If anyone knows, please answer this comment with information as to where I can find this fascinating conclusion to DAAVBF.

Bek suffers from an unusually ADHD muse. Hopefully we'll get the end of the story eventually, but until then, you haven't missed anything.
Speaking of the new info, do you think that the Witch Queen that Stronghold mentioned was AJ's mom?

The opening post seems good. It says DAAGBF. Somehow, however, the "est friend" thing crept in afterwards.
I am really not sure how to edit the opening post when the opening post seems correct. Yes, I am unfortunately something of a computer illiterate. Perhaps I am even not even seeing the error of which you speak.
The est friend thing seems to start with Arcanus Lupus who was very cool and nice to quickly answer my opening post.

Liking all the thoughts that show worldbuilding and how it fills the world with peoplely people instead of going straight plot-plot-plot-plot?
Shipping Nightlord and Nightfox? 'Cause their names both have 'Night'... ... Ships have been made with less... ... Or Fox might do that thing where you seduce a 'partner' for a job and ditch them after, with Lord? Like, Lord doesn't know that Fox is Alumni, so Fox could do something with the Alumni teaching a student or something?
Need to re-read to remember some of the previous stuff, but I think I got the gist of it all...

Now, give three cheers, I'll lead the way. Hoorah, Hoorah, Hooray!
Heh. The Diaboliks seem to have acquired their security from the same place Whateley did. I think that Jadis should install a window that pops up when anyone tries to open the door, saying "are you sure you want to do that? Have you checked who's outside?"
Good to see that Vamp is being her excellent self as always.

