steph that knows a lot and fed Patty the info??
Aww! That's a nice gift! Something to remember her by!
Steph's plan is mysterious!
----
And woah. Jordan and Lucy getting ambushed! So much! I bet their gonna make it out, but how, and stuff...
Are they gonna be rescued by Security?? That's sorta rare!
She didn’t feel any pain or even awareness as the changes began.
What changes??! ... Knuckle Spikes! She's become Adaptive, in-exchange for her healing??
And more changes! ... Will they go away soon? Or stick around a while??
Or, is she just changing to be more like a Hunter, instead of adapting? Given that she got a tail and stuff...
Woah. Bloodwolf's afraid! That's rare, but knowing when to be cautious is the sign of a good warrior.
Jordan, you gonna safely calm Lucy down? Or is she gonna attack you too???
“Kill you… KILL YOU ALL!”, the creature that was Lucy Jensen raged. With her murderous intent fixed on those before her, she never saw the blast from Lady Astarte.
Wow. Didn't expect that resolution. Bet Lucy's got the Kill All Mutants stuff like the Hunters.

“What the HELL did you do to this girl?”,
What a way to start a Chapter! ... Oh! Right! She had that transformation and stuff!
Ophelia Tenent nervously ran her fingers through her hair… or was it the hair running itself around her fingers?
Mmm. True...
...
The administration, through Jobe, now know a lot more about the Hunters?
What will this mind dive reveal now??
----
Stephanie DeWitt-Hollingsworth
Wow. She's... really surprising. Cool to see her pwning Patty!
Still dunno the connection between Stephanie and Stephan? ... Hmm... "self-gratification" as transformation trigger??
...
Aww! Abby comforting Essy!
More Nikki and Essy stuff in the future!

tiny, oft stinky one
Lol!
This was his territory, and someone else had marked it.
That was so tense, wondering what it was! Just Bloodwolf, not the Alpha or anything.
he had cowed the avatar before, chasing him off.
Aww!
The nice human with the long hair came to meet them, and she gave him a pat on the head, and a biscuit. She was nice, he loved the biscuits he got when they visited.
So nice!
This scene is soo sweet!

...
Yeah... Really thinking Patty is bi... Or just really, really observant... *shrugs*
Are we gonna get the reveal of the Stefan-Stephanie mystery???
ROFL! So vague! I'm still thinking its a split personality kinda thing! But, if they have separate rooms, that lends more weight to them being separate... We also never see them in class?
Patty thought about that. Other than Daddy’s money, she didn’t need much.
WOW. That reveals soo much.
Patty provides the motivation to start the group, but Stephanie's the real leader here! ... How much info ''can'' Stephanie dig up on Motherload?? Not sure what's available...
Yep. Stephanie's the true leader. ... But, Patty has a bit of leverage, by being Stefan's GF at Stephanie's insistence... And then there's the possibility that the new members are possibly even better leaders, but I doubt it...
Then there's the possibility that they actually don't find other recruits... Hmm... Are they gonna be an all-girl squad like the Misfits??
Wait... The Misfits were all-girl, except for Tapeworm... Duplicity's a girl, except for Stefan... Hmm......

Long response later, when I'm at proper computer.
Isadora's Coffeehouse? That's a new location...
And Patty... So, this is her date with Stefan??
Yep, and it's starting off well...
So, he thinks that he and Stephanie are brother-sister... Time will tell if that's actually true...
Well, we think the sister is Stephanie, but we dunno... And what he thinks of as running away might be something else... But is it??
And now we get Patty's childhood...
Or at least her succinct mutation story...
Ha! That lean in!
She really likes giving gifts, huh.
This is actually sweet, hope they work out...
My "sex = transform" guess, will make things interesting if true...
I think Stephanie know about that sex = ???... It'd be terrible if Stefan has some Sex=Death of Partner thing, or something, that she wants to use??
....
Back to the Quad!
Trisha... Don't think that's one of the Misfits... And who is Paula??
And David?
MoodWhiplash with the funny snow fight right after.
I'm wondering if a snow elemental is a waste of Ess, but it is funny!
...
And so, Patty and Stefan had sex! ... Ahh! So much tease, having her walk by Stephanie's room and not looking in!
So close to revealing if Steph and Stef are separate!!
Maybe sex as form stabilization, instead of forcing a shift???
Oh, and she's not dead, so that's good.
So, presumably Stefan wasn't a virgin, 'cause if there is a Sex = ??? thing, Stef had to have had sex so Steph could find what happens.