All those idiotic excuses for why they are protesting outside Jadis' house that early, good grief, it is like internet trolls in real life. The Bad Seed's Book of Dirty Tricks, get your copy right now and you too can get away with stuff others only dream of. Good lord that is an extensive compendium, don't let Jade ever read any of it, she is dangerous enough with own ideas. The pranks section alone would be a nightmare in her hands. Strict rules for gaining access to it though.
Intense frustration, extreme boredom, and unfixed anxiety all caused through technology, clever. Always nice to see H1! creeps get into a fight and in trouble for it. Jobe's mom shows up and causes poor Belphy to freeze up in confusion at a hug, mistaken for Jobe. Yet gets another hug and welcomed to the family when Jadis corrects Mrs. Wilkins. How in the world did Jobe turn out like he did with a mother like her?
Joke still works."This IS Jobe, isn't it? How many of these did he make?" Jadis-"There are two more, but I put my foot down on two of that model."
Lorna Wilkins, Jobe's mom, gets Jobe and Belphy into a group hug they can't escape. Crown jewels, she wants to make sure they are done right and not leave it up to Jobe, thinking they will be all spiders if they do. Money is no object to her, thankfully as Vamp was freaking for a moment there. And already she is treating Jobe like a daughter, complaining about her clothes. Exemplar 5 Strength now and Jobe can't resist being dragged upstairs by her mom to changes clothes, priceless.
Belphy and the others are lead away by Jadis to be warned about the "landmines" in dealing with Lorna. Talked of Gizmatic founding the Order of the Worn Wrench, a long-running feud with 'Blue Blaze' who became Champion for who knows why. So far, so 'Silver Age Superman vs. Lex Luthor', love that reference. Briggs meets ADA Lorna Langtree, go out, Gizmatic conceives a massive passion for his foe's girlfriend, 8-10 years later after a kidnapping attempt she swears out a complaint against him and says she has come to love Joe Wilkins. So of course everything thinks she was brainwashed.
No trace of brainwashing, but Jadis saw her before she and Mal manifested while on a playdate with Jobe, when she came back to how she once was, brains and all, and ticked off about it so she stormed off. Only to be happy and perky once again, how could he do this without any trace of brainwashing or mind control. And Jobe seems to know what is happening to her, as he as a famous regard for people's Free Will.
Oh boy, put through all that no one would remain sane, rational maybe, but sane, you would have to have a will like Batman to even have a chance of coming out of that sane when the brainwashing finally ends, if it ever does. And Lorna has unknown goals, that is scary to even think about. Mrs. Griffin clashing with Lorna Wilkins, this is going to be epic.
Two cats suddenly put together, apart description, this is an epic cat fight minus the claws. Nice maneuver, Jadis, more evidence of why she goes into law in the future. Vamp, you underestimate Jadis a great deal, she has experience from years of dealing with her dad and his supervillain friends on how to play and lecture adults without them even realizing it. Press forcing their way into someone's home, they are looking at a lawsuit and criminal charges, acting like the paparazzi when they are supposed to be better than that, good grief.
Oh boy, Kent Brockman [nice Simpsons reference] calling the Drow robotic seduction drones, they better hold Jobe back of this guy is going to end up in the hospital. Jadis even calls them out on the reporter's name, 'Kent Brockman' is really Doc Cambion, the Man of Brass. He says they stole the sapphire and he has a document to prove it. While Jadis looks it over and DC smile gets to all the girls including Jobe, talk of signing over the jewel to him and there will be no trouble.
Lorna and Mrs. Griffin are having none of that, asking Jadis what the paper says. Vamp tries to get the paper away from Jadis who isn't responding, DC tries to use a mental whammy on Vamp but fails and gets head-butted for it, escaped from DC and slapped Jadis out of her dazed state. When Jadis tries to leap to attack DC, a second skin of black, purple, and silver energies went around her and threw off her aim. Sonic grenades in the form of ear-piercing, shrill yodeling, that is evil! Sapper absorbs a hit unharmed, Charger charges him, avoiding the palm strike but running into the falling microphone at 60 mph, knocking her for a loop.
Sapper charges the camera-dog only to get tangled up in capture foam, Mal goes to save her but his PFG is turned against him but web of wires thrown at him, this is bad. Different lights for friendlies, guests and hostiles, shutters come down but DC stops the door from being blocked, dang. Intern runs for it out the door while Vamp goes after him, just as the case keeping the shutter from lowering starts to buckle.
DC and her cronies spread out, the Producer even trying to threaten Lorna and Mrs. Griffin but scared of the look Lorna is giving him. Good grief, I don't think even Batman has that many holders for holdouts on him. Jadis takes charge, then ask God how she has offended him to have to relies on Mal's crew. Ouch, Charge and Buzz hit by DC and the camera-dog respectively. Ouch, PK for speed only to get slammed into the floor by DC, not a good morning for Jadis.
Okay, that is scary when Lorna shakes off the brainwashing or mind control even a little. Even scarier when she starts acting, the Producer doesn't have a prayer. Relying on the Beast Skin too much, after this experience I don't think Ms. Grimes will complain about that and her training more. The Empress having Jadis fight him so he has to focus on her completely, she is dangerous when the mind control breaks. That piece of tech in the form of simple jewelry and an eyepiece is impressive. Ouch, Jadis down on the floor because she got distracted trying to watch the minions.
Mal in trouble as Jadis tries to get up, but Lorna holds off DC with her tech and energy beams. He tries to taunt her, but fails as she is cold like this. Taking out his tech and hurting him at the same time, wonder how much longer DC can last. Mal gets another weapon and takes out another shrieker, damaging part of the house with mini-missiles until Jadis orders him to switch to combat maser, taking the Producer out finally. Jadis uses her PK to draw a charging Roadie closer and slams him into the gearbox, then hits him with it. Lorna has DC on the ropes, even his wig had electronics in it over his real hair, but it gets fried like his other tech is.
Mal takes out the last of shriekers, Drow are back up, and DC is out of options. Pinned between Lorna and Freight Train, ouch, DC is in a world of hurt with them setting up for each other. Everyone back up, the minions out and tied up so they won't cause any more trouble, but DC's little minion who ran for it earlier is back and he throws Freight Train, then gives another order.
Two things tossed, one blasted by beam from Lorna but it was a trap for eye-stinging smoke, DC throws Freight Train aka Angie onto Jadis, ouch. DC escaped with the jewel but left his crew behind, while Jadis is upset at her jewel being stolen. Ah, Vamp has the real sapphire and DC took off with a synthetic copy. D'oh, Lorna is back under the effects of Gizmatic's programming, talking about Jobe's father not leaving the good stuff around where just anyone can get at it. Sell the lesser goods while keeping the true high grade inventions for himself and his family, smart.
DC's crew hauled off by the police, idiots think he will break them out of prison, after he ran and left them behind, that's a laugh. Dang, it is even part of his MO to do this to civilians he hires to work with him, even for a villain that is low. Mal and Jobe were fans of DC when they were younger, Jobe says it was only because he liked his approach to the 'so-called' supernatural. Ah, so preternatural means not currently understood, but operating under natural laws and principles we don't understand yet, learned something today.
DC did what Jadis calls 'Scooby Doo on Steroids', investigating the paranormal and other weird phenomena; idiot got felony convictions for misrepresentation and fraud due to the show, getting talented young faces hurt or killed on his stupid show. Ran to save his own skin and left 3 associates to die, caught on film by people not working for him, and this just snowballed into revealing a whole lot of other **** he did over the years in connection to his show. Plus he upset Belphy, falsifying his data. Mal begins to rant about science and how DC just made things up, still heartbroken after all these years and backed up by Jobe and Belphy.
Oh brother, he gets people to work with him by saying he was framed and is trying to prove his innocence, DC is a real piece of work. Still doing the same things but as a criminal now, plus he used a sophisticated magical effect in the form of the spell slip he tricked Jadis into reading so he is a hypocrite. Science Explains Everything, oh brother. Jobe upset at Hernandez and the security system not working like it was supposed to. DC had inside information on the set-up for the manor, it defenses, and the control center as well.
Steff Wilkins was the leak but was under DC's mental influences, the same thing that made Jobe drool at him. Vamp defends her and explains everything that happened, Jadis' demon protecting her from mental influence, but DC caught Steff off guard and used a mental technique on her. Bova didn't notice him use it but Vamp did, weird, something unusual about Vamp's mental powers there or just more focused on sensing such things. Jadis has to explain to Mrs. Griffin about her devil and everything, she wishes to spin it into a story but Jadis warns her against that as even his own kids don't badmouth Dr. Dr. Diabolik.
Dang, security is that trashed at the Diabolik kid's place they have to move the sapphire, Jobe, Belphy, Lorna, and the other Drow to a safe location. Suggestions of a Wilkins place don't go over well, not secure due to how ticked off everyone is at Jobe due to their adventure the last time in New York. Steff tries to defend the Wilkins name only for Jadis to remind her of what she did, ticked off and in no mood for her attitude right now. Lorna talks about using the reputation of the place and people who live there as a defense until the security system is back up, Steff talks about replacing it with one of her own design, showing her arrogance again.
Hernandez rips into Steff, but Jadis mediates and ask how long it will take to get things back up and running again. 3 days due to the idiots who have them under surveillance not knowing the limitations of it. Jadis has Mal get some stop gag measures in place, using the potential threat of a GizSmart AI keeping an eye on them while he wants to spend time with Erzili to make him hustle.
Oh brother, in-fighting in the Wilkins clan due to the crown jewels and can't trust any of the other Wilkins with it. A bank, what bank will hold something for Jobe or his mom even for just a few days?
That right there is scary after what Jadis said they would do. Jadis giving orders to get everything in order, Mal to not be allowed to upgrade his REX units with AI, and them heading out with Lorna and Mrs. Griffin arguing about where to go. Crawford better not let the news of the security system failure to the police or he is toast by legal action."As long as you file an Environmental Impact Report, just have fun!"
The senior client liaison for Tiffany's in New York sweating from dealing with them, yikes. Jadis actually got Lorna and Mrs. Griffin into a discreet meeting room, continues to impress. Jadis bargains to get them to do this over at Faberge for an $80k gift certificate, being told she has a future in customer relations. She pulls the same extortion on the Faberge people to get them moved to another jewelry store. No extortion at Cartier's, while Jadis chews out Mal for giving the REX units AI, and DC is selling information to someone to get a way out of town, uh oh.
Nightlord, dubbing himself the Daredevil of Darkness, watching the Diabolik place, this kid has some screws loose or is obsessed with being like Batman. Aunt Gail let him stay up until 10 PM because it isn't a school night, just how old is this kid? Woman on a broom got into the Diabolik estate and Nightlord slunk in after her, this is going to a comedy. Great, a girl was watching Nightlord and followed him inside now, pure chaos in the making.
Nightlord following the magic-user female in the cloak, obvious with her tools, dust to reveal traps and maneuver around them, Nightlord follows and the other girl after him. Floating down to the second floor, Nightlord on the stairs, other girl copies the cloaked woman. Down to the basement and Nightlord removed a card the woman left on the doorway, wait a minute, the woman in the rear phased through the door down into the basement, armored vault area too well protected as lined with osmium compound and electrified mesh.
The 1st woman and Nightlord don't notice each other or the 2nd woman so far. 1st woman uses magic and what appears to be some tech to crack the vault's combination. Intruder didn't turn on the light or need to, the large purple spinel-cut jewel is inside the vault on a clear Lucite stand, armored drawers line the far wall of the chamber with combination dial, keypad, and keyhole to open each of them. Nightlord trips the alarm and is spotted, trying to trap the 1st woman inside only to be attacked by the 2nd woman. 1st woman sneaks off amid the chaos of the ensuing fight.
2nd woman snatches the jewel from Nightlord's hand and runs for it, stuck by the 1st woman in the narrow stairwell, only to be attacked by small hunched darkling creatures after they exit. 2nd woman screams and thrashes around, knocking around the 1st woman who was trying to get something from her pouch. 2nd woman has the sapphire fly from her hands only for Nightlord to swoop in and catch it. 1st woman aka magical burglar stops her efforts as the shadow-gremlins grow in size, number, intensity, and solidity, not a good day for her. Manages to get away with her life at least.
Nightlord reset all the traps the magical burglar neutralized, trapped in a mass of chains that came from the ceiling, floors, and walls. The Follower comes running out screaming, bringing the shadow-gremlins on her tail and through the chains, only to get all 3 of them tangled up in the mess. Another synthetic copy of the jewel with a magical trap where if you use your powers, you just feed the shadow-gremlins and create more, ingenious. Jadis is impressed the magical burglar figured it out, wishing to know who invaded her home.
She doesn't know the magical burglar, knows Nightlord, and the Follower is Nightfox, a student from Whateley from how Jadis reacts. Bova warns about Nightfox plan to escape and Freight Train knocks her out, nice teamwork. Bova warning about the burglar plans, Belphy trains a weapon on her, another warning about Nightfox is can go heavy or light and Jobe KO's her with a simple paralytic.
Bova is horrified that Nightlord even thinks in comic book clichés. And Nightfox is reacting badly, Bova and sense something is wrong, and Belphy has been messing with Jobe's venoms again and it wasn't the paralytic. Nightfox thrashing around throws Jobe into Freight Train, distracting Belphy enough for the magical burglar to make her dizzy with a spell and unleash the aerosol canister. When the gas clears, all 3 intruders are gone and Jadis exclaims "Aaahhh...NERTZ."
Jadis tells the NYPD what happened, Jadis knows Nightfox as an escaped convict from the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, they used to go to school together. Nightfox was kicked out of Whateley, a Bad Seed 2 years ahead of Jadis, the sort of Bad Seed the Spy Kidz think they all are, oh boy. Father is Nightwolf, list of crimes, Gina planned to follow in her father's footsteps. In the Masterminds before they became a joke, double yikes.
Manipulated by DuPraeve into committing a crime with her buddy Latchkey and left twisting in the wind. Kicked out Whateley and handed over to the authorities, broke out in 3 months, Latchkey in even less time. And Jadis calls up Derek aka Nightlord at his school and yells at him for breaking into her home in the middle of the night. Can't wait for the next part to see what happens.