Whooo! Revelations!
Okay, so they are two separate people... And she's trying to flirt, even now... Wow.
Oh, it's a disorder of some kind... Well, that was at the back of my mind? Or hindsight is 20/20...
She really does seem to care about her brother, though, so that's nice.
... If Patty and Stef ever have a disastrous break up, things are ''really'' not gonna go well for Patty.
What exactly are her feelings towards Stef?? ... The way that's phrased, makes me think BrotherSisterIncest, but I think that unlikely?? ... But... If so, is she having Patty be a proxy for her???
What exactly happened between them, to make him knowing about her, so bad??
----
And, to Essy!
Oh... ... Right, she was pregnant so soon after her "birth" that she never actually had a period... ... Nice to see Nikki and Essy getting along!
And no giant magical disaster! Well, she already had one...
----
Trisha did really well! Winning a 4v1! Who were the four though...
Woah, Jordan getting that info! What exactly is in the report, changes so much about what Jordan's reaction to Essy will be...
Gotta reread that story, to see what it said about the cover story...
Hmm... and I guess Trisha getting her info, was also because of Stephanie...
----
Typo:
"feebly,( )allowing"
Well, I think they're two separate people, but we still haven't seen them together... "You two" can still be used, even if they're in the same body...
Where would they send her, if not Whateley? Would she be ARC-ed? Or something?

That mood whiplash with the babies and then Jordan's condition! Woah!
And that plot is moving forward rapidly, with all that setup!
From the middle floor, a figure silently watched them as they left. A fist clenched tightly.
Ominious!!
----
Lucy! Lol at her smell info!
Woah, I'm surprised that Essy didn't react to the warning on Lucy's danger to Essy...
Didn't expect the mind dive, but that's cool!
So, Lucy's dreamspace is really bare? I'd expect Essy's to look like that, given her mind's sorta piecemeal nature... Oh, is the simplicity due to Lucy's special mental shielding? ... Wonder what the others' dreamspaces look like...
Whoo! She got better, or something~!

What we do know, is that she's seen Romantic Comedies (Part 23) and scary movies (Part 37).
What's most interesting is her Magic Detection power from Part 23... I dunno if we've seen it again, but it's something for me to keep in mind, against her magical enemies... Not that she has any... Which is interesting in and of itself. A mage without magical enemies...

The Alpha!
Versus... Interesting. Canon Voodoo-Wolves are Mythos Werewolves, but this is cool too! And being able to sense the corruption... Well, it's Mythos, I guess. Not hard to detect when it tries to mess you up if you look at it...
He's being helpful! Defeating Voodoo beings...
----
Essy in the Grove... Wonder how close the Alpha is... And what she's doing here... Naked Trio Magic. Interesting.
Ah. Essy and Nikki for the connections to the past, with Abby for the Illusion magic to visualize things. ... Wonder what information, if any, this will reveal...
If they get interrupted, that'd be interesting...
And, we see Eiru's death, and that Dark Being, who is likely the Bastard, who did some dark magic with Eiru's Heart...
----
Alpha right outside that Grove... Interruption Pending? ... And Alpha is dangerous, but weak against strong groups!
Sorta, but interrupting the Alpha instead of the other way around... Seeing your past self's death must be pretty traumatic! ... Anyone else gonna arrive? ... And then seeing the naked Sidhe?? Or will they get covered up before then??
Nothing's dead yet... Except those Voodoo beasts... But yeah... Jordan's armed and might drick out... And she's got a target...