Maurice Leblanc's 'Gentleman Thief' who is part crime-solving (and crime-committing) mastermind, part prince of romance, first appearing in novels and short stories, starting in 1905.
That's the reference, and it might also be a medical condition, like Quinzel-Osborn? I find the latter unlikely though, as there doesn't seem to be any part that could be said to be like a medical condition? Or something named like Stockholm Syndrome? But, I'm not thinking either is likely.

I'd hoped that the description of how her force field worked would have suggested that. Ah well... Doc Cambion's spell basically cut Jadis off from the 'beast'. So, now her power is like it was after Seraphim angel-blasted her at the end of 'There's an Angel in Dickinson Cottage'. The problem is that Jadis doesn't have a lot of experience with her PK in that form. And while she doesn't like her devil- like at ALL- she has years of experience in fighting in the 'Beast Skin'. How long will this last? Who knows?

I'd hoped that the description of how her force field worked would have suggested that. Ah well... Doc Cambion's spell basically cut Jadis off from the 'beast'.
You mean the spell in the paper?
Cambion reached into his blazer and pulled out a very official looking piece of folded paper. He handed it to Jadis, who unfolded it and started reading it.
I thought it was just a high-level hypnotic spell, not a dual-use hypnotic + "cut off the beast" spell. The lack of devil making the PK Field different was obvious, to me, anyway? ... Oh...
He knew that the Beast had that demon thing protecting her from mental influence, so he used that spell on her.
... I interpreted that as Cambion just using a different type of mental spell to get the same distraction effect [edit: or that a spell is different from other kinds of mental influence (a.k.a PSI)?], but it makes more sense, and isn't contradictory, when I have the spell be separating Jadis from the devil. ... Which, I thought, for some reason, would be a difficult thing... Oh it is difficult:
Jadis paused and showed the spell slip that Cambion had slipped her. “This is a remarkably sophisticated magical effect, which adds another level of hypocrisy to Cambion’s crimes.”
... It's just never explicitly, or is that plainly?, stated that the spell slip separated Jadis from her devil? Unless it is, somewhere?

Well, even if she did like the devil, she's gotta block it so she can train to be better prepared when people figure out how to split the devil from her.:
<memo to self: no matter what Grimes says, I’ve got to get in more practice with my devil-implant out of the equation. Ito’s right: I rely on the beast-skin far too much>
Possibly another object from The Three Maidens, 'cause Seraphim's power is an easily way to block it, and the Maidens have Seraphim as one of the three?

Depends.
While it can be blocked, she was told by Dr. Dad that removing it would be "disasterous".
She still hasn't been told WHY Dr. Dad installed it, so she would probably do more research first, as he's still unwilling to talk about it.
Yes, i've got ideas and speculations, but i'll wait for the big reveal.
Nice episode. Patiently waiting for the rest.
I also loved the way that they had to perform a quick magical upgrade on the security system. Jadis's paranoia is paying off...

Actually, that was in regards to the corymbic implant , not the devil:Mister D wrote: While it can be blocked, she was told by Dr. Dad that removing it would be "disastrous".
in 'No Beast So Fierce', Bek D. Corbin wrote: “Your father put some sort of neural implant in you? Why?”
“Dunno. He won’t say.”
“Well, when did he implant it?”
“Dunno. I only found out about it when I came to Whateley. They found it during my initial physical, and when they scanned my head, they found all these nano-filaments going through by brain. The plug itself is lined with an osmium compound, and they can’t penetrate the lining. When they asked Dr. Dad about it, he just said that removing it would be- and I quote- ‘disastrous’- unquote.”
Whether the two are related in any way remains to be seen, though I gather that Jadis suspects they may be.

Where did that Astrodragon quote come from? 'Cause I can't find the original post... And that post of Astrodragon's doesn't even say that... And the post numbers are confusing... Astrodragon replied to me before I said something?
Oh. No... Presumably, what was attributed to Astrodragon was your response, and you previously quoted Astrodragon but backed out, leading to the quoting strangeness?

Well, doing a general Google search in the stories for stories that contain "Angel" and "Kerry OR Seraphim", I've got nothing to support the idea that Grimes said anything... But I should search for Jadis AND Grimes [And angel]... ... And nothing...

But what I've loved about DAAVBF, is the compare and contrast between Jadis and Vamp's approaches to being fixers. Jadis being...well, Jadis, but Vamp being more brash, rougher about it all. The magical contract and overall enthralling/glamour(?) scene that Cambion used being a good example.

Perhaps it's a compulsion that if you CAN sneak in somewhere then, given the option, you will... And if you have powers that make it easier it can become much more likely and/or irresistible to do so.
Tie that together with a need to prove that you did so and/or a bit of kelptomania and all of a sudden you're sneaking in any-and every- where and taking things left and right.
Of course some may just do it for the thrill...

tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Literature/ArseneLupin
Maurice Leblanc's 'Gentleman Thief' who is part crime-solving (and crime-committing) mastermind, part prince of romance, first appearing in novels and short stories, starting in 1905.
That's the reference, and it might also be a medical condition, like Quinzel-Osborn? I find the latter unlikely though, as there doesn't seem to be any part that could be said to be like a medical condition? Or something named like Stockholm Syndrome? But, I'm not thinking either is likely.
Don't forget one of Japan's most iconic characters, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupin_the_Third
The grandson of the original. He's almost their version of James Bond, except of course for being a crook. For years he had an annual movie in which he would take down a Bond type villain. And there has been many, many, Anime shows for him.

Anyway, I was wondering if Cambion's stunt is enough to trigger Dr Dad's wrath, he has brust into his kids' house, wrecked the security system, assaulted the kids and their guests, and then he has gone spreading around the news about the sudden weakness of the house's security system for every creep out there to target it. I mean, I don't know think he should go after everyone who tries to break in but I think that he should make exemple of Cambion, it's important that everyone understands that You Never, EVER Mess with Dr Diabolik's Kids (after that a phonecall to those that tried to break in, informing them of his displeasure and pointing out that if they tried again he would be forced to take action, should be enough).
The exception being Nightdork, he's both a Whateley student and a such minor nuisance that is barely worth Jadis's time, let alone Dr Dad's (naturally Jadis will screw with him a bit, but that's just fair, he is the one screwing with her first, he has to learn some manners). It is also worth considering that Nightdork has proven to be more an asset than an enemy to Jadis so far.

Just in that specific situation.
Dr. Diabolik: "What are your intentions toward my daughter?"
Nightlord: (whimpers and wets himself...)
For a description of how Dr. Diabolik presents himself when he's is working, have a look at the Silver Ghost stories.
He seems to place a lot of emphasis on presentation-for-maximising-effect, so my guess is, he'd play up to it.

Below is a stream of conscious commentary I type up as I read the story. There will details from the story included in it. If you have not read the story yet and don't wish to have details of it spoiled, read no further.
Diamonds Are a Vamp's Best Friends Part 4 comments
Bwahahahahaha, Jadis just letting them in, they try to introduce themselves but she Mal and friends who they really are, priceless. Strongarm literally has a cybernetic right arm, *groan* Nice, traps controlled by a remote signal through a cell phone. Gah! My mind's eye, that description of Doctor Insidious' costume, I could see it clearly. Nice snarking by Jobe, she could teach classes or at least be TA for one.
Amateur hour with these guys, free their goons and take a hostage, the leader can't even keep from blurting out the plan in front of them. Taking Erzili aka Sapper hostage, biggest mistake, know your enemies or it will cost you. Grabbing Sapper by the neck, Strongarm is as idiotic as his boss. Buzz doing that to his cybernetic arm, ouch. Jack B Quick on the run from Charger, Freight Train taking that gadget or devise right off Dr. I's arm, Belphy blasting Jack and the goons with him with a whirlwind from it, not a good day for these guys.
Paid, Dr. I paid for that piece of junk, he just got dropped to fourth-tier supervillain IMO. Another device is taken from D. I by Jadis this time and tossed to Belphy. Where does he get these crappy toys? And a crappy Sonic weapon attempt at that. And long grappler from Belphy takes his 'ultimate weapon' and it is a piece of crap as well. Escaping on a Sky Chariot out the window, how cliche. And Strongarm doesn't even care since they got paid up front, Dr. I is worse than an amateur.
Sole female 'goon' going after the vault, Jadis taunting her but this goon knows the truth that she is fully awake and alert, boy would I love that implant. Ah, the same woman who broke in last night with the Nightdork twins, sneaking into this crew to finish the job. Dang, this woman is good to give Jadis such trouble, spell slips and smoke bombs.
Vamp grumpy when woken early when she wishes to sleep in. Nice to see a different perspective of that fight, can't coordinate seems kind for this group. *facepalms* Vamp, you just have to be a perv no matter what. Goes to get coffee and told what is going on by Bova, Jack B Quick making Vamp spill her coffee on her silk robe, I wouldn't want to be him right now. About to teach him a lesson when the woman from the basement ruins it, handy little pellets for tripping people up though.
Darn, Jadis slowed by Vamp's darkness and the woman makes it to the nearby door, tripping each other up now. Ouch, tries to go after the woman and blinded by the morning sunlight, poor Vamp. Wonder who the guy in the white cermet power armor is. Gah! Two more guys, one with a beam of light, another with a bullhorn and intense yodel that rattles her, were these guys lying in wait for Jadis?
And another one with a big bat, crap, KoP targeting Jadis! Gah! All that to capture Jadis, these psychos seem to think they are the law. Any interference met with Lethal Force, KoP needs to be shut down already. Vamp lawyering them and they aren't listening, saying Jadis is a known supervillain, ugh, didn't think I could hate this group more. Bova has Mr. Dunmore on the phone, goodie, nice lawsuit for the KoP to deal with.
Lorna Wilkins showing in a flying limo, these KoP guys are going to be racked over the coals. Jobe's reply to her mom about why she on the street in her nighty, too perfect. No provision to ensure her breathing, even the police have to ensure that! Mrs. Griffin, okay, right now I pity these KoP idiots for the amount of trouble they are in, but just a little. Yay, nice move Bova, and I love Jadis' first response to these jackbooted thugs.
The KoP can come in just from a call from an irate neighbor, that is so stupid, would think it would require at least government officials to authorize them coming into residential areas in those power armors of theirs. Jack B Quick having to come back for his super sneakers and the KoP capture him, ugh. The Empress and the Griffin sounds like a superhero duo to me for some reason.
Vamp being more careful, yet door gets kicked in and another raid on the place, good grief. Ultramax, Tower, Powerjack, Splendor, Aurora, Nightchylde, and Rubberboy, just who is this group? Plus why do they think Vamp is a real vampire, at least the way this woman is talking. Crud, don't tell me this woman can see in Vamp's darkness field. Nice way to deliver orders which the other side won't understand, any real group knows to use a code, suggest that this group attacking them are amateurs thinking they are big league.
Belphy taking out the flying chick with a BFG, nice to see Jobe confused at all this, maybe see the benefits of team tactics and training in the future. Oooo, chokeholds including a band that wraps around the target's neck, a good way to finish a fight fast. And the leader attacks Jadis, seeming to have some sort of grudge against her. Female voice at the door telling Bronze and the rest of them to stand down, bet they came to talk and these yahoos decided to attack instead due to bruised egos from a past event.
And Bronze is a fight-happy b, sucker-punching Jadis like that. They were just supposed to come here and explain the situation, Bronze thought because it is the Diabolik house they wouldn't listen, ugh. And Bronze isn't the leader but seems to think she is, great, these kinds will cause trouble until kicked off the team or smacked down hard to learn a lesson.
Tiger Girl the new leader of the Cadet Crusaders, and Bronze is an idiot, thinking Jadis abducted Jobe and stole the crown jewels of Karedonia. Melody Havoc is Bronze, great, from the way Jadis reacts she is someone with a grudge against her. Ah, rivalry to be the best, Mel getting superpowers just because Jadis did, that is a ridiculous level fo rivalry. And tried to get Jadis arrested on general principles just for being the daughter of Dr. Diabolik, Mel has issues.
Mrs. Griffin behind the CC being brought in, *sigh* At least Mr. Hernandez is keeping a clear head. I love how he verbally smacks down Bronze thinking she is the one in charge. Talking to Jadis and asking why her mind isn't evil, curious. *facepalms* What kind of idiots think 'Designer Heroes' is a good idea? Bova explaining the situation with Jadis' devil, too bad it is only out for a few days. Plus why telepaths detect Jadis as evil, poor girl.
Professor Puzzle left a clue, and dang, Jadis figuring it out that quickly. Cellini's Planetarium, Cellini making that turtle, interesting. And it is at the Walker Museum, at least now Bronze doesn't have to stick around. Mrs. Griffin knows how to manipulate things to their advantage.
Jadis annoyed and wondering how something supports the victims of supervillain violence, plus why they are shooting there, with the Drow, and why the sapphire is needed. Ad for American Heritage Society, Jadis mental defenses slipped past by Bova who snerks at her thought. Jadis knows a lot about Professor Puzzle, sounds like a Batman villain. Mel, throwing the actions of Jadis' father in her face like that, this girl has no class. That story to excuse taking a priceless unique antiquity out of the country, it is a wonder they didn't cause an international incident.
Saying she isn't a mutant like mutant is an insult, really don't like Mel. 'Batson Factor' or 'Origin', plus I have to agree with Jadis, dragging their kids on adventures and putting them in danger, child services should have them wrapped up in court for years now. And the contest of who is better continues, this time with whose powers are better.
Alumni Witchfire92 wishing to meet Jadis in the Walker cafeteria, class of 1992. The gem finessed to this location with malice aforethought, nice snarking by Jadis, Witch Queen, how many have claimed that title. Witchfire stealing objects that may or may not be magical in nature, Insurance Fraud, Stock Manipulation, and even a scam like that, that would earn her a lot of enemies. Saying the gem belongs to her and she wants it back, oh brother, without proof all you come across as is a blustering villain.
Stone is trouble, don't tell me it is a literal trouble magnet and the cause of all the incidents lately. Ashtaroth, a criminal mystic who is also after the gem, great. And that kind of criminal, you would think some of the more honorable criminals would have smacked him down by now. And Jobe under this creep's influence, all to get the gem, things just got a lot more complicated. And we can only hope that Jadis' plan for how things go down happens that way.
Great, trying to get Witchfire to seek aid when the alarms go off. Going back to check it out, of course Bronze pins Jadis to the wall in an overreaction. Plus acting like she knew PP would go after the Planetarium on her own and trying to boss around the rest of the CC, this girl is going to get bounced from the group at this rate. Tiger Girl sending them all off for safety, Jadis, her friend and Bronze staying with the sapphire, Sending the rest off to check every possible direction PP could escape by and warning them not to break anything, while Bronze still tries to act like her plan is best, that girl needs her ego deflated.
I like Tiger Girl in charge of the CC, nice to see them with a leader with their head together. An interesting exhibit, Vamp creeped out by the Shakers dying out due to celibacy, hehe. *sighs* Bronze is an idiot, thinking she is the law and ordering them around like that. Fig Newtons, bwahahaha. And Bronze using priceless artifacts as improvised weapons after being told no damage, if this doesn't get her drummed out of the CC she is going to wish it had.
Vamp not wishing to get in on the action, because of all the collateral damage being done, she does use her common sense sometimes.

PI showing up on his own to steal the gem, only for Jadis to effortlessly disable his rig, talk about pathetic. Okay, now who is this guy and his henchmen that just fell into the scene. Great, Devil Mask guy has the Planetarium and does something to it, as if things can't get more complicated. Could this creep be Ashtaroth and his minions or someone else?
Spell slips, just how many villains and their henchmen use those! Vamp trying to keep the not-ninjas off Jadis but too many of them, this guy must have gone to the discount minions warehouse. *eyes bug out* How do you lop off a hand like Jadis just did and no blood, circuits, or what-not, golems perhaps or magical constructs.
Crap! Using the Planetarium to pull the Beast out of Jadis, hooked, wired and trying to figure out how to make it his bitch, this is very bad. Something off about these guys, no blood, have to be some form of magical constructs. A bubble around the Planetarium, Jadis gathering the Beast and throwing it at Mr. Red, torn apart and nothing but rags left, very weird, was he a construct as well? All of the not-ninjas are just hollow outfits, even weirder than expected. PP making off with the Planetarium while Mal is chasing after PI, this almost felt like a wacky cartoon with how the fight went.
Jadis having to tell what happened and Bronze being an ass about it, Ashtaroth developed a magical version of telepresence, at least from the sounds of it, just the worst thing for a supervillain to have, let alone one like him. Magically enchanted outfits which they atune to, at least they have to plan ahead and can't do it spur of the moment. Bronze demanding why they didn't stop PP when it was her job, love Tiger Girl calling her out on that one.
Jadis not trusting bureaucrats to fill out documents right so spends 3 hours making sure the red tape was properly tied, talk about dedicated. A redheaded Dennis the Menace bolting out the front door of Diabolik Manor, followed by who looks like Gina Larrimore demanding he gives her something, weird. Nightfox and the kid zipping out of sight and Jadis wanting to find out what that was all about. And now we have to wait and learn alongside her in the next part, *muffles scream of frustration at cliffhanger*
Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked.

GizMom was never actually "Lorna Langtree"; that's a false identity she created so that she could have access to Steve Briggs, whom she had known in her real identity - when they were at Whateley together.
She was one of the founding members of the Masterminds, a PDP - or perhaps I should say, 'MUP'? - who, after being repeatedly humiliated by a certain Benny Roberts, decided to turn her focus from the PK Superwoman thing to more... subtle uses.
Yep. It's Mimeo's old sparring partner Gina, AKA Star Power.
When she heard that Stephen Briggs - who was in the year ahead of her and Mimeo - was to be the next Champion, she formulated a Cunning Plan. She originally meant to use C3 as a catspaw against Mimeo, whose own cleverness she had underestimated. She knew that Benny had trounced Blue Blaze over and over again, just as he had with her, figuring that him being the new Champ would prick at Benny's ego - Exemplar telepath or not, she was still an inexperienced teen, and didn't realize that he wasn't the type to let that sort of thing get under his skin.
In their Junior year, she realized that this wormy freshman Devisor guy named Joe had the hots for her sweet Exemplar ass, and while she blew him off, she noted that he had potential, so she made a point of watching his tussle with Briggs from afar.
She saw that she could use the Giz to tweak her handling of BB, so she hooked up with Briggs in a way that she knew would cheese Joe Wilkins off but good, while subtly encouraging Steve to keep bullying the younger kid. This original plan fell apart when Gizmatic stood up for Marty Ashur and get creamed for it - by the time he was back in classes and in condition to do much, Briggs had graduated. Still, figuring to use what she had out of the deal, she started telepathically stoking Giz's hatred of Briggs, while at the same time making both of them conveniently forget all about her - she didn't erase the memories from their minds, just blurred things so that she was just a fond but indistinct memory of another Exemplar hottie out of a double dozen at WA in those years, while changing how they recalled her just enough that they wouldn't recognize her later.
When she graduated herself the next year, she had established the Langtree identity - due to a problem with an early version of H1, she couldn't stick around where she was from anyway, so she would have need to do that no matter what. She took law classes at U of Illinois, figuring to keep tabs on C3 and see what she could do with that. She arranged for him to 'rescue' her from some minor criminals around the time she graduated from Law School in 1976 (not long after manipulating things such that the person she was most worried about, Sunburst, would leave for LA), and slowly arranged for him to have to protect her from more and more threats as she began to climb the ladders at the DA's office.
By this time, of course, Gizmatic was in full-blown Obvious Supervillain mode, so she decided that she could use him to drive Briggs' star higher while putting her into the more rarified political circles. She slowly wormed her way into the heart of Chicago politics, while building a rep as a tough young ADA.
Then it all threatened to fall apart again when another classmate figured out what was going on. She had to scramble to get this person out of the way, and in desperation created the whole 'brainwashed by the Sinister Supervillain' ruse.
Despondent, she played along with that for a time, and even managed to convince Joe that it was the truth. Still, she was ambitious, so when she saw a low-hanging fruit in the form of a small Caribbean island ripe for exploitation, she began to turn his mind towards what would become the conquest of Karedonia.
And so she rules in secret, hiding behind the mask of silly, ditzy trophy wife so thoroughly mind-fucked that she can barely tell the time.

Before that, she was docked in San Diego. According to ABBY, at the same time, the Intrepid, the mission ship for Dr. Miles Havoc-”
“THE EYE OF LEMURIA!” Luke snapped to, a revelation clear on his face (or at least mask). “Nine months ago, Dr. Havoc’s wife, Gloria Garland, the big noise at International Disaster Intervention, went up against this complete nutcase, I forget what he called himself, but he was psychic, and he thought that he was some sort of ‘Mind Priest of Lost Lemuria’ or something, and he was trying either to raise a sunken island that he thought was Lemuria or open some sort of dimensional gate- I’m not really sure what they were trying to do, reports are all over the place on that one. But the point is that this whack-job was using this large transparent crystal with a blue dot in the center as some sort of psychic focus, and he had hijacked all the communications bands in Djakarta to draw the attention of hundreds of thousands of Indonesians to the ‘Eye’ as to focus their psychic energies to raise the island or open the gate or knock on heaven’s door or whatever… Anyway, it was a huge mess… superheroes, magical girls, rival supervillains, criminal scientists, magicians, snakemen, demons… it seems like everyone in Southeast Asia was trying to get in on that action. After it settled out, the Havocs were smelling like roses, and the Indonesian government wanted that Eye as far away from them, and as far out of local affairs as they could, so they gave it to Dr. Havoc to examine. My guess is that ‘Miles of Documentation’ finally gave up trying to figure out that thing, and handed it over to Dr. Smart.”
“Or maybe he got tired of the Intrepid being the target of Fourth Reich hijacking attempts,” Mara said. “I happen to know that an alleged ‘Mind Priest’ of Lemuria happens to have ‘acknowledged’ Madam Cailleach, a, ah… colleague… of mine as the ‘Reincarnated Queen of Lemuria’, and has attached himself and his followers to her entourage. I also happen to know that dear Kayley recently remarried, and is now Baroness Blitzen.” Mara paused and said, “If the Athena was moored in Montclair when Akelarre cast her opening spell in her Great Quest, then the Eye would have drawn the shard to it like a magnet drawing an iron filing. The magic could have caused Dr. Smart to relocate closer to the center of the working, or the Athena could simply have been in Clinton when the scattering was cast.”
And this being Bek and all, anyone want to guess who both the Havocs and the Smarts are agents of? (Answer: the White Monks, of course, the same ones behind the Wildes.)
Of course, that part is just speculation, even if it isn't as deliberately ludicrous as my last post.

The way she has been bickering with the Griffin seems to support this. Lorna may be playing bubbly, but she is shrewd and calculating, and very used to the types of big city social interplay she would be used to as an ADA or whatever she had been.
Jobe doesn't dare disagree with her either. She seems quite happy (and not in a ditzy way) that Jobe turned herself into a daughter for her, and also brought along a twin who is nowhere near as rude and so much less of a Wilkins in personality.

Anyone who accuses the MCO of sanity doesn't really get what many of them are: Namely rabidly fanatical about the elimination of Mutants. Some are so rabidly fanatical they would make certain fanatic sects that we experience today seem to be both calm and peaceful. Luckily this sort usually runs up against something that eats them for lunch!Astrodragon wrote: Given Dr D's reputation - and what he COULD do if really riled - you have to wonder at the sanity of the MCO in attacking Jadis.

The Knights of Purity are not part of the MCO, they are a private company owned by Herbert Goodkind.

In the end reality is only consensual! It means that Al Gore is causing "Global Warming" by his rhetoric alone! Fortunately, there are enough Global Warming "Deniers" still about to keep him from boiling the planet.

Because the KOP and the MCO often share the same goals, and are often seen to work together, it is very easy to conflate the KOP with the MCO, this is further 'encouraged' by both agencies, which try to feed off from the press that either generates when it is good...Dpragan wrote:

In this story, they aren't acting as government contractors, however; they are operating as security contractors to some disgruntled neighbor -- therefore, with no more police power than your average security outfit. IANAL, but generally speaking, their police power should be very limited outside their principal's private property. But, similar to the MCO, they are used to bluffing like they have more power than that.

The biggest funder of the MCO is the Goodkind family. (According to Ayla

I suspect that the Goodkind families have a great deal of influence over both groups, hence the appearance of working together.

the worst monsters in creationlawyers on them?
It's mentioned in whateleyacademy.net/index.php/2nd-gen-ca...n-t-call-me-a-pretty
They had also been the corporation that had destroyed the Knights of Purity after the Mercs went on their property and wrecked one of their buildings when trying to apprehend a “Dangerous Mutant,” a Whateley Grad who had been illegally marked with a DFA and had literally jaywalked in front of them.

Are we waiting on another story to be told, did the next installment get lost in the shuffle, bad case of writers block?

Ironically, I've recently got a lot of traction on a story involving Jadis, that takes place after she gets back from Spring Break

Considering some of the DFA victims we know of from gen 1, I am inclined to think that if the KoP team survived their attempt at all that must have required divine intervention.
Toni, who should have still been sitting quietly in a wheelchair, and Chou, the baseline with a magical sword, wrecked a team without much danger to themselves.
That KoP team that ended their organisation may have tried to disappear Ayla, or Nicki, or Tenyo ...

Now I was getting the impression Nom's was incharge of Sidewinder, naming it for Diamondback to whom something tragic happened to. Only thing I can think of off the top of my head to support this is Adem talking about how Sandra used to have a great singing voice.

Yes, Noms would do it too.
But did she have a DFA on her MID?
I thought that Eric Mahren interfered before she manifested?

Eldritch. Caitlin Bardue had no criminal record nor MCO-related incident whatsoever when she was DFA'd. I'm not sure if Oscar Bardue's status entitled her to a MMID, but the information used by the MCO to justify the DFA didn't stop being classified by ending up in a NGO's hot little hands.
Anomaly was detained by police before her MID was issued, according to her story.
